Police patrol on the beach near a home in Acapulco, Mexico, where masked and armed men broke in and raped six tourists.
A gang of masked men entered a vacation home near the resort city of Acapulco and raped six Spanish tourists, Mexican authorities said Tuesday.
The assailants, brandishing guns, first tied up the men with phone cords and the straps of bathing suits and then raped the women, The Associated Press reported.
A police report, obtained by Prensa Latina, a Cuba-based Latin American news service, said that 15 subjects with ski masks sexually abused the Spanish women, and also stole the belongings of a Mexican national and six Spanish men.
The assault took place Monday in the town of San Andres, Barra Vieja, in the Diamante area of Acapulco.
Acapulco Mayor Luis Walton and the state prosecutor for Guerroro said Mexican federal police were involved in the hunt for those responsible, CNN reported.
"It's a very delicate situation," Walton said at a news conference on Tuesday in which he condemned the attacks. "We are going to have the full weight of the law against those responsible."
Walton admitted the attacks would likely tarnish Acapulco’s image. The Pacific Coast resort city and its beaches are a popular destination for tourists, including American college students on spring break.
Though the number of rapes in the area is unclear, in one weekend in March 2010, at least 13 people were killed in and around Acapulco in apparent drug-gang violence, including four victims found beheaded. And, according to Reuters, some 70,000 people nationwide have been killed in drug-related violence since 2006.
Though millions of people travel to Mexico each year without incident, the U.S. State Department has issued a warning to travelers visiting the country. It says travelers to Mexico should be aware that “crime and violence are serious problems throughout the country and occur anywhere." Travelers to the Acapulco area are urged to exercise caution and stay within tourist areas.

If you go to Mexico, be sure to have your updated will on file.
Especially if you are female. But then, it might be best just not to go to Mexico.
The Central American countries of Costa Rica and Panama are much safer alternative vacation destinations. Or perhaps travelers can try South America. Venezuela, Chile and Ecuador are beautiful this time of year. My suggestion is to avoid Mexico until we end this ridiculous "war on drugs."
Time for the State Department to issue a "No Visit" order.
Wait a minute....Spring Break is just around the corner and a lot of politican's children have reservations already (with Secret Service security guards).
The Mexican gov't won't do anything serious about the gang violence when it is their own citizens. They won't do anything about it when the violence trickles over the border either. Because of the lack of action these maniacs now act like tourists are fair game.
It is time to put the hurt on the tourist industry down there. Money talks. Then the gov't will be faced with 2 choices: Fall in line and do something or align with the cartels out in the open.
Either way there will be no more ambiguity as far as where their loyalties lie and the US can finally have the ballz to say we have just cause to keep illegals out. If they are attacking tourists then it will only be a matter of time before inner cities in the southwest US start getting attacked.
You know, making drugs illegal was suppose to save lives, so 70,000 mexicans have died and how many gang killings in the US? Thousands. Why not let people kill themselves rather than give them a reason to kill others?
I would be less than surprised to find that the police were involved in the rapes.
Thank you for mentioning the failure that is the War on Drugs. Enough is enough. Legalize it and regulate it, or watch a formerly beautiful country descend into a gruesome civil war, which will then cross our borders, too.
These victims were in a tourist area! And yes, I have no confidence in the Mexican police. They are corrupt.
no kiddin! couldn't pay me enough to go there!
I'm Going To Disney World !
I'm betting hundreds of thousands of other vacationers are making similar type choices !
Suicide by Mexico. Don't worry soon they'll all be living here enjoying Obamacare.
Soooo...can we expect Acapulco to now be the vacation spot of choice for naive liberals everywhere who are supremely confident that the whole world loves them and only them?
Their pet unicorn told them so.
Why has this become a liberal problem? If one is killed by Mexican bandits/rapists/drug cartel do they ask the political preference?
You couldn't pay me any amount of money to vacation anywhere in Mexico.
It's beginning to sound like Chicago,LA or Alabama down there !!
we vacationed in Mexico for years...but NOT NOW....
Alabama?
ITA. Adios. Better luck on the other side. This is one instance where I am not interested in being my brother's keeper. Just do general sweeps for kids unfortunate enough to be born to drug whores. Let them all die happy with a needle in their arm.
So what are you carrying concealed your brain?
It's not a liberal problem, RVGrandpa, I'm merely pointing out that it's more often than not liberals who like to travel to these dangerous places. Why? I have no idea, but my guess is that they honestly believe that everyone loves them simply because they're too stupid and naive to acknowledge the harsh realities of the world.
So now that we know it's not safe in Acapulco, I'm guessing they'll be strapping on the Birkenstocks and booking their tickets for good ol' Meh-hee-co.
Mexico was a good place to visit 20 years ago, you could go and stay on a fraction of what it cost here in the US. Many expat lived there because of the cost of living, and it was reasonably safe. Now, it's a whole different story. I wouldn't go there on a bad bet.
Carry, your posts show say a lot about you. Your assumptions are ignorant and your generalizations silly. How about discussing the topic instead of making up things to further your agenda? How about it is unfortunate this happened and wishing the victims well instead of talking politics? Nah. Not going to happen, I guess.
Only an idiot would travel to Mexico these days. Mexico relies upon the U.S. to absord millions of its ILLEGAL FOREIGN NATIONALS, and utilizes its substantial resources to maintain its corrupt kleptocracy!
But it's so safe there, the general public is unarmed.
Just changed my travel plans. Hmm. Whistler?
I feel a hot wind on my shoulder
And the touch of a world that is older
I turn the switch and check the number
I leave it on when in bed I slumber
I hear the rhythms of the music
I buy the product and never use it
I hear the talking of the DJ
Can't understand just what does he say?
I'm on a mexican radio. I'm on a Mexican - whoah - radio
I dial it in and tune the station
They talk about the U.S. inflation
I understand just a little
No comprende, it's a riddle
I'm on a mexican radio. I'm on a Mexican, whoa-Oh, radio
I'm on a mexican radio. I'm on a Mexican, whoa-Oh, radio
I wish I was in Tijuana
Eating barbequed iguana
I'd take requests on the telephone
I'm on a wavelength far from home
I feel a hot wind on my shoulder
I dial it in from south of the border
I hear the talking of the DJ
Can't understand just what does he say?
I'm on a mexican radio. I'm on a Mexican, whoa-Oh, radio
I'm on a mexican radio. I'm on a Mexican, whoa-Oh, radio
Radio radio... Radio radio... Radio radio...
I'm on a mexican radio. I'm on a Mexican, whoa-Oh, radio
I'm on a mexican radio. I'm on a Mexican, whoa-Oh, radio
Radio radio... What does he say ?
CarryingConcealed
You can say all the idiotic things that you want about "liberals," but that doesn't necessarily make it true. I don't hear daily news stories about the groups of liberals getting slaughtered in Juarez. If what you said was true, liberals would be flocking there left and right because it's so dangerous and they "honestly believe that everyone loves them simply because they're too stupid and naive to acknowledge the harsh realities of the world." Do you even think about how stupid this sounds before you display it for the world to see, or do you refuse to contemplate your own thoughts because you're worried you might find out you're an idiot?
I don't know enough about the situation to dream of defending the Mexican government,
But where do you think they get their guns from? and were are these gangs selling their drugs?
This is an American made problem. If we weren't so lax with our gun sales,
the gangs couldn't get them from us.
Even "Fast and Furious" (which was started by President Bush 2), was all about trying to track
guns from the US into Mexico.
The rich neighbor with bad habits (that's us: guns, drugs) is messing up our poorer neighbors.
I don't condone what the thugs on either side of the boarder are doing, and this particular case is horrible.
But for all of the Mexico blasters, think the situation through. The US "War of drugs" is not helping anything.
Legalize, monitor and tax this stuff, and take it out of the hands of criminals. Our "war" has created
a boot-leg drug industry and I doubt that that is what we ere hoping for
maninjapan78, read up on FandF my Asian friend. Bush2 canned it and the guns went to Mexico under Odumbo's watch.
Patient: Doctor, it hurts when I do this!
Doctor: Well, don't do that!
You get what you deserve when you go to a known trash dump for Vacation. I don't mean Acapulco specifically... I mean Mexico in general.
Maninjapan--so according to your logic, drugs that are produced in Mexico to feed an American addiction is the US' fault. Also, arms that are produced here in America and then sold to feed Mexico's addiction to guns is still the US' fault. Hmm, so by your logic, everything that goes wrong is the US' fault. Sounds to me like you really hate the US. Do us all a favor and stay on the other side of the Pacific. We already have enough unpatriotic haters in this country, we don't need any more. And the truth about Fast and Furious is that it all happened under Obama and Holder's watch. Operation Wide Receiver was initiated under Bush and they actually tracked the weapons that were allowed to walk. Once they determined that this was still a terrible idea, they scrapped it. So the big question is, Why did Holder and Obama start something similar back up? It certainly wasn't done to determine who the kingpins were since they didn't even bother to track the weapons! Why would they do such a thing? Unfortunately, Pres. "Executive Order" squashed any ability to get to the truth by having the relevant docs sealed. Just what you would expect from the most transparent presidency in history. Those with even the lowest of critical thinking skills can see Fast & Furious for what it was, an attempt to foster public opinion for tighter gun control. Even the MSM played into it by running numerous articles on how some 80+% of all guns used by the Mexican drug cartels originated in the US. Interesting how all these articles suddenly came to a screeching halt once the whistle was blown on F&F. Once the media recognized that there was the potential for this to lead back to their golden boy in the White House, the story was burried.
Mexico has been a failed state for the last 200 years
A diplomatic cable released by Wikileaks shows that 90 percent of the heavy weapons used by the drug cartels come from Central America. The strength of the drug cartels is more attributable to the Mexican government’s inefficiencies than America’s gun laws or consumption of narcotics.
http://frontpagemag.com/2011/ryan-mauro/where-drug-cartels-really-get-their-arms/
If we do as the NRA would suggest every one could have a gun and at any time shoot someone they find disagreeing with them .. the rethugs would love that and the dems would fear for their lives .. a failed state usually has 2 things Illiteracy and a well armed militia so, if we defund our schools and arm the populace ..we will have a fascist state run by the tea party
Independent Jim needs to quit quoting his own opinion as to what the NRA is about. You have no clue, buddy. This story has nothing to do with the NRA is and is just inflammatory @!$%#e spewing out of your orifice.
Mexico's problems aren't just their own, there are politicians on our side getting paychecks from the cartels. There is absolutely no other reason why the border is open and unguarded for the most part. People who talk about legalizing drugs are idiots. Weed isn't the problem, Meth and Heroin are. Who wants to smoke Mexican dirtweed for christsakes? The crime related to Meth and Herion use here is a real and a huge problem. Just the amount of Mexican nationals arrested here for transporting and selling, puts a strain on our jails and law enforcement. Add in all the crime from users and the amount of tax dollars dealing with them... it's mind boggling.
Go to Florida ! Texas ! California ! Georgia ! Save a polar bear. The fuel you save instead of going those long distances would help keep carbon out of the air. spending in the US would help the US economy. Let the failed state of Mexico deal with it. Who needs it ?
maninjapan78,
You realize they get all their guns from liberal South and Central American countries right? Or from our liberal leaders like Comrade Obama. So Obama wants everyone but lawful Americans to have these guns. Seems legit.
I feel sorry for all the tourists. It is horrible for the women for being raped, and horrible for the men to see their loved ones raped. Sadly it is a daily event over there, and only made news because the victims were European.
This is the way they are there and the illegals here are the same people.
Actually, illegal immigrants risk everything to come here (often with the entire family) trying the free from this type of violence.
Your comment reflects an ignorance which resulted in an African-American defeating YOUR party of ignorance TWICE IN A ROW. No worries: Depends and Kleenex Corps have kept up with the huge demands of crybaby LOSER Conservative right wing NUTS.
Hey Jim,
Since you turned the conversation political, I would liek to point out that Mexico has pretty strict gun control laws. So those rapists must be criminals if they have guns.
GTR5 and Jimee - You are both fine examples of the ignorant, divisive rhetoric of the extreme left and right that we see in America today.
Thanks for being the proof in the pudding....or in Mexico it would be Flan. Yum! :P
GTR5, I have Mexican friends who speak & write English better than you. Are you serious with the Mumbo Jumbo? Are you aware that you live in the Serial Killer Capitol of the World? Please tell me you're a real hillbilly so I can understand your lack of grammar skills.
Steve, Rapists are criminals in any country not just Mexico Dork.
The Chuckster-2840003...."Steve, Rapists are criminals in any country not just Mexico
Dork."NOT in some ME countries. The women who are "raped" are STONED TO DEATH. The men who raped the woman get a standing ovation.
Yeah Jimee, we did not cheat. The federal government these days is a joke. Take you black pres and stick him up your ass. He might wiggle like the gerbil that already has residence.
Jimee.......is yo daddy in jail ?...is yo mama pregnant, again ?
Oh, please. If you go to Chicago, you should have your will updated. Face it people, America is more violent.
What a pity. Mexico is a beautiful country, with some very nice people. It would have made a great 51st state. They need to instruct the Army that for every drug cartel they knock over they can divvy up the spoils. There are millions of American dollars stashed in their hideouts. Just burn the drugs, kill the drug lords and split up the cash. Problem fixed.
Fifty-first state? Are you nuts? Mexico is a sovereign country. Let it remain so. Why should it be allowed to join our union and contaminate our country? No way Jose. If you love it that much, move their with my blessings.
essell,
you nearly had it, after the mex american war (what a joke) congress debated about taking all of mexico as a reward for their trumped up war. The US decided not to grab all of mexico because they had just finished killing all the native indians here. Had they taken all of mexico, they would have to commit more genocide. i think we were weary of so much killing of "colored " races. mexico was spared.
EXACTLY!!!! So why is the US is so damned determined to let 11 million at least become citizens of this country????? We need to deport all the illegals and do it now!!!!! The borders need to be shut down tight!!!! Citizens need to be DEMANDING that our government ENFORCE immigration policy not make so much easier to allow the mexican disaster lifestyles run rampant in America!!!!!! Our politicians are all trying to COURT HISPANIC favor rather than protect the citizens of this country. It's well past time that this bull@!$%# is stopped. It's not just Mexicans, hispanics etc. that are taking advantage but they are the majority doing it. It's also sickening that we are allowing "maternity" hotels to Asians to give birth here. Many want their children to be US citizens so they can go to college here or get around one child rules. Makes it OK to birth US citizens and return totheir country with multiple children or avoid aborting female fetuses. It's time America to care of it's own problems and our own people. We are NOT the worlds' caretakers!!!!!!!
Sophie you say illegal immigrants risk everything to come to this country. Why the heck aren't they banding together and risking everything to take back their country and make it a safe place to live, work and raise a family???? What do those that are unable to speak, read or write english bring to our work force?? Very little!!! Many of them are uneducated or illiterate in their own language. Way too many are committing crimes, gangbanging, and sitting in our prisons while their families rely on government assistance. They should be fighting for change and reform in their own country rather than mooching off the American taxpayers. Americans fought the British for our freedoms, the Mexicans can and should be fighting for theirs!!!!!!!
Because you're all too fat and lazy to mow your own lawns, handle manual labor and too proud to work a menial job.
We supply the guns, we demand the drugs, most of the drug cartel leaders are US citizens,
and somehow, this is all "their" fault? Mexico was a poor developing country and then we started exporting
guns. Catch a clue. We push our gun culture on the rest of the world.
Chicago has tuff gun laws too, but if
gun shops in neighboring cities, that care only about making a buck have lax or no laws, then
well, we have Chicago, and Mexico is the same. Bad neighbors make for a bad home situation.
I think its kind of dumb to sell someone a gun, and then complain when they come and rob you with it,
or worse. The second amendment is just fine, but what happened to the "well regulated" part?
@maninjapan78 The lawmakers in Chicago set the precedent for the entire state of IL. The gangs that are the problem in Chicago don't go to neighboring cities to buy their guns, they are stolen and brought in and sold out of the trunk of a cars in whatever alley all over the city. They aren't purchased legally, the people buying them couldn't purchase them even in neighboring states! Get rid of the gangs in Chicago and you get rid of the illegal guns. You can't make a broad statement about "well regulated" when you are comparing the entire country to Chicago!
What guns are we exporting to a country that only police, military and drug cartels are allowed to have them? It's not like the gun manufacturers are sending them to a gun store in Mexico! Oh, you must be talking about Fast and Furious! I don't think a botched government sting counts as "exporting"!
Maninjapan, you apparently have no idea what "well-regulated" means. At the time of the writing of the Constitution, it was was a widely used phrase that meant "in good working order", not "controlled by the government".
If gun control actually worked, Chicago and Washington, DC should be shining examples of it considering they have the toughest gun laws in the nation. Chicago and DC are, instead, the gun crime capitols of the country. The fact of the matter is that the areas of our country with the laxest gun laws have the lowest gun crime rates. Criminals don't care what gun laws say, the only people that actually abide by them are the sorts of people who aren't going to go out and commit a violent crime with a gun anyway. Tell me how that makes any of us safer? And never mind the estimated 2 million crimes per year that are thwarted by armed citizens... that doesn't fit in with the gun control agenda.
But you know, don't let facts and actual cold, hard statistics get in the way of your namby pamby liberal view of the world that has nothing to do with reality.
OMG Jimee Jones
Are you back to your stupid Depends and Kleenex comments again? You posted them ad nauseum after the election. You are obsessive and need help, besides realizing that you are a total bore.
People; this is about rape victims on vacation in Acapulco. There were Spanish. What does this have to do with Republicans, Democrats, our HALF Black president, etc..? There are beautiful places in Mexico to visit; unfortunately the criminal element is everywhere in this impovorished country, so if you decide to go; be cautious and know that these things happen even in nice tourist resorts. Yes; Costa Rica is supposed to be a very nice place to go; friendly people, beautiful beach vacation spots, and not very expensive.
I have lived and worked in Mexico a lot the last 30 years. You have to be careful just like in lots of places. I still travel there, and I follow the suggestions of the people I am with as far as security even when it seems excessive. As for GTR5 my suggestion is for you to take the white sheet off your head and shove it up your AZZ, you gutless little sissy
That white sheet IS his head.
Years ago I lived in Mexico and have visited Acapulco many times since I was a child in the 80's and it was fantastic back then. Today I go for business and never leave the resort I stay at for conventions. The Cartels have taken over the state of Guerrero unfortunately and Acapulco is the last safe-haven in that state. Driving outside of the touristy areas of Acapulco is just asking for trouble. The west coast of Mexico is quickly becoming dangerous for tourists and Mexicans alike due to Cartel expansion. Cancun and Huatulco are still good options for tourists that want to go to "safer" Mexican paradises.
If Mexico was boycotted as a tourist destination and nobody went there the Mexican government would clean up the mess.
No.They'd just continue to send their illegal immigrants across the border as they are encouraging, sponsoring, and supporting them in that effort now (Mexican Consulate).
Essell,
did you misspell your screen name? is it Assell?
The ONLY Acapulco I go to is the fast food chain here in town to get some really good burridoes FOR CHEAP, and only on taco tuesday in case the vatos have themselves a shoot-out around the joint.
ayeinfield-having trouble accepting truth and have to resort to name calling??? You sound more like the azz.
There are a lot of safer, nicer places to vacation right here in the U.S. Mexico is NOT safe.
By now the second generation of thugs is on its way to do the same. Unless Mexicans clean their act they can say goodbye to tourism, investments and decent international relations.
Unless Americans are willing to drop the pipe, needle and spoon that funds these Mexican criminals South of the Line, then Mexico will improve. Mexico is where it is at because America's drug users demand drugs and cheap labor from Mexighanistan. Plain, simple and the truth! How can America protect what's wanting to enter (drugs and related crime) the castle if it refuses to rid itself from what (druggies) is already inside!
Your premise is that America pulling drugs caused it all. Drugs is as much a consequence as a cause. Where do we begin? Easier ( and somewhat helpful) to remove a material thing like drugs than to remove a mental need for drugs. If drugs are generated in Mexico, then why not have the Mexicans take care of that end? Al;so we grow most of our own weed in this country anymore, we don't need the Mexican weed. I don't know, maybe in fact the situation is worse in Mexico because we slowed the buying of their drugs. So what's going on here? the decent Mexicans are here looking for work while the Mexican thugs are down there wrecking havoc? And we should fix that???
Drug use in America is not worse than in the past so why is crime going up down there, aside from the economic situation worldwide? Plus Spanish senoritas getting raped has nothing to do with us. We can't blame ourselves for everything.
I'm against exploiting Mexicans in this country. I think legal people should get the jobs, get paid better wages, stimulate the economy and help Mexican tourism and economy because they could afford it. Heck they might even do less drugs and crime in this country if they could get work that pays decently. Mexico is beautiful in most places that are not run down with poverty. This whole situation is BS and just out of balance.
I don't demand cheap Mexican labor. I want legal normally priced labor. I like Mexicans in Mexico. I found them happier there. And I bet if it was possible, overall they'd rather be there too.
Legalizing drugs will not put the cartels out of business, it will only cut into their profit. Take cigarettes for example, the bulk of the cost is taxes. I didn't mind paying the tax when it was fair, now it's obscene, therefore I buy my smokes on the black market from SE Asia and pay less than half of retail. The cartels will only lower prices to beat that of the so called fair market. Our government is too greedy to place a fair and equitable tax on drugs. And rest assured only some politician or his cronies will be permitted to be an approved drug "importer/distributor". Does the name Kennedy ring a bell?
@sawman62
Does the name cancer or emphysema ring a bell yet?
Well, the extra taxes might help offset all the money hospitals have to spend on tracheotomies. A lot of states sued the cigarettes companies over health care costs a few years ago. SE Asia cigarettes from the black market will only kill you faster, so all those savings will be for nothing. But you are so smart!!
Another that wants to be regulated by big brother. You don't deserve the freedom you have!
Definitely a country NOT to go to. What a @!$%# hole!
Said the person that lives in a country where children get killed in their classrooms, or in movie theaters, or just sitting at a park with friends...
Did you know there's been 1,619 or more more gun related deaths in the US since the Sandy Hook killings?
What a @!$%# hole!
yeah, i gree Sophie.
'merka isn't looking so good. 'merka is the $hit-hole when it comes to gun violence.
If you folks don't like "Merika" then don't let the door hit in the ass on the way out!!!!! Seriously, you want to slam this country then answer this: Exactly what are you doing to make it any better????? You help in homeless shelters, volunteer in public schools, do any kind of good works, donations etc..???????? If not then you probably should STFU!!!!!
Actually, America isn't even in the to 10 in the world when you start looking at gun violence. You just don't hear about it in the other countries because they don't have freedom of speech to make it known by the world!
Sophie, please tell us how many people have been killed by cars, drugs, knives, blunt objects, human hands, etc. Overall, gun violence in the US is way down from what it was 20 years ago and trending further downward. If you factored out inner-city gang deaths and suicides, your Brady Bunch sponsered number of 1,619 would plunge down well below 1K. Just a few inconvenient truths that you lib, gun haters always seem to pass over.
Sophie-2250605,
And Sophie, you do know that a vast majority of those gun deaths have occurred in cities with tight gun control like Chicago right? And three tragic events out of 300 million people is better than most places on Earth. You know the UK and Australia have higher rates of violent crime right? Ignorance Sophie lends you her face.
Regardless of what the travel agencies tell you, Mexico is as dangerous, if not more so, than Pakistan, Afghanistan or Iran at present. It's just not worth going there.
But..but..but ...the great deals to come!
That's amazing! I can't even remember the last time I've spoken with an actual Travel Agent.
too bad they have strickt gun laws..... how do you think how things ended if they shot back. would you lay down and die or would you die fighting being raped or watching you wife daughter mom being raped.... this is a good example why guns should not be outlawed to the average man woman.
So you're suggesting Tourists have guns now?
I sure wouldn't go to mexico without a gun
Well, good luck entering Mexico with a gun... say hi to Pancho when they take you to your cell.
Got mucho tiempo in Mexighanistan, not as bad as the-bought-and-paid-for media, who don't live among the locals, make it to be. Be-headings si. Seen many times more elsewhere. Still rotten to the core? Yes. If you don't understand how a POS government works, don't go. If you can't communicate in their language, don't go. If you're unwilling to live among the folks who don't have a say as to how their lives will play, don't go. I had three goats, six camels and was speaking a mix of Dari and Pesh. Not to mention six months without a bath! I've been to craphole nations across the globe where Uncle sent me. Southeast Asia, Africa, Central America, the Balkans to the Middle East $hitholes. I speak four languages other than English. I've seen dumb asses vacationing in Somalia, Syria, A-Stan and P-Stan, Rwanda etc. and can't see any reason why they do! Go figure. I go to Mexighanistan repeatedly and there's no comparison to Honduras, El Salvador or Nicaragua. Mexico is tons better. Unlike other $hithole countries foreigners see very little violence against them, especially Mexighanistan! The Media makes it to be the worst only because the Media has access to Mexico. Mexico really isn't. The Media can't tell the real truth about the others because they don't have access. If I were a Spaniard, Mexico and Central America would be the last place I'd vacation. That's like an Israeli Jew vacationing in a Sunni country like Saudi Arabia or Shiite Iran, or a Japanese vacationing in North Korea! Unfortunately, old hatred still brews. Mexicans are seen as bottom feeders by the Spanish and Mexicans see then equally as vile. Someone pissed off someone. Personally, I wouldn't vacation in Mexighanistan or any other places Uncle has sent me. That's only because I know how crappy lawless countries are. I live along the Arizona/Mexighanistani border, been to more places in Mexico than most Mexicans and I'm a Hispanic!! I go down there because I know it like I know the US! If you're a foreigner, it don't take much to piss off the locals, anywhere! I know there's more to the story as being reported. Sad picture all around. Sophie, it's really easy to get hardware of the trade (guns) in country. Really easy and cheaper than the US. No need to bring any from the US. You'd be surprised how many guns are coming into the US from Mexighanistan along with the dope and cheap labor America needs!
I wanted to see how many intelligent comments would be posted by the pubic. Out of 11 responses I count 5 maybe 6....whats the point of these comment boards if they are populated by ignorant trolls who use any story to bash foreigners, gays, minorities, etc....It looks as if intolerance which is not accepted in mainstream society has found a new home on message boards. However this is still better than the fox message boards, those truly are populated by the best and the brightest the US has to offer...
I'm not commenting on the rape part of the story, but the robbing part. Back before the keep up with the Jonses crap marketing frenzy,Mexicans could and did take care of thier own. They have pretty much had to take care of themselves any way they can since the morality factors have slipped away. The only easy answer may be to let the Darwin theory sort it out. Zombies Ahoy!
Actually the term foreigners may not apply. The story was about crime in Mexico committed by nationals, not foreigners. I guess what I am saying is that in America we have a habit of travelling outside our soil to other countries yet we still call them foreigners and talk about their accents. When we are in their nation it is we that are the foreigners with the accents. As for minorities, once again Mexicans are not the minorities in this story because the context is that they are in Mexico, where they are the majority.
John: Mainstream? Of what? I don't agree with your world, and thats OK. Do you know why? I'm American; why are you on here?.
What did you expect? Pretty easy to trash anyone when you don't have to face them. Sorry buddy that"s the way it is in the internet world.
themadplumber, people get raped here in the U.S. all the time. Haven't you ever picked up a Newspaper? The element of surprise is how a Rapist takes advantage of a situation. You can have all the guns in the world but if you are not alert or aware of you surroundings, well, you get the picture. I agree with you on one thing though, I would rather go down in a hail of bullets, no doubt about it.
6 at a time,Geez
6 at a time was at least using time wisely and practicing ergonomics. There where 15 guys though so with only 6 women someone had to do the three extra guys. Now that was one hell of a game of rock, paper, Mexican rapist.
adios, mexico. You've been living off tourist dollars for decades. Howya gonna pay the bills, now that NOBODY is coming there with greenbacks anymore?
Gordo, Mexico's been living off America's need for Mexican dope and cheap labor for decades. Tourist-based business are the laundromats for that never-ending flow of American druggie dollars. The next time you go to Cosco see who pays cash for their platform-loaded cart when you use plastic to pay for toilet paper. Yeah, it's the folks from el otro lado! You come across as another ignorant to the issue person who'll hire my Nana instead of hiring a real Nanny and then get pissed that your kids speak better Espanol than you do English! And when it comes time for you to give her all that backpay (because of your overuse of plastic) you call INS! Oye, Gordo. Todos tus amigos que usan drogas seguran que pagamos nuestros cuentas con Dolares!
I'm translating my last sentence for Gordon3485525. All your drug user friends ensure that we pay our bills with Dollars!
The same way they have always paid for it, American drug users. You actually believe tourism is their greatest source of American income? So long as we consume coke, weed, heroine, and other assorted drugs rather than legalize it here and stop importing, they will continue to grow and sell to the US.
I blame druggies and govt officials that allow the trade to exist by being soft on users at the white collar level. Drugs are big business so Mexico can be as violent as they want and rape as many tourist as they can round up and no one cares. Stay out of Mexico, or at least lube up on the plane. No rapist deserves to be inconvenienced by having to provide his own lube.
Large propagation fields are impossible in this day and age without corrupt authorities. Heroine addicts don't hold jobs so how do they pay for habit? Same with other types of drug users, breaking other laws or causing injury to others. Wanting drugs legal is moronic.
In America--the Mexicans have cost the United States tax payer alot of money---
$113,000,000,000.00--Cost of Mexican illegals--70% of cost passed on to the states
1,400,000-illegal Mexican households drawing benefits-----food stamps--subdized housing--wic--free phone supplementary social security---medicaid------------------------------------------------------------------- In the city of Albuquerque N.M.--a illegal Mexican--Juan Galindo--raped and killed a one month old baby girl--charged with serial assult--baby found a pool of her own blood--there were visible vag-inal tears and a-nal tears--baby had previous fractures and brain bleeding injuries--Illegals have now brought the ( TB ) GERM to America---and now Obama has gave amnesty to 800,00 illegals so they could get jobs and would not be deported--doing that is like waving a flag saying come on and get the benifits---Ronald Reagan tryed that by giving amnesty to 2,000,000 illegals--and more came---48,000,000 already on food stamps
This could be The Death Blow for Tourism to Mexico...
Maybe so but the reverse is happening before our eyes: They're coming here instead... and not leaving! And, they'll soon get to stay.
I am sure the death blow is what those rapist received by raping wives at gun point. Pity the guy that pissed his wife off the night before. She probably looked him in the eyes and winked. Ah a good rape joke is hard to pass up.
Yeah, I hope, people just don't listen, they have been warning us for years now not to go there....WTH
I have a great idea, let's send the 11.5 million illegal immigrants back to Mexico to wait in line like every other law abiding foreign national and while they are there waiting to obtain "legal" entry to our country, they can join in the fight to secure their nation's future by enlisting in law enforcement, the Mexican Army, Navy, Marines, boy scouts, whatever to overthrow the cartels. An army of 11 million surely would have an impact on any war on the planet. I'll even volunteer to divert the $17,000 a year in tax money I spend on supporting illegal immigrants toward the cause... Prolem(s) solved.
ok, now all you bleeding heart liberals, start your rants!...
The problem is - they are worth their weight in votes here in the U.S. 11.5 million of them apparently. And, one party has figured out that they are going to all vote for them. They are probably right. Rewarded behavior is usually confirmed or recipricated.
Sounds like a plan except for the fact that we have far more than 11 million drug users that would only mitigate any good that may have been possible. As soon as those 11 million hit Mexican soil they would be hired by the cartels to move drugs back across the borders. Talk about a back fire.
Armor. I have a better idea. Lets kick out all the druggies clogging our prisons (a la Marielitos) and send them and 11.5 million illegal drug users to Mexico. That way the drugs and junkies stay in Mexighanistan. An army of that size can join the fight to secure their place in their new country. Now there's some tax money being saved!
Damned straight!!! Tell it like it is and should be!!!!! If those wanting to be citizens here returned to Mexico and fought for their country it would be the END of the cartels and the corrupt government!!!! What does the the fact that they don't, won't and never will do this tell you????
Alan
I'm not sure if this makes any sense to you, but only citizens can vote. These 11.5 million you speak of had no impact on the past election. The only people busted for voter fraud were white republicans.
Only legal citizens can vote in the states that required ID be shown at the polling stations anyway. There were plenty of Democrats caught and prosecuted for trying to vote multiple times. You just don't here about it in the MSM.
Last year I met an American expat who lives in Mexico. He said that there are about 500k Mexicans deported from the US to Mexico each year. If what he told me is accurate, deportations are happening in large numbers.
This agrees with other news articles I've read that indicate that 1) fewer Mexicans are leaving their country to come to the US because it's not as lucrative as it once was, and 2) deported Mexicans are having difficulty adjusting to life back in their native country because they often never learned Spanish (especially if they arrived in the US when they were young).
Jane, no one has deported more illegals than the Obama administration. That ex-pat is on que. At DMAFB in Tucson a huge INS facility was built to house those being deported. The Obama administration moved to have this clearing house built when all previous presidents including Clinton refused. I know southern Arizona and the northern half of Mexico better than most folks know their neighborhood. Got decades of real working experience on this subject and that of the Narco-life and I'll tell you that the days of housing illegals forever went out the window. They get processed, loaded into contract busses and shipped to el otro lado (the other side) mighty quick! I've never seen so many busses on I-19 South to Nogie (Nogales) and Douglas/Agua Prieta these last two years! So when you hear that the Obama administration isn't doing anything about illegals, I'll tell you the numbers being deported speaks for itself. I didn't vote for him but the job is being done! I know folks who drive the busses for the contractors hired to transport the illegals back to Mexighanistan. One is a neighbor and is one of many sources of info. Got lots of family on both sides of the issue, both sides of the border and both sides of the law. A big chunk of those being deported will always return to be deported again.
Finally, some accurate information is being shared on a news-story blog. I applaud you.
"The west coast of Mexico is quickly becoming dangerous for tourists and Mexicans alike due to Cartel expansion."
El wrongo Gringo! I live in La Paz, Baja and often drive from Nogales to Los Moches and get on the ferry to La Paz. I have had NO problema in all the years I have been living here and traveling along the west coast of Mexico. i would suggest that the Mexican state department issue a warning to its citizens who might be vacationing (or even sneaking into) in the USA. They might say "even an average citizen is packing heat" or something like that. If you are an anglo US citizen you will have no problem where ever you go in Mexico. If you are "Mexican" or have relatives here (Mexico) you may be more likely to have some problems - but, most Mexicans who travel to resort cities or even Mexico City have no problems. God God, look at the crime rate in the US! I worry more about traveling through Tucson and Phoenix and the rest of Arizona than Nogales.
Get a grip gringos. If you get hurt here its probably because you fell off of a bar stool!
A mexican named Barney Anderson?
Barney -
If you think it is more dangerous in the US, you haven't looked at international crime statistics. Do some research. Save yourself.
Orale! Pinche Barney! I got a chingo of familia en el otro lado, ese! On both sides of the issue and both sides of the law and you're right. I have never had a problem in Mexighanistan, from the coyoteras to the colonias de oro. None! American's of non Hispanic ethnicity rarely get bothered as tourist-based businesses are the laundromats for narco money. They pay points, period! F**k with their washing machines (tourist-based business) by robbing turistas and the Narcos will plant your ass and display your head as a message. That's the reason there's such a battle in Mexico. The drug routs are bought and paid for. If you cross you gotta mule a load. There's so much American Juknkie Dollars there that the narcos are going legit. They realize that a laundered dollar in an American Bank is worth more than a thousand dirty dollars in Mexighanistan, period! Tourist-based businesses are their laundromats!. If it ain't approved by the mero-mero, crooking tourists ain't gonna happen. An extreme chance that these perpetrators will loose their heads literally. The only other thing I can see why this happened is that the tourists are from Spain. Unfortunately Mexicans for the most part still maintain a hate for Spaniards to this day as Spaniards tend to be a$$holes to the Mexicans and have no problems expressing it. Much like the French and Brits in their former colonies. Got decades of real working experience on the subject and am Hispanic of a Basque father and Mexican/Apache mother. Figure that out... Anyhow a sad picture all around. And yes, the narcos would rather shoot it out with the cops here in America because they know that they're out gunned and Americans can really shoot!
Sorry to be off-topic, but I too DO NOT believe a ...
A mexican named Barney Anderson? No Freekin WAY !!
You must be one'a them Fakey-Jakey Mexicans. BWAAAhahaha. Rudolpho The Red Nosed Reindeer.
I gorfot now -- WHAT'S THE TOPIC OF DISCUSSION??
I'm sure there IS a person in Mexico named Barney Anderson. There are over 1 million expatriates from the US and Canada who live there.
and we want to make them citizens?
No, no need to make them citizens, they just roll across our borders untouched. The more their raping, murdering, drug cartel ways ruin tourism and any other source of legal income in Mexico, the more of them flood across the border and become Obama's stepchildren.
A lawless nation with both feet still in the Cave.
Haven't been to Mexico in years. This kind of thing is why. Better places to spend your $'s.
National Security? forget about North Korea, Iran and Afghanistan just take a look at your neighbors to the south? Secure our borders? WHY?
Take a look at your neighbors next door using Mexican drugs and Mexican labor to build our homes. Face it, if we had to pay for American made drugs or labor, we could not nearly afford the habits we have or homes we live in.
This story isn't even about American tourist getting raped so why do we care? The true victims are those poor husbands having to take sloppy seconds. Least the rapist could have done is let the husbands go out to the casinos and be given a time to return. To tie them up and force them to see their wives naked was wrong. No husband wants to see his wife naked when they went on vaca to Mexico to see young Mexican women in thongs on the beach.
Wow. Kevin.
Just --- WOW.
@Dancing Spiderman: Indeed! There are a few on here in need of some serious therapy. Has NBC stopped using monitors? This whole thread needs to be deleted. Amazing. Can you imagine walking around with this kind of ignorant hate oozing out of you? They must have some real bad fears that have been ginned up by those whistling all the way to the bank. Gross. Putrid. And gross again.
What is sad is that it should not come any surprise to anybody that this type of thing did not happen before.
lawlessness is rampant in Mexico and even death is gruesome due to drug violence..
So far the foreigners have been spared the violence, but, its somewhat inevitable these thing would happen sooner or later.
Didn't keep Prez Obama from sending his daughter there for spring break last year at taxpayers expense!
Tapado ...
You're an idiot. Any president will have secret service protection following his children whether they are in Mexico or Florida. What's your point??? Right, you don't have one
My point dickwad is that the state department issued a warning against travel in Mexico and then our fearless leader sends his daughter there. If you don't see a problem with that I would argue who's the idiot!
Obama did not send them there in the context of father and daughter but as POTUS and daughters of our lead statesman. We do business with Mexico and it will always best serve the relationship between US and Mex that our elected officials and their families keep up appearances.
Obama's kids are not in harms way at any time. They are in more danger from some hee haw hickadoodle in America than some Mexican booty bandit in Mexico.
I've been to Mexico City for 3 one week stays in the last 5 years without any problems at all.
That should make you feel awful. If you are a woman and no one wants to rape you then what does that say?
If you are a husband and your wife went with you, divorce her. If she isn't worthy the attentions of a Mexican rapist then why do you want her?
Are you gay? Not that there is anything wrong with it.
In 1961, I was in Acapulco with a group of Americans and French Canadians, just yakking on the beach at night. Suddenly, I saw a side by side shotgun, looked up and there was a Mexican policeman. A turn of the head and there was another policeman with a shotgun. The French Canadians spoke Spanish and said the two policemen wanted $10.00. The FC paid. They told us the night before a fellow was dragging a stick along a fence while drunk and the police shot him dead. To not mess around down there. In the 70's, two Canadian couples were shot dead during the day as they were walking in the Acapulco resort area. Acapulco was never safe and has only gotten worst. I will pray for those poor people.
Despite clear warnings and bona fide evidence of the dangers of Mexico- in Acapulco at a resort that's supposedly 'safe' no less- some naysayers will ignore it a go anyway thinking this is just a set of isolated incidents. That's fine- this now qualifies people for Darwin Awards and there is always a new recipient somewhere in the world.
It really amazes me that anyone would vacation in Mexico. All it does is contribute to the crime and poverty. Walk a few blocks from those classy, "perfect" resorts and you find poverty, crime, corruption, whatever.
Jim are you talking about Mexico or Atlantic City, NJ. But if you really wanted facts you could look them up and you will find a City called Portland which is higher than the US average in every violent crime statistic except murder. But rape, robbery and assault Oregon has it in spades. Glass house much?
Heyseed as an Oregon resident I can confidently state that you are seriously full of crap!!!! Don't even try to compare violence in Mexico to Portland!!!!! Truth is it's black and hispanic gangs in certain parts of Portland and Eugene that are the main problem and a true minority to this state. Most areas' of Oregon are some of the most beautiful country in the entire USA and many of are towns are extremely desirable places to live. I would take Portland over Mexico any day of the year!!!!
Oh man, something tells me Heyseed has never been to Portland. I can't think of another large metro area that I've ever felt safer in. Even walking down Burnside at 3AM, no worries. I'm sure there are some areas that would be best avoided, but trying to insinuate that Oregon is a dangerous state is completely ludicrous. I do live in a smaller city (Bend, about 80,000 pop), but I feel just as safe in Portland as I do here in the High Desert.
I thought guns were illegal in Mexico?
Yes, this should be one of the safest places in the world outside of DC and Chicago of course.
And gun free zones everywhere! Yay! Only criminals shall have guns.
they should make rape illegal too and then this wouldnt happen.
No, like the US, guns are legal for citizens to own. And like the US, illegal drugs fuel much of the violence.
They buy them in Arizona at Big 5.
The majority of gun crime is committed by people that do NOT buy the weapons legally and are bought for the purpose of committing crimes. There is a relatively small a mount of crime committed by legal US gun owners. Your BS just doesn't fly!!!! Most legal gun owners are not out flying high on drugs trying to commit crimes!!!!!
Alas, skrewworld, with 50,000 guns stolen every year in the US, the legal gun owners don't take very good care of their purchase. Moreover, just look at the series of high profile cases where felons and seriously mentally ill have been able to buy guns "legally" due to a lack of a background check.
