Oscar Pistorius known as the 'Blade Runner' appeared in the Pretoria Magistrates Court for allegedly killing his model girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in a shooting incident.
UPDATED: 4:30 p.m. ET: The management company of “Blade Runner” Paralympic star Oscar Pistorius, who allegedly shot and killed his girlfriend, model Reeva Steenkamp, has cancelled all of his future races, according to a statement released Sunday.
“I have decided that following these tragic events that we have no option but to cancel all future races that Oscar Pistorius had been contracted to compete in, to allow Oscar to concentrate on the upcoming legal proceedings and to help and support all those involved as they try to come to terms with this very difficult and distressing situation,” Pistorius' agent Peet Van Zyl said in a statement.
Pistorius had been contracted to compete in five races between March 9 and May 25 in Australia, Brazil, the United States and England.
Van Zyl said that all of Pistorius’ partners and sponsors were supportive and their contractual commitments remain intact, but “they are happy to let the legal process take its course before making any change in their position.”
Pistorius was charged on Friday with murdering Steenkamp at his home, although the athlete vehemently denied the accusation in a statement issued by his agent on Friday.
A reality television show featuring Steenkamp was aired in South Africa Saturday night, two days after she was killed.
A pre-recorded clip on the “Tropika Island of Treasure” show featured the law graduate talking about her "exit" from the series, which is filmed in the Caribbean.
As Pistorius spends his fourth day in jail, more details are emerging of what allegedly happened inside his home early that morning, NBC's Michelle Kosinski reports.
"I think that the way you go out, not just your journey in life but the way that you go out and you make your exit is so important," she said in the clip – words which have a new meaning in light of her death, in the early hours of Thursday.
Speaking directly to the camera, she said: "I'm gonna miss you all so much. And I love you very, very much."
As Pistorius remained in a Pretoria police station awaiting his next bail hearing on Tuesday, media reports carried more lurid details about the events surrounding Steenkamp’s death.
South African newspaper The Sunday Tribune reported claims by an un-named female friend of Pistorius that he called her frantically asking for help after the shooting, while UK newspaper The People published an interview with the athlete’s friend, Justin Divaris.
Divaris told the newspaper Pistorius had also called him in a panic – even before he had called police.
The newspaper said Divaris saw a hysterical Pistorius being detained by cops at the house. “He was totally incoherent and just kept saying, ‘My baba, I’ve killed my baba. God take me away’,” he was quoted as saying.
A pastor who visited Pistorius at the police station on Sunday said he was still distraught.
"I'm gonna miss you all so much! And I love you very, very much," Reeva Steenkamp, slain girlfriend of Paralympian Oscar Pistorius, said in a show that aired after she was found shot to death. NBC's Michelle Kosinski reports.
"The Holy Spirit gave me an order that this is now the chance to go pray with Oscar," pastor AJ Wilson told Reuters outside the police station.
"The (police) colonel told him that I have come to pray with him. He just cried and we all cried together."
Pistorius’ uncle, Arnold, on Saturday said the Paralympian was “numb with shock, as well as grief”.
There was anger in South African at the decision by broadcaster SABC to air the reality show, Reuters reported – particularly as Steenkamp will not be buried until Tuesday.
"It was very insensitive to put it on air before she was even buried," said 30-year-old insurance consultant Montle Ndlovu, according to Reuters. "It's such a sad story. She was young and pretty and had her whole life in front of her."

I agree with bearrubman.............this killer has been made to be a hero and I like the showing of her saying goodbye so that no one will forget what he has done to this beautiful lady. It has to break the hearts of her family, but they are broken anyway and we should be very aware of what he has done.

Sometimes we kiss them on the cheek or neck. That's just what we do. Those girls were close friends. Thank God for our friends, male and female! Reeva is beautiful inside and out. I could tell she was/is a good & wonderful & sweet person who didn't deserve to die. Her husband was probably so insecure (because of his handicap) and jealous of her and all the attention she received.

Couple word four shots through a bathroom door. Now if there was not an outside window he is toast. As far as being asleep and waking and shooting when I was youg I wlked into my bedroom lit up somhow took off my sportd coat and hung it on the edge of the door and passed out heard a nise and in the dark saw a form and shot my coat. Cops know a lot about scenes and they are convinced he did it but that does not make it a open and shut case and btw he is a national hero...of sorts.

Yes, because you know, because he is wealthy, he is going to spend at least 2 to 5 years in jail for this murder before he is able to race again. It's so sad and unfortunate, just think of the loss of revenue he will incur due to this tragic event! Did they quote all of his heroic stats and accomplishments at the end of this update? I didn't really read the entire article, but I know when a sports star murders someone the news media finds it important to quote all of that sports star's sports achievements.

Yes I can see its in bad taste to show the tv show,, However,, the media is making this guy out to be a Hero all his life that it is over shadowing this young lady,,.. I feel this show will bring the light of her life back in and how she too was a rising star!
I'm actually of two minds about this show airing. Yes, in a way, the TV station seems to be profiteering off of it. But also, this show was a part of who she was and doing what she loved. Imagine an author dying before his last book was published and it being decided that because he died, that book wouldn't be published. Or an actor who died and the movie that just finished not being shown. She did this TV show with the expectations that it would be shown, because she wanted it to be shown. It is very ironic and sad that in this show, she is giving her goodbyes and love.

If she were only shot one time, I could believe an accident - but four times? Seriously, who is going to believe he wakes up at 2 a.m., hears someone in the bathroom and thinks it is an intruder or something? Obviously, the first question is, didn't you notice your girlfriend wasn't there next to you in the bed? Then there is this, he's not going to be all frantic and do this all in a hurry before he can think. He has to get the gun, put his feet on, or crawl to the bathroom door. And seriously, who is going to begin shooting through the door without asking who is there. And I don't think a burglar is going to stop to take a whizz in the master bedroom bathroom with the owners right there in bed sleeping. I cannot see him coming up with any reason or excuse that gets him off of this. Two people have come forward stating that they called them first before calling the police asking for help. He did it and it is time for him to admit it!
Oscar and Reeva did not live together.
We don't know for sure yet, who would have been the one in the bathroom.
Maybe Oscar was hiding in the bathroom from an intruder and shot out.

Do you know how fast it is to shoot 4 shots with a 9mm automatic? Less than a second. Faster than a person has to realize they were hit with the first bullet, let alone slump down and fall to the ground dead.
I heard someone say that police were called earlier that evening to their home because they were having a fight. I need to read that myself first so I don't know if that is true or not.
But if she were in that bathroom and they were arguing through the door, it would be easy to tell just by sound where she was standing. She wouldn't have even known he had the gun if he got it after she went in there.

You've never used a gun, have you? Automatic doesn't mean Fully Automatic like a machine gun. You have to pull the trigger each time with an automatic to shoot a bullet. So even with a hair-trigger, he would have had to consciously shoot the other 3 bullets into her.

Let me help you out with gun terminology, the gun he was using was a semi-automatic 9mm which means you have to pull the trigger each time a bullet is released. Fully-Automatic and automatic have the same meaning but you were correct in the sense that he had to make a effective effort to pull the trigger four times which with his background with guns he knew exactly what he was doing. He intended to kill whoever was on the other side of the bathroom door, whether he knew it was her or not, I have no clue and I'm not going to speculate. All I know is that I live with 3 other people and if I heard noises and thought someone had broken in, I would have to identify the person before I even came close to pulling the trigger.
Y'gotta wait till ALL the facts are in but some seem indisputable. Someone had to pick up a gun, aim it and fire it. There were only two people. One dead. The other not. Pretty obvious who picked up the gun and aimed it. Take responsibility for your actions Oscar.

anecdotalbox, he used not one weapon, but two that we know of, not taking into account his fists. He fractured her skull with a cricket bat and shot her 4 times in two different locations. She was wearing a negligee, which blows the intruder theory out of the water. He bashed her with the bat (which was covered with blood) and shot her once in the bedroom, and then 3 times through the bathroom door. That's pretty good case for deliberate murder.

Pistorius is NOT Lance Armstrong. He never deceived anyone for any number of years. It's crazy how quick people are to throw stones. This is NOT OJ Simpson either. No where near it. Pisorius killed her because he thought she was an intruder. His sorrow is obvious. He isn't running (no pun intended) from anything. This was a tragic accident and I hope that is taken into consideration.

Reeva was dressed for bed. There was an obvious bloody struggle in the bedroom, which then moved to the bathroom where she made a final defensive stand. He called his agent before he called the police. Neighbors heard the fight. She was shot in the bedroom and through the bathroom door. Her skull was fractured by a cricket bat before he shot her. That's not sorrow you're seeing, it's regret, and this wasn't an accident, it was murder.

A/noon Dancing Spiderman.. A cricket bat is used in playing the came of cricket....I guess it would look like a flattened baseball bat would be a good comparison. The South Africans, Brits and us Aussies play the game as do many other countries...He used the bat to fracture her skull hence the blood on it. This is no accident and it is also coming out here in Australia there is another guy involved...So I think Oscar should get an academy award for his performance so far......

I have to lean toward not accidental by what I have heard and read so far.
First of all, why would she surprise him and walk to the bathroom
without identifying herself? She must not have been in the bathroom
or it must not have been a surprise. I wouldn't pay any attention to
the neighbors, or the media that assumes when the police report that
shots were fired through a bathroom door, that she was in the bathroom.
The police have not said she was in the bathroom, only reporters.
If there were drugs involved wouldn't that be an accident?
If a couple is happily married and the husband gets loaded and

I'm not saying he's innocent. I'm saying accident.
He probably deserves a long time in jail. But, this was
not pre-meditated murder. Even if it qualifies in legal
terms, it's not pre-meditative in common terms.
Drugs and alcohol should not be allowed to be used as an excuse for the death of another person. People need to take responsibility for all of their actions under the use of such substances. Before using them, they are sober and they consciously make the decision to blur their minds and actions with them. Just like someone killed by a drunk driver. That driver knew what could happen when they began drinking and ignored it - it shouldn't be an excuse afterwards.
The police were at his home two hours before her death to break up a fight they were having. He had two hours to cool down. He had two hours to think and consider his plans and take action on them, and he did. At the end of those two hours, he got his gun and shot his girlfriend 4 times and killed her.
I don't understand why she did not take the opportunity to get out while the Police was responding the call, unless she was already bashed on the head. It was her chance to live. She missed it. Premeditation is certainly right there in our faces. Anybody that fails to see it is ....well.....not really with it or they side with a killer. Maybe they have anger issues of their own.

If it was an automatic weapon that shoots 4 shots fast, then it makes sense that
he would accidentally shoot it four times in like one second. He probably was

Because he was mad at the time, this could be manslaughter.
I'm sure if someone asked him on February 13, would you ever kill Reeva, he
would have been horrified and offended at the question. And if someone were to
ask him today last Friday the same question, he would have the same reaction.

Also, I have an issue with the use of the word "automatic" when associated with the word "gun" or "weapon". Q1: Just what is "automatic" about an automatic gun, if mammo is not being shot out of the thing as the trigger is engaged? In this case, the use of the word "automatic" makes no sense. Q2: What gun function qualifies the use of the word "automatic"? Perhaps the gun industry should adopt a more appropriately-descriptive word in place of the ill-suited "automatic".

Maybe I can help some of you, key word is "some".
An "automatic" weapon will empty the entire amount of rounds [ bullets, for the unknowing] available in the clip, while holding the trigger under steady pressure. Commonly known as a " machine gun". Machine guns in the US are illegal to be possessed by the common citizen. Not a new law - an old law.
A , "semi-automatic" weapon will only fire a round as fast as you can "repeatedly" pull the trigger for each round AND ONLY as much as the mechanics and physics of the components allow.
A semi-auto can NOT fire 4 rounds in 1 second. Try pulling your finger 4 times in 1 second, with the recoil of the gun making your arm jerk upwards, after each shot, AND then getting back "on target". All within 4 seconds.
My advice to you, and anyone, is "learn something about a topic before you speak".

And no its not a "machine gun." Its actually a semi-automatic, both technically and legally. Guns like that are everywhere, like the SSAR-15 and SSAK-47.
Anyways, I was shooting 3 rounds a sec with a semi-auto glock my first day on the range. But I had a lot of practice, u know call of duty and before that duck hunter on the Nintendo, so I don't expect everyone to be that good.

If he didn't want her to die, why did he use two weapons on her? The only reason I can think of is that the first one (the cricket bat) wasn't working fast enough. So he pulled out a gun. That's not an "accident" by any stretch of the imagination.

I think she would have been in strong approval for running the show. It is now her legacy as we can all see her having a good time. The show also makes money for a lot of people. I would expect the family of the shooter is uncomfortable with it since it reminds the world the loss and gruesomeness of her murder . It is giving "pistachio" bad publicity and they would prefer avoiding it. I heard they were "recruiting" her own father for sympathy. That is a low blow for a father to side with the murderer of his child, then again, maybe he abused his wife as well. That would make sense as to why she was involved with domestic violence prevention and attracted to such men as well. It follows a pattern.
