There needs to be a way to un-collapse a collapsed comment. I've seen what looked like mob mentality used to collapse a comment that didn't appear to be very controversial, derogatory, or inflammatory.

However...asking for a feature like that from Newsvine is too much to ask I fear, as they can't seem to figure out a way to get to your comment history without something that resmbles the old teenage version of a Chinese Firedrill.

All you have to do to expand a collapsed comment is to click on the + sign next to it so I assume you mean permanently expand it. Unfortunately, there is no way to do that.

Some sites allow one to enter a single POSITIVE or a single NEGATIVE vote. As long as the NEGATIVES outnumber the POSITIVES by 10 votes the comment is collapsed. Here one can only vote NEGATIVE meaning that those who agree with a comment have no vote.

It is sad, to see, stupidity has no bounds. People who profess themselves, to hate the Jewish and most likely several people, are a live and well, all over the world. I believe here in the United States, illiterate parents, teach their children same hatred. They have never seen pictures of the dead bodies, from the death camps, being plowed, into trenches. The memory, of those movies are still emblazoned, in my memory and I still cannot imagine anyone, torturing another human being, for any reason.

I remember when I was a little girl, my dad needed an electrician. The man was black. In those days, (1950s) I didn't know about racism or bigotry. My dad introduced us to the electrician and then told us, go do our house work. I can remember yelling to my sisters, "Last one in the house is a "N" baby!" Within a few seconds, my Dad was in the house, he took off his belt and I got a whipping. I was not sure why but, Dad said, I was never to use that word again!

Of course, back then, they did not refer to themselves as blacks but I got the message. Bill usually delivered the mail, just when I was returning to school, after lunch. The thought of hurting his feelings, always remained with me. Bill was my friend and he knew so much. So I never used the "N" word again. Not only because, it is a hateful and derogatory word but, it is stupid! Any one race, religion or ethnicity, is not, of more value than another. And this is where the topic of this story comes enters.

These people, who hold up anti Semitic signs, have been taught hatred, by their parents. They most likely have never heard or read of the Holocaust.

Of course, as I became an adult and my education and ability to read books, on the subject, of prejudice, I was able to realize, racism and bigotry is taught from one generation to another. Racism is stupidity.

To address those who have brought up "collapsing comments" or "censorship" or "violation of 1st Amendment rights" in this thread ... a bit of a response.

First, the "community" that collapses comments is us. Those of us on here who read them. We are the Newsvine community. I do think that Newsvine brings on the collapsing however. It gives us, the community, an easy way to AGREE with a post. However, we do not have an easy way to DISAGREE. The only option is to report it. The addition of a simple "down arrow" would solve this problem. Many of us have been advocating it for years now .. to no avail. There are many comments I disagree with. I don't have the time (or desire) to respond to all of them. However, just because I disagree does not mean I feel they should not be posted. Again, a simple "down arrow" would solve this issue.

On to "censorship". For the most part, Newsvine is "self censored". Yes, that's that pesky community again of Newsvine users! We don't like a comment, therefore we report it and eventually it gets collapsed and sometimes deleted (although I think only staff can do that).

As to a violation of 1st Amendment "rights". Every time I see someone complaining about THIS one ... I can't decide whether to laugh (because it's so ridiculous) or cry (because the poster is so sadly uneducated on the Constitution). Nothing that happens on Newsvine, which is a PRIVATE ENTITY is a First Amendment violation. The First Amendment simply states that Congress (expanded to the government) shall make no law. It says nothing about BUSINESSES not being able to make rules on what is allowed, or not allowed, on their sites.

Finally, people need to realize that freedom of speech does not equate to speech without consequences ... even on Newsvine. If the community/owner does not like your speech .... the CONSEQUENCE is collapse ... or deletion. But it's not an infringement on your rights!

I've seen some comments collapsed that were, in my opinion of course, genuine thought provokers that angered a certain demographic. The most notable of these occurring in discussions about Israel. Comments get collapsed quicker than you can blink an eye. Some need to be collapsed.......many do not, again in my opinion. What I would like to see is a way for the general audience to undo those gangsters that pounce on a legitimate point of view and collapse it. I would think a person who disagrees with the collapse should be able to leave it expanded and be counted a vote against the collapse or simply have a mechanism such as the reverse of 'no value'. Several months ago I lodged a complaint with the moderators at Newsvine about the ability of the "community" to collapse comments. My particular complaint concerned the fact that if the "community" collapsed a complaint then all of the responses were automatically collapsed as well. I was told by the moderators that they were going to remove the ability of the "community" to collapse comments and that was going to happen very soon. Clearly they only told me that to get me to stop complaining.

I was a home care hospice nurse for many years. My territory covered rural area, to the inner city.

A majority of my patients were Jewish and Muslim. While the rest was a mixture of religions and cultures. I so enjoyed going from mansions to the poorest of apartments because I learned so much about the beliefs and cultures, each patient and their families shared with me. One thing I found was both Jewish and Muslims are a very clean people. They welcomed me into their homes and offered me anything they had. They made me feel welcome in their homes. But the people who were very poor, did the same. Thye did not have as much but I was welcomed to whatever they had.

Gene Simmons's mother grew up in a time, when they believed blacks were inferior to them. She was in a concentration camp but she did not realize why. My grand parents were less educated and less worldly than the people of today. there is good and bad in every culture. I don't think of Gene Simmons's as bigot, do you? That's because my generation has and those after me, have better educations and are exposed to different people of other cultures. Of course there are still bigots in the world. People who are well educated and wealthy, who believe because they have more, they deserve better. They are no better than the people who wear white hoods over their heads. One day, after they will face their past, just like all of us. When they die, they will leave with what they came with, nothing. They will not have beautiful faces, bodies or clothes, and they will be judged by what they are not who they are.

First, it is not self hatred. Nowhere even close. This is not a one size fits all.

As you well know, Jews have always been at the forefront of civil rights, be it in Alabama, where they marched side by side with King, or, here in L.A. where they were the first whites to sell their homes to blacks. To this day, several black neighborhoods are so because Jews migrated out of those neighborhoods and sold to blacks, in spite of land covenants that prohibited it.

SOME say that Jews acted this way because they, having been the target of discrimination, would not in turn, act this way against others. I'm sure that this is at least partially correct.

I hear what you are saying, but I do thing that the over-inflated self-love does stem from an underlying self-hatred. It's a fear that there is something "Wrong" with the person and a deep, paranoid fear that it will lead to loss of life, loss of rights. One is driven in a desperate way to elevate themselves over another group so that the other group will naturally, be cast as inferior whilst they promote themselves to superior status.

Time will tell. I am optomistic about the future. Things will get worse before they get better (much worse), but they will get better. I am guessing that you are a Christian? yes. It is apparent that you have given this a lot of thought and that's good. But I think often people tend to overthink things. I know I sometimes do. The simplest solution is usually the correct one. You may recall that Jesus said that his Father reveals his truths to children and hides it from intellectuals. I won't bother citing verses here but can if you want me to. How does he do this? By keeping it simple. Children understand simple. Often adults overlook it, just like trying to solve simple riddles. Consider also that a lot of people, just as did the Pharisees, make a handsome living by keeping religious interpretation complicated. But all of God's great things are simple and free.

The temple that was going to be rebuilt or "raised up in three days" was Jesus' body. That has already happened. That happened when he was resurrected on Easter. The present nation of Isreal has nothing whastsoever to do with God's work or prophecies. Paul made it clear in Romans that God's Isreal today- and then- was/is the Christian congregation. God doesn't work with multiple groups. There's One Way. One Savior. One Son of God. The 37th and 38th Chapters of Ezeliel are talking about the same event that Revelations calls Armageddon- or Harmageddon. And the 4th Chapter of Daniel makes it clear also that ALL earthly govts will be crushed when the time comes. I think that economic pressures will make it convenient for governments to justify dissolving all religions and confiscating their assets. Look at how much debt is being piled up by govts and how much money is just sitting there, usually tax exempt for religions. And look at how much meddling in politics is done by religion and religous leaders. It will be easy to justify. The world govts will eventually abolish all religions except one.( Look at Ezekiel 37 and 38). Most people will simply abandon their religion. But God's true servants will not. Eventually, the powers that be will be scratching their heads about how they missed this one group and will decide to get it too. That will trigger God's intervention. He won't protect blood-guilty groups like the Vatican or the Hindus or Islam but he will defend his true followers. In the end, the only survivors will be God's people. Either you're one of his or you don't belong on His Earth. So once he is forced to intervene to save his true servants, it will be a very bad day for everyone else, including Israel and Washington D.C. There will be no distinction between Beijing and Tel Aviv or Seattle.

a) Return of ALL land seized in '67. (ok..let's assume Israel agrees)
