4 arrested in Egypt after shoe thrown at Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad

Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad meets people as he visits the Al-Hussein mosque, named after Prophet Mohammed's grandson Hussein ibn Ali, in old Cairo on Feb. 5, 2013. Ahmadinejad was both kissed and scolded on Tuesday when he began the first visit to Egypt by an Iranian president since Tehran's 1979 Islamic revolution.

CAIRO -- Egypt's security arrested four men who were protesting outside a Cairo mosque, where the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was praying.

The men, including a Syrian, belong to the ultra-conservative Sunni Salafist movement.

One man threw a shoe at Ahmadinejad, a Shiite, who was never in any danger.

The Al-Hussein Mosque is revered by Shiite Muslims, who are widely disliked by conservative Sunni Muslims, including members of the Muslim Brotherhood. Egypt's President Mohammed Morsi was previously a member of the Brotherhood.

Many Sunni Muslim groups have denounced the Iranian president’s visit to Cairo and have called on Egypt’s government to prevent Ahmadinejad from visiting any religious sites that are significant to Shiite Muslims.

Ahmadinejad met with Sunni Islam's most senior scholar at Al Azhar shortly before he went to pray at the Al-Hussein Mosque.

Doe any one miss the ole Iran Contra scandal when Reagan supported by the Iranians and the Iraqis so Shia could kill Sunni and Sunni kill Shia? Now they just bomb each others mosques on a weekly basis and threaten to eradicate the pigs and apes when they ain't too busy killin each other.

Don't miss the contra scandal, but I'd buy the popcorn for a rerun of the Iran-Iraq war.

Nothing better than muslim-on-muslim violence to make an infidel like me happy.

It's an intense insult. Shoes are considered to be filthy, and if you get one thrown at you, the message is that you are too.

go ahead and laugh dumbasses, at the rate YOUR potus is going the only thing you will have to throw will be a rock or a stick because you will not have a gun and can't afford a shoe.

I'd say throwing a rock or stick would be more effective than throwing a gun or a shoe.

Drill our own oil and let these apes starve. I well remember when they first f**ked us with the embargo in '74 and I'm sick of all of them, especially the mooslem in the White House.

Apes ? Is that the best you can do ? Calling an entire population apes ?

You're a disgrace to this country and what it stands for. Go back to your militia, dig yourself a bunker and stay in it for the rest of your miserable life.

Perhaps Ahmadinejad and W. could share their shoe-ducking stories? They have lots in common besides the tendency to attract shoe throwers.

Ahmadinejad is as popular as Bush. I wonder if the Iranian president is going to have the shoe bronzed like Bushy did.

In my opinion all Muslims are insane. In fact all religious people are insane, but their insanity is a rational response to an existence that goads us toward wisdom only to kill us first. If one does not believe, one almost has to laugh.

But the Shiites are far more insane that the Sunnis. Why? Because in Shia Allah has tied his fortunes to the fortune of a single human blood line. How frickin' god-like is that? Only a small and petty god would care about or depend upon one particular human family tree over others. And said god would be taking a real risk-what if that family produces apostates, or dies off? Beware of gods cast in the image of men! They will show the same lack of common sense!
