Carl Pistorius, who is facing culpable homicide charge in a 2010 road death, and sister Aimee Pistorius attend the appearance of their brother South African Olympic sprinter Oscar Pistorius on Tuesday.

JOHANNESBURG -The family lawyer of Oscar Pistorius says the brother of the Olympic paraplegic athlete is facing culpable homicide charge in a 2010 road death.

Laywer Kenny Oldwage would not confirm details of the case Carl Pistorius is facing, but Sunday's development is compounding the problems for the family after Oscar was charged with premeditated murder in the Feb. 14 shooting death of girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

Local media reported that Carl Pistorius was allegedly involved in a crash with a woman motorcyclist and that he was to face trial last Thursday, as his brother Oscar was facing a bail hearing.

Oscar Pistorius was released on bail Friday and his brother Carl was seen driving into the affluent villa of their uncle Arnold early Sunday, where Oscar is staying while on bail.

He is NOT a paraplegic. Do they even edit articles in CNN anymore?

Paralympic athlete, you mean? Not paraplegic. Amazed how bad online media is anymore. Nobody proofreads anything. The dumbing down of America is in full swing.

This peg leg's brother should NOT be news.

It would be news if Oscar, Carl, the Detective all have the same attorney and they've all been friends and go on holiday together and when Carl arrived at the scene, he called the detective personally instead of an ambulance and other police. Not that that is the case. Just saying. I agree, it doesn't seem at all relevant at this point, does it.

I realize 'investigative reporting' pretty much went out the window in this country, but, you'd think BBC could smell a story. I think they have.

How long does it take the South African government to bring a case to trial? Are they so overburdened or just inept?

If they only have one judge and do not have to take the time to select a jury, then, there must be a long line ? Judge Roy Bean was both, but, you didn't have to wait more than two years.

National Public Radio did a program discussing the justice system in South Africa and it seems to be deplorable.

Years behind in adjudicating cases, etc. Crime rates are extremely high and crimes against women appalling.

From the U.S. they appear to be so civilized but evidently it is not.

Alleged murderers come from the ghettos and the gated neighborhoods. It once again all goes back to parenting skills.I am betting that mommy and daddy have made excuses and gotten these two out of scrapes in life since they were knee high. They learned that bad behavior is ok until it escalated into murder for one son and a manslaughter charge for the other son. This is tragic for their parents but you reap what you sow.

Why are South African prosecutors just getting around to this now? Same question goes for Botha's 2011 alleged homicide he was charged with the day after testifying.

Ahhhh the great circle of life. Irresponsible birth rate growth overcrowding wars famine disease and misery. Got to love the wonderful sentiment I will have as many babies as I want regardless of the consequences to the environment or the rest of the planet. Got to love the African Asian Southern and Central American mindsets when it comes to overpopulating the carrying capacity of their enviroments. Even the Chinese try to have more than one child. The time tested solution continues to be to go over to some other group and say leave or I will kill you or give me what I need or I will kill you.

Why, exactly, should NBC readers / viewers really give a rat's behind about what is happening with murders in South Africa? As I recall, murders are a pretty common occurrence in those parts. Does anyone in the US really care whether a SA Olympic medal winner did something really stupid? Much less his brother?

Many of us care about justice for Reeva and don't like what we are seeing so far. This guy's story is outrageous and if he walks it will truly be a monumental and historic travesty of justice.

My, lovely family. Sounds like a judge will hear both cases so it won't be a jury dealing with the hero label on Oscar and letting him off . . . Aimee may be spending a lot of her time visiting prisons in the near future. I really don't buy Oscar's tears. Is Carl using tears, too, hoping to get some sympathy.
