Thousands of Palestinians - among them masked gunmen - took to the streets of the West Bank for the funeral of a prisoner who died in an Israeli jail. His family says he was tortured while Israel claims it was a heart attack in what threatens to becomes a new uprising. ITV's John Ray reports.
News analysis
TEL AVIV, Israel - For Israel, the good news on the West Bank was that in 2012 for the first time in 39 years terrorism claimed not one Israeli victim.
But in a region where events can overtake expectations with neck-snapping speed, that is not a sign of peace to come. The question occupying Israelis and Palestinians is: Has the third intifada begun?
For weeks Palestinians have been confronting Israeli troops in numerous areas of the West Bank, sometimes as a result of local grievances, sometimes sparked by attacks by Jewish settlers, and most recently, by the death in detention of a Palestinian, who Palestinian officials claim was tortured to death.
Arafat Shalish Jaradat, a 30-year-old Palestinian who was arrested for allegedly throwing stones at Israeli soldiers, was arrested Feb. 18 and died in prison for no clear reason five days later. He is a Palestinian hero, a rallying call for angry young men and women.
Tensions flared in the West Bank after the death of a Palestinian detainee who died in an Israeli prison. NBCNews.com's Dara Brown reports.
Israeli analysts, however, believe that the protests are being carefully managed by Palestinian military officials, whose aim is to turn up the heat on the West Bank before President Barack Obama’s March 20 visit to Jerusalem and Ramallah. The theory is that the Palestinians want to make sure that their struggle with Israel tops the agenda, and not Iran or Syria.
If true, it’s a dangerous ploy. Amos Gilad, the Director of the Political-Security Staff in the Defense Ministry, told Army Radio, “It looks as if the Palestinian Authority is trying to walk a delicate tightrope: both raising unrest and displays of violence and not wanting the matter to spin out of control. The problem is that in this game, you never know when things are spinning out of control.”

Tension in the West Bank has been rising for about the last six months, partly because the United States and Israel have withheld promised funds, causing the Palestinian Authority to say there is no money to pay the salaries of Palestinian police and civil servants. Unemployment has also soared at the same time. The resulting anger and frustration fuel protests against Israel.
The first intifada, or popular uprising against Israel, was sparked by anger at a traffic accident in Gaza in which an Israeli truck driver killed four Palestinians in Dec. 1987. According to many, the second intifada was provoked by Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's visit to the holiest place in Judaisim and the third holiest place in Islam -- known as the Temple Mount or al-Aksa Mosque, respectively. It led to riots and arrests.
Each initial incident, relatively small in itself, tapped into a cauldron of spontaneous rage, deep-seated anger and frustration and, ultimately, support from the Palestinian leadership, albeit covert, and led to years of violence, arrests and deaths.
So what’s up now? Among Palestinians there is again deep anger at the plight of their roughly five thousand prisoner in Israeli jails, which threatens the rule of Fatah in the West Bank. In Gaza, Hamas managed to free more than a thousand of their prisoners from Israeli jails in return for the release of their one Israeli captive, Sgt. Gilad Shalit, who they held for five years. Now Hamas appeals to voters in the West Bank: Give us control of the West Bank and we’ll soon free your prisoners.
The Palestinian Authority government led by President Abu Mazen has to look as if it is doing something, so it is supporting the prisoner protests, even while warning the protesters that it will not tolerate serious violence against Israel -- an explosive contradiction.
One thing that Palestinian and Israeli analysts do agree on: Obama wants to encourage the peace process, but the danger is that the West Bank will explode before he even gets here.

we cant afford to pay our oun police and government worker's.... unemployment is ready to go on the rise, again, and you thinkwe have money to hand over to 3rd world countries like its free water?
That is disturbing just knowing that the Palestinians are mad because Israel won't give them funds......
Why in the heck would ANYBODY fund these unappreciative walks of life to begin with, it's sorta like the people on the system in the USA. UNAPPRECIATIVE I tell ya
"The question occupying Israelis and Palestinians is: Has the third intifada begun?"
These Palestinian freeloaders, living on our and Israeli tax monies, have been doing only doing intifadas.
They don't know much on how to live by working hard!
Why don't they take monies from oil rich Sunni rulers who have become richer and richer by manipulating oil prices higher and higher by inventing Iraqi wars, sanctions on Iranian oil and so on?
Are the monies of liabilities and curses on earth, oil rich Sunni rulers only for funding their hate preaching and killer training Salaffi and Wahhabi mosques and their Islamic killer gangs like Hamas, al Qaida, MB, Taliban, Boko Haram and other label ones?
After 10,000 Yrs. of fighting, Obama the Messiah will bring peace. A piece of Israel for Palestinian, a piece for Iran, & a piece for Egypt! Just look how much better off we are here..
"He is a Palestinian hero, a rallying call for angry young men and women."
I'm sorry, but in no way is an immature, hostile, aggressive young man who chooses violence against making a better life for himself, a hero. He is a criminal. Your world is completely backwards if you think his behavior should be celebrated and honored.
What are you talking about. I read your post a couple of times and still can't get it. Is Obama the hero?
So if the police here in good old America held your son in jail with no hearing, no trial, no nothing, YOU WOULD BE FINE WITH THAT? really? isn't that what the right wing rants that Obama will do? So you want no justice for one group, and justice for the other?
Now imagine these men being held with no charge, beaten and killed had been WHITE. What would you say then? This is going on for 60 years. Isreal dose not want peace, so with the president coming to the area, isreal fans the flames once again. and the palestinians fall for it.
Uh huh. Yeah. And wasn't it Kerry, a DEMOCRAT, who flapped off at the gums saying that foreign aid is an "investment in the U.S.A" and "not a charity" the other day??? Or were you conveniently sleeping under your rock when he said this?
That being said, the government (yes, INCLUDING Obammy et. al) CAN stop propping up foreign turds, you're right. They can start with Hamas, Hezbollah, the Muslim Brotherhood, Fatah, al Nursa, the corrupt Karzai, and the Pakistani thugs.
And THAT'S the short list, just skimming the surface.
Hmmm, maybe because Israel took their land, destroyed their homes and businesses, took their natural resources and basically denied them any means of living, and kills them at random. We pretty much did the same thing to the American Indian and we gave them money in exchange.
Terrorist is becoming an over used word. When your people die it is from terrorism but when you kill someone else it is in defense of something.
Some of you do not appear to know that the funds being withheld are mostly taxes on palistinians and goods that goods that enter gaza and the west bank. Israel does not allow the palistinians collect these funds themselves, Israel collects them on the palistiinian authortiy's behalf. It is an inflamitory move designed to undercut the palistinian authority and cause unrest. Shameful. If someone had removed and held hundreds of millions of your local tax dollars, cutting off the funds to pay for basic services, you would be upset.
Hummmmmmm......... "Arafat Shalish Jaradat, a 30-year-old Palestinian who was arrested for allegedly throwing stones at Israeli soldiers, was arrested Feb. 18 and died in prison for no clear reason five days later..."
Was he "tortured & killed" as is claimed?
It would be extremely rare for a thirty year old healthy young man to die of a "heart attack" .... especially while in responsible confinement.
Do responsible nations "Torture" anyone .. much less "rock throwers?"
It's gotta be Bush's fault! Oh wait, he hasn't been president for five years now...
There's no justification whatsoever for Israel torturing the terrorist prisoners, Bush style... They should just kill them Obama style.
Nice try Ed, why dont you tell the REST of the story......that money was withheld for paying for water and utilities that ISRAEL has been supplying for FREE for years! Palestinians dont want to pay their bills!
Now would YOU be upset if you have to pay your bills AND theirs?
http://www.nytimes.com/2013/01/31/world/middleeast/israel-to-transfer-tax-funds-to-palestinians.html?_r=0
The Palestinian Authority, a self-rule body with limited control over parts of the West Bank, has been in a financial crisis for about two years, largely because of a drop in support from donor nations. It has been struggling to pay its 150,000 government workers their full salaries on time, leading to growing restiveness and strikes.
Let their HOME countries support them!!!
Wow, so many uneducated anti-semites here today. Go read a history book before flapping yoiur lips

A US President has no business telling Israel to give into their demands to release terrorists from prison or give up their land! Although we already know Obama threw Israel under the bus when he said he believes they should go back to the pre 1967 borders
http://www.nypost.com/p/news/national/obama_tells_israel_go_back_to_borders_iExdm1xIHJQmIcTy3RqyJO
Hmm maybe because they were left abandon for their own people , who start a war against Israel to wipe them of the map, and Palestinians pay for the consequences. Why their own Muslim brother abandon the Palestinians in refugee camps. In every war there are winner and losers. Mexico also lost some of their territory after the war, but they never send terrorist or rockets to kill Americans, Obama made a huge mistake talking about to return the 1967 borders. Don't blame the Jews, blame the Arabs they are responsible for this situation..
Jews murdered a lot more Arabs than the other way round. Stop thieving other people's land, stop murdering people you don't like, and the Palestinians will settle down too.
To all the jew-haters who believe that foreign aid, particularly to Israel, is the source of our financial woes, sorry to inform you that the culprits are entitlements. Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid

Max 108, you are a bigot, and a Jew hater, you don't know your history or your own bible. The world via the U.N. gave Israel it's own land back to the Jews after WW11, land that was a desert and the Jews made it prosper, check your history, there were not such thing as Palestinians, they are the throw off of other arab countries, even the Lebanese killed over a 100,000 of them when they tried to move into Lebanon.

Hey Yewrah - Israel has stolen plenty of land UN has never gave them, and they keep on stealing more and more with each passing year - this is why Israel does not want, or need, peace. As long as there is unrest and no 'final Palestinian solution' - they will keep on stealing land and murdering those who stand in their way.
And the biggest I objection I have is that my taxpayer money goes to support this racket.
As to 'my Bible' LOL! Bible is just another Jewish fairy tale.
So Kim Jong, what makes you the resident genius. It is a fact the Israelis are collecting the taxes for the Palestinians, and it is a fact this tax money belongs to the Palestinians. When a Jew looks you in the eye and says 'trust me', you better start greasing your hole.
END APARTHEID IN PALESTINE!! There will never be peace will the Palestinian people are forced from their homes, their land, and without compensation. Not being able to walk down bordering streets and in fear of retribution all the time. The Jewish people have invaded that land, but they keep taking more and more expanding their territory without just compensation...peace seems impossible in that whole region since the Zionists forced themselves there. May GOD have mercy on them.
Max108 (#1.24) and Jedi (1.26): And no doubt their quest for more land is why they returned the Sinai to Egypt and Gaza to the so-called Palestinians? Sorry to inform you that this time the Jews are fighting back. And no need to worry, Ol_Arkie (#1.25), you won't need to grease you own hole.
Yes, Basil... Israel is SOOOOO generous...
And as to the 'there is no such thing as Palestinians' zionist propaganda item - whatever you call the non Jews who have lived on the land now occupied by Israel, they are the only rightful owners of that land. Calling them Jordanians does not give you the right to steal their land.
Palestine and the Palestinians
The Bible does not use the term “Palestine” or “Palestinians” to designate any geographic location or people. Nor does the historian Josephus ever use these terms in his major works, Antiquities of the Jews and Wars of the Jews. These relatively recent terms cannot change history—much less Scripture.
In the New Testament, other terms denote the territories of that region. For example, in Luke 1:5, Herod (the Great) is King of Judea. In Luke 3:1, we find other references: Pontius Pilate, governor of Judea; Herod (Antipas), Tetrarch of Galilee; Philip, Tetrarch of Ituraea (northeast of Judea); and Lysancas, Tetrarch of Abilene (near Ituraea). Notice that there is no “king,” “governor” or “tetrarch” of Palestine found anywhere in Scripture—more proof that “Palestine” was not an ancient term.
Palestinians today insist that they inhabited the land of Canaan before God gave it to Israel. But they are either seriously misinformed or willfully ignorant. The Canaanites described above were definitely not of Arab descent. The Arabic peoples are descendants of Ishmael, who descended from Shem. The peoples of Tunisia, Malta, Algeria and Sicily of today are of similar descent as these Canaanites.
By the tenth century A.D., the Turks had conquered the former land of Judea, as well as Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon. By the eleventh century, they controlled the bulk of Asia Minor. The Arabians—descendants of Ishmael as well as Esau—claimed the land from that time until the present.
Only after the Jews established their nation in 1948 did the masses of these Arabic peoples feel drawn to this particular territory. The population of Palestinians swelled dramatically after the Jews brought about vast improvements in agricultural production. They established irrigation and re-introduced efficient means of agriculture.
Understandably, many took advantage of gainful employment provided by the Jews in developing the land and building a needed infrastructure for the tiny nation of Israel. These local laborers were calledfellahin, or agricultural workers.
Ownership of the territory is another controversial issue. The Palestinians claim to be the ancient owners of Palestine. Yet we see that they only took possession of the land in the wake of the Turkish campaign through that region in about the tenth century A.D. The claim made by ancient Israel precedes this claim by about 2,300 years.
How ironic that these Palestinians accuse the Jews of depriving them of their home when (1) the vast majority of them moved to Israel after the Jews reclaimed the land from desolation and ruin, and (2) their Arab relatives in the world of Islam own over 1,000 times more real estate than exists within the boundaries of tiny Israel. Remember when thousands of Palestinians were expelled from Kuwait in 1991 after they were found conspiring with the Iraqis in selling out their host country?

Why does NBC never print articles about unrest in Israel? Just more biased coverage from a biased wannabe news network.
Any comments here that deny that there is guilt and blame on both sides for the present situation in Israel and the occupied territories is a bigoted and imflamitory.
Fed,
Israel destroyed the palistinian's powerplants and water treatment plants, making them dependent on Israel for these basic needs. It is Israel's duty to supply them as a signatory to the UN Charter. Very creative interpretation of history BTW, try using empiricle facts next time.
Ed, the Palestinians didn't have any of thoe things, but thanks for playing.
Max, does it change the fact that Jews owned it first? Feel free to pick up a history book, no need to go back to biblical times, but if you want to, you can see Jews owned the land back then too. More recently, Jews bought most of the land during the reign of the Ottoman Empire. The land was then stolen from them by state-backed Arabs, who murdered them at all. Feel free to look it up and read all about the pogroms.
Ol-Arkie, stop taking what you read from posters here as the gospel truth. I keep telling people GO LOOK IT UP from a reliable a source, Max^108's neo-Nazi blog doesn't count.
marywhatever
What are you talking about. I read your post a couple of times and still can't get it. Is Obama the hero?
Try re reading the article. His post isnt that hard to understand if you would read the article.
Kim the banned reregister,
Make up any lies you want, the truth will persevere.
p.s. Who at the IDF authorized the use of your present moniker?
The Palestinians are just pawns of the Arab/Islamic/Terrorist network. In 1948 it was 5 nations that used them, moved them out of Israel after Israel was declared a Jewish state, and then those nations kept them interred in refugee camps as symbols. Then Arafat used them to gain millions of dollars in aid, and he moved it into his own name. Now, the Iranian/Hamas/Hezbollah connection use them as symbols and human shields. If Israel and the Palestinians are to have peace, the Palestinians have to stop their relationships with terrorist extremists. Otherwise there ill be a 3rd Intifada with suicide bombers, rockets and weapons smuggled into Gaza from Muslim Brotherhood lead Egypt.
FtBrgtrnd,
What do you usually call a narrow view, one sided comment?
Ed
Yours
Kim, the issue of land ownership is rather simple under both international and national laws. And the simple truth is that Israel has been taking land that does not belong to them ever since that country was created in 1948. Spare me the tribal gods story, to me it has no relevance here. Israel is constructing illegal settlements as we speak, and they are all located on land taken from non-Jewish people, and that is a huge source of conflict. And the only reason I object is because my tax money goes to protect you thieves... the Iron Dome is a perfect example of US protecting you land thieves. Do your dirty deeds on your own dime. Quit mooching of my country. And quit whining that Palestinians protest when you continue to steal their land and murder their people.
And look at the zionist shills collapsing every post they don't like... LOL!
Freedom of expression indeed... as long as it promotes their zio-nazi agenda.
Max
You simply forgot that Israel gave back Gaza and Sinai.
And interestingly, they gave Gaza to a people who by some strange coincidence doesn't even recognize Israel.
@Ft - Dude, that was just a practical thing to do for Israel. What is on Sinai? Nothing, absolutely nothing but hot rocks and trouble from the locals. It would take a huge army to hold it. And Gaza? LOL! Who wants to run that ghetto?
Yes, that was very generous of Israel. About as generous as renouncing your pi$$ water.
@#1.43
Well said Max.
Today the welfare people and the Palestinians, expect their entitlement money, in Europe the socialist are in the same position with paying for all their illegal immigrants along with the citizenry that has earned entitlements, the world of corporations is under employed and overworked, the elected government is over manned and under worked and over paid, they also do not contribute to the economy instead they are a drain on it, the few that work for privatized corporate or un elected Government has to support the over stuffed elected Governments that demand more and spend it foolishly, while they seek ways to get more from the real supporters that is the Privatized sector, the governments are not the supporters the corporations are , the more the governments take from the supporters the less they can support, but the people on the easy or free ride offered by the government will never see that they really do not contribute they only take away. simple if your work does not feed the economy then it is costing the economy, we have 40% of the population feeding the economy and 60% draining the economy you don't even need a calculator to understand that this won't work forever then to realize that the 60% group is in fact better paid then the 40% group on average and with better retirement and benefit packages its not hard to understand that its all going to blow before long and a collapse is around the corner , we have a liberal government that refuses to work with the conservative element and prepare a budget something I've never witnessed before, I don't know why anyone who works would support our present government and the give away program that is being used simply to buy the votes of the 60%, in the same fashion that is tearing up other countries for example Venezuela, do you understand these people and their families will always do well and when the nation is broke they will still have access to the national cookie jar. do you realize that you are trading your well being and trading your children's future when you vote based on a social issue, not something that will strengthen the nation, do you know that if you are not part of the solution then you are part of the problem, do you know you are better off with hard earned cash in your pocket then you are with enlightenment in your head, have you noticed that our present government is attacking the ones that say do not drink the Kool Aid, get a grip on the problem, we cant go on like this and all the while the POTUS says give me more, Beep Beep Beep Beep stop hitting the snooze button and wake up or we will be just like Palestine all f'd up and in total Kayos, your call people can't ride this one out its time to start voicing on the real issues and not get caught up in the superfluous issues that are used to divert from whats really happening and get our country functioning again, remember forward is what ever direction you are facing if you are facing a cliff then forward might not be a good direction to go, it only takes one wrong step. would you prefer to be enlightened with someones promise of enlightenment or financially secure? is it worth the nothing that you will receive to sell out the future of America. the more the libs get their way the worse things get overall do you think maybe they are selling you a lemon in place of the golden egg. you cant eat Enlightenment, forward is only a direction, the truth is things are really f'd up and its the ones pointing their fingers at the Republicans that will never do you justice, where is the budget we haven't seen one for going on 5 years now don't you think its time we had one? people we are becoming as screwed up as the ME. all these people want is the money and if you don't give it to them then they will burn down the house you gave them and expect you to buy them a new one. after all you owe it to them don't you!
Max
So you know more than Egypt, Sadat wanted Sinai desperately. But you seem to know more. Max I am glad you and your knowledge base are on the side that I am not.
And I was in Gaza before it was turned over to the Palestinians. It was a fantastic piece of property, Gaza City had it's problems. The Palestinians turned it into a Ghetto. By the way, the Palestinians in Gaza were good people, Hamas screwed them over.
@Rockyroad-531554, with respect to post #1.20, Obama should definitely have armed guards while he organizes the Palestinian Community ('bout time he uses his community organizer skills to good use). But, of course, the armed guards can only carry shot guns and fire recklessly fire their rounds off of balconies, Joe Biden style!
@Ft - there are good people in Gaza, there are good people in Israel. It is those m-f politicians and religious fanatics that always make life miserable for others. People need to learn how to compromise, how to give, how to be good neighbors. That is the only road to peace.
Like I said, Max, go look up the history of the area. Murdering people in cold blood and stealing the land doesn't make it yours. It didn't when the Arabs did it during the Ottoman Empire, , it didn't when the Arabs as a massive combined force failed at doing it 50or so years ago. And it doesn't make it ok now. Israel isn't murdering anyone in cold blood. All the rockets flying into Israel aren't coming from Israel. And they sure aren't full of candy either.
Israel is doing what is necessary to defend the innocent civilians within her borders, whether they be Muslim, Jewish, or Christian. How many rockets would have to come across the border from Mexico before the US retaliated or declared a buffer zone?
Not a good day for the Islamic terrorist supporters on NBC.They`re getting banned left and right...nazis also.Their 5 cliches about Jews,Israel are so stale they`re getting banned not only for their anti Jewish sentiment but out of boredom. Iran,Ham and Hez are behind the unrest in the West Bank. The Arab who died was 30 years old and not a "kid".Iran and their combat troops won`t be satisfied until they bring down the house on all Iranians Gazans and West Bank people.A 3rd intifida will be a 3rd suicide for the Arabs, and justly so.Israel won`t roll over and play dead.No country would!
Kim: "Like I said, Max, go look up the history of the area. Murdering people in cold blood and stealing the land doesn't make it yours."
LOL! That is how the Jews got it in the first place, according to their own legends recorded in the Bible. And this is how they got it again in 1940's - by sheer brutal TERRORISM.
WTF are you smoking?
It bewilders me how any American can support giving our taxpayer dollars to parasites in Israel. The Jews in Israel should try supporting themselves for a change. America is tapped out, thanks to fighting 2 wars for Israel.
Stop all aid to those war mongering thieves and criminals.
America never fought even one war for Israel, only for America.
However, I am still would like to know why those so concerned with finances are at peace with taxpayers dollars going to Egypt, Pakistan and other Muslim states.
movie to watch

get off your high horse and become human again
this means giving up your greed and truley acting like god
you know its on both sides of the fence "god told me to kill" lol that is the weakest excuse for greed
hey israel did you forget about the 10 commandments
crap you wouldnt have one worry if you would treat humans like a human and i dont want to here about the palistinians are war mongers
you made them that way
a human is a human treat them like that
moan and groan bitch and complain but remember if we dont treat others with love we all are doomed

be greedy and steal land and kill others means you walk side by side with the devil
funny how no one is scared of god till you are on your death bed then its to late
There are many human characteristics that are contributing to human and world problems.
1. Greediness. Where are Jews compared to the oil rich Sunni rulers, their sheikhs and clerics? Sunni Islamists, Inc. have been recently manipulating high oil prices and blackmailing by all sorts of means.
2. Willingness to work hard. How many followers of Islamic cult are willing to make living by working hard? A high percentage love stealing, weeping/terrorizing and going around with collection boxes (Palestinians), looting and clean sweep by genocides and looting. Look at the history of followers of Islamic cult. Here Jews fare certainly better. Jews have been victims too.
3. Putting people in religious hell holes and make/force them to do so many things in the name of religion. Where do Jews come here? Hope you know about endless jihads of followers of Islamic cult.
Why don't likes of you compare Muslims and non-Muslim nations?
In Syria, Pakistan, Mali and other places, we are noticing what Hamas are doing in israel.
You will not be making such posts, if you had studied well the history of Islam.
Well said Jonathan....Why do our people in the U.S.A. don't realize that NO ONE IN THE WORLD supports Israel and their actions except us....must be the campaign money given to the Republicons.
Jonathan, here is you math lesson of the day, the PLO began in the late 60s. the terrorists that murdered palestinians and English started in 1945. The first recorded terror bombing was the king David hotel which was blown up by the IRGUN. it's leader became prime minister of Israel. the first IED recorded in an act of terror was made and used by the Stern gang in 1949. Gee, I wonder where Arabs learned these tactics. Ever hear of the Molataf cocktail? Ever wonder who they threw these fire bombs at? learn some history. look beyond the propaganda. please.
Look up the "deir Yasin" massacre. Long before arabs even knew what a terror group was.
Keith, you are so off base it's almost laughable. Except for the Nazi comments you made just shows how much of an uninformed bigot you really are. It's a shame that there are still people like you who make comments on a story without knowing the truth.
Keith spews hatred for Israel then being the HYPOCRITE he is says we all need to "love one another". Psuedo, Fake, Phony and HYPOCRITE is what Keith is.
george: You are teaching maths to a computer scientist.
Shall we look at the history from the beginning or for short periods (as it is convenient)?
When were Jews in current Israel driven out of their original places?
Please examine the history of those non-Muslims driven out by the followers of Islamic cult since Mohammed invented that hating and killing Islam.
Hey George, where were the Palestinians in 1945?
Israel is the only country that allows, truly allows the arabs to vote and become part of its government in the middle east, yes you can say so does Egypt but not really so with the brotherhood controlling it and same with Iran.
george pauljohn: What you need is a history lesson.
Corrupt Language Breeds Bad History and Bad
Policy
Bruce Thornton - Advancingafreesociety.org - May 22, 2011
"...the false
history and its false vocabulary are now taken for reality and made the basis
of policy."
As the history of communism and fascism both illustrate, modern political tyranny has relied on fabricated history to legitimize its claims and actions, and such history in turn relies on the debasement of language. Nowhere is this axiom more evident than in the conflict between Israel and the Arabs––so much so that, as Obama’s recent remarks about Israel show, the false history and its false vocabulary are now taken for reality and made the basis of policy.
Start with the use of “borders” to describe what is in fact the armistice line marking the farthest advance of the five Arab armies that invaded Israel in
1948. That line is not an international “border” in the strict sense of a line
dividing one sovereign state from another. The territory in question was never
a state. Once a state is established, then the international border will be
settled by negotiations. As Israeli ambassador Dore Gold points out, U.N.
resolution 242, as well as later agreements such as the 1993 Oslo Accords,
preserves this “flexibility for creating new borders.”
Then there’s “occupation,” used to describe the Israeli presence in the West Bank, itself a misleading term that obscures the historical fact that this region is
Judea and Samaria, the heartland of the ancient Jewish state. Aside from that,
using “occupation” to describe Israel’s control over a disputed territory whose
final status will be determined by negotiation evokes misleading analogies with
historical events like the Nazi occupation of France during World War II, or
the Soviet occupation of the Eastern bloc during the Cold War. But that analogy
is false: Germany and Russia invaded and then occupied sovereign nations
defined by international borders. Israel ended up in the West Bank territories
as the result of a defensive war against aggressors. Israel’s continuing
control is a defensive necessity, just as after World War I the traditional
launching pad for German aggression against France, the Rhineland, was
demilitarized and subject to Allied military control. Indeed, the Allied decision
to evacuate their forces from the Rhineland was one of many mistakes that led
to World War II. Given that central Israel is only 9 miles wide from the
Mediterranean to the West Bank, it is understandable that it is cautious about
losing control over the traditional Arab launching pad for invasion.
“Palestinian homeland” is another particularly loaded and historically false phrase. “Palestine” was the name of a multi-ethnic Roman, Byzantine, Arab, and Ottoman province, not a people. The name itself reflects Rome’s attempt to alter
historical reality with language. After the destruction of Israel as a political entity and the scattering of its people in the 2nd Century A.D., the Romans renamed the territory “Palestine” after the Philistines, a people that once lived in the region but had been absorbed into other groups for centuries. Thus the Romans subjected the Jews to a collective damnatio memoriae, the practice of erasing all public mention or record of an enemy to the Roman state––exactly what the Arabs have been trying to do to Israel for the last 60 years by denying its historical ties to the land.
Likewise, ust as the Romans named the land after a people that no longer existed, so too calling the current Arab inhabitants “Palestinians” perpetuates a similar historical fraud. What constitute a people are a shared language, culture,
customs, traditions, and history distinct enough to set them apart from others.
By these criteria, there is no such thing as “Palestinians.” The average Arab
living in Israel or the West Bank is no more significantly distinct from one
living in Syria, Jordan, or Egypt than a resident from California is significantly distinct from a resident of Arizona or Nevada. Whatever differences that do exist do not trump the more important similarities, and reflect rather the refusal of surrounding Arab nations to integrate their Arab brothers into their own countries, instead constructing a Palestinian identity based on victimhood, humiliation, and failure.
That’s why before 1967, no one talked about “Palestinians” as a distinct people
deserving a homeland, and the Jordanians did not create a Palestinian state
when they controlled the West Bank. That notion of a “Palestinian state” arose
after the Arab defeats in the 1967 Six Day War and the 1973 Yom Kippur War.
Once those debacles made it clear the Arabs could not destroy Israel by force,
the tactic shifted to making the issue one of national self-determination as a
way of chipping away at Israel’s territorial integrity and international
support.
Finally, the claim that the territory inhabited by Israel is the traditional “homeland” of those whom we call Palestinians is false. The majority of Arabs who have lived or are living in Israel and the West Bank are there as the descendants of conquerors, colonizers, and immigrants. Many of them came after Zionists began in the 19th Century to develop a mostly desolate, neglected land and to create economic opportunities. History and archaeology tell us that the territory comprising Israel and the West Bank is the traditional homeland of the Jewish people, not a mythical Palestinian people."
george pauljohn (#2.3): Yes, Deir Yassin was a terrible event. But I'll take you back further, the 1920 Nabi Musa riots. Gee, I wonder where Jews learned these tactics. "Long before arabs even knew what a terror group was," Really george pauljohn? Your history is indeed laughable.
sorry keith but in the real world, being nice to your enemies will get you killed.
besides, Moses did have the largest army ever known, didn't he?
was he walking along side the devil as you say?
of course people are afraid of GOD, after all he/she/it is known to be a "fierce GOD"
The jack ass is using a sling to hurl stones and
not expecting a .308 in return? Maybe watching his skull pop like
a water balloon would deter his friends.
That kid is fightong for his freedom you scum sucking war monger. AND you deserve a triple tap 223 for being such an animal.
Seems "Unrest" always precedes Obama's visits..
Yeah, they wish it was Dubya coming to visit instead, then they'd be rejoicing!
And we wouldn't be able to tell the difference. They act the same way for both.
Given that it is "holy land" to all the Abrahamic religions -- Judaism, Christianity, and Islam -- maybe the United Nations should just take over all of Palestine and Israel and administer it as some kind of gigantic neutral zone. I honestly don't see how there will ever be any other lasting solution.
In the 1947 British plan for partitian of the British mandate, Jews were to be given 53%, palistinians (Arabs) 47%, but Jerusalem was to belong to neither. It was to be a UN administered area where all religions would have access to their holy sites. This was a wise decision. Unfortunately, both sides rejected it. Attacks by jewish terror groups against the British increased greatly after the plan was announced.
Hummmmmmmm ... The "Holy Land?"
The term is almost laughable .... after the warfare & deaths that has perpetrated its history ...
it should be call the "Unholy Land" .... and shunned by God, left a uninhabitable desert as a reminder to the world what constant ungodly violent conflict among earths people can bring upon them ... "A Pox On Them"
Let them destroy themselves ....
I don't care whose land it is, I am just tired of paying. Don't say most of the deficit is entitlements, dumb azz those go to Americans even you two passport Americans. Also, whiny little bitches, everytime someone doesn't agree with you they are called anti-semites. Put your big boy pants on and your on your own.
Perhaps you can't quote the Koran and show us where it mentions Jerusalem? Even once?
.
Ha Ha Ha. Lee, your best post yet! You get my vote here.
Mutual destruction may rid the rest of the world of the curse of the Muslims, Christians and the Jews. I hope it is quick and clean.
This could be a dangerous trip for the presedent, what's to say some no mind radical will not take a pot shot at him..he should ask himself this question..Is this trip really needed or worth it
No need for worry kerrry-2732604 . His entourage of select body guards will protect him after they finish with the prostitutes.
We can only hope his aim is true.
I hope we never donate anything except Fire and destruction to a terrorist group like Hamas
Right....but we should donate our troops to Israel so they can destroy their enemies, which by the way they are endless.......everyone in the whole wide world dislikes Israel and their actions towards the Palestinians
Tony, I hate to break this to you, but the rest of the world is not crazy about America, either...unless, of course, its citizens are busy looking for a way to sneak in here.
not EVERYONE hates Israel, tony, I love Israel... dirty palestenians can rot in hell for all I care...btw no one donated american troops to israel...they kick a$$ on their own pretty darn well...so STFU you uneducated moron
You are the uneducated one natawa. Our best alli Israel, has been a country while we fought wars in Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanastan, how many Israelis died. Oh there was about 70 Americans on the USS Liberty that were killed by Israel and jonathan Pollard spying for the Israelis on the US. Just saying this, Israel looks out for themselves and only themselves and that is what they should do, as American should do the same. So take your extra passport and put it where the sun doesn't shine. OK
DM57, look it up yourself. How many Americans that were also Israelis fought in those wars? Just started with Vietnam, and already found some 30,000 American Jews who died, having trouble finding dual-citizenship records, feel free to look also.
ALERT: ALERT: story by martin fletcher....another lying NBC reporter on the side of the terrorist........pull all advertising from NBC.
This could be the Legacy that President Obama is looking for
NBC lies with forked tongue. The recent escalation of Arab/ Moslem violence against the Jews is a PA-Fatah/ Hamas orchestrated campaign. It's designed to influence Obama to pressure more concessions out of Israel. Is there no honesty or integrity left at NBC?
Palestinians, the world's WATB, professional deadbeats and victims. PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO US, MR. PRESIDENT! We have learned over the years from our friends in North Korea, that extortion pays very well
Scared of the truth eh
If we can have Dearborn, Michigan right in the US, imagine how it will be for Jews of Israel and other non-Muslims and minority sect Muslims!
We see Muslims inventing problems in most of the non-Muslim nations and many Muslim nations.
Even in the US, we can notice these actions!
For 9/11, Pakis and Saudis were responsible.
In the US, one Muslim from Bangladesh wanted to blow up Fed Reserve. He had come for studies and was hardly twenty! As per his family: "he is pious and he wanted to study."
Many Pakis including the Hadley have been involved in Islamic inspired terror attacks and terror plans have been too many. One Saudi chemical engineering student wanted to have chemical weapons for his jihad in the US.
When Muslims form more than five percent, downhill march starts.
Muslims are inventing problems in Myanmar, Thailand, Philippines, India and other places.
When they form more than 30 percent then it is Sudan, Somalia, Nigeria, Lebanon (few decades back)
In Muslim majority nations, they are doing genocides of minority Islamic sects like Shiites, Sufis, Ahmedias and other minority tribes.
They are indulging in rapings, lootings, killings and genocides of Muslims in Libya, Yemen, Mali, Iraq, Syria, Pakistan, Afghanistan and other places.
Also examine how females are treated by followers of Islamic cult!
WE HAD ENOUGH FROM THEM.
LET ALL SANE PEOPLE (MUSLIMS AND NON-MUSLIMS) OPPOSE ISLAMIC HEROIN ADDICTS ESPECIALLY SUNNI ONES.
please explain to the audience why our administration is arming these people, ty
thrill22: Oil companies, arms industries and their lobbyists determine US, British, French, German and other Western nations.
Rest are talks, shows and dances to cover up the dirty corrupt and immoral acts.
Peace will come when the Messiah arrives. Can you spell N...E...V...E...R!
Why are the Palestinians going on the "unrest"???? Everything they have has been GIVEN to them,.....let them do and produce for themselves. If they cause trouble, which they would never do, would they ?,....destroy them. Enough of this muslem crap.
The Palestininas have been given a geographically divided potential country with few resources and dependent upon Israel for any movement (including to their jobs if they can find one.) The land they have been led to believe will be theirs in a two state solution is being continually rearranged to build more Israeli settlements. Anything legitimately going into and out of the WB is controlled by Israel and they can and do shut down movement of goods whenever they want for whatever reason they want. If any state in this country was subject to that kind of foreign government control I guarantee you that the population would be loading up their arsenals and causing havoc and we would be cheering them on.
Anita, your analogy fails on so many levels, it's absurd. Go read a history book. When the British mandate created Israel, it gave the entire area to the Jews, right? Oh wait, even just looking at a map of the area under British mandate proves that to be false. The Arabs were given MULTIPLE states. Israel is a tiny chunk of land and they keep giving more and more of it up at the continually broken promise of peace.
Kim - the British didn't create Israel. The UN did in 1947. The original area given to Israel was even smaller than it was pre-1967 because the Israeli's gained territory in the arab attack immediately following the UN mandate. Israel gained more territory in 1967 and 73, gave the largest chunk (the Sinai) back to Eygpt in a peace agreement and has been fighting with the Palestinians over Gaza and the WB ever since. Israel agreed to a two state solution in exchange for peace. They have had peace with the WB for some time now. Read a history book - not an Israeli history book.
I agree most of the countries in the middle east were created by the west, primarily Britain, and are based on the perceived economic interests of the west, not the least sensitive to the cultural, ethnic and tribal divisions of the region. The most egregious example is Iraq.
Oh, I'm surprised you admit the Arabs attacked Israel.
And as for that "Peace Agreement" for Sinai. Where's the peace?
You don't need a history book to read the news of almost daily rocket attacks, you just have to find a news outlet willing to publish it, because the mainstream media likes to drum up support for those "oh, so poor Palestinian terrorists".
You also fail to mention how Jordan and Syria don't count as part of this "two-state solution", which isn't a new thing, btw.
Are you implying that a "Palestinian" history book would be accurate? They walked out of Africa into Israel and have had a thriving culture and civilization there for the past 50,000 years?
First you tell me to read a history book and then you tell me I don't need to. Which is it pumpkin?
Kim the banned reregister,
Revisionist history again.
The British mandate was 7% owned by jews in 1947. Partition offered them 53%, but this was not accepted by either side. Transjordan was not part of the British mandate, it was a separately administered area.
We do need to look at history. Israel attacked first in 1967. This is well documented with corroberation from the Israeli commanders of the time.
The UN recognised Israel in 1948 not '47, after the cease fire.
Freddy,
The palistinians have a severely restricted access to trade. Raw materials are restricted and the infrastructure is insufficient for growing businesses. Even food production is hampered by the time it takes to get from one place to another through all the various checkpoints.
Why would they want to live there, no jobs limited resources lousy farming, but then they don't put much effort into it do they? the Israelis make it work but then they try to make it work, the truth is these people are the rejects they are like Europe's Gypsies, they are like North Koreans to the Japanese, they are not even a race they are a collection of undesirables that needed a place to hang out, they came from all over the ME, they are lazy, they are poorly educated. and you really cant help them they are to stupid to realize that you might be trying to help them, they are like Bedouins that are to lazy to move their camp. they are people waiting for a hand out. that makes them a problem. that makes them dangerous. some of them prefer to live among the Israelis and try to have a decent life and they do better except that the rockets cant tell them from the Jews. things will pick up after Berry visits them personally,I would not show them recognition they will act up just like the gays did that's all it takes is recognition no offence intended. once they know that Berry knows they are there then they will not let anyone forget it. if it means blowing up the community. the trick is your not supposed to feed them in the first place, they would have all moved on and their would be no problem.
D Buck somehow I don't think you have ever been outside of your little pissant town. Palestinians are all over the world, in business all over the world, including the US. So swallow your white sheet and choke on it OK. Now where are all of the people always yelling anti-semite when somebody says something like this.
Anita, you need to read a history book to learn about the Middle East. You should really have that information before trying to debate or discuss the topic.
To find out about the almost daily rocket attacks that plague Israel and her civilians, Jews, Christians, Muslims, all of them, is something you do not need a history book for.
I apologize, I understand there's enough crap and incessant rambling on this page to give anyone a headache, my sentance was "You don't need a history book to read the news of almost daily rocket attacks."
So, to summarize:
1. I said learn Israel's history. (You may need a book for this)
2. Read about the rocket attacks. (history book not required, and unlikely that you'll find one that includes today's rocket attack)
There was even one today, but you should take a more detailed look at the history of the land where Israel sits today, including before becoming a country.
@DM57 Like I said they are a mix of Peoples as we in the US are, not a pure Race, as for the" trouble makers" that live in the region to hell with them, I stand by my opinion and yes I have been to the region they are screwed up and so are allot of the other people including the Orthodox Jews. you can have that part of the world. today I don't have to much of a opinion for the human race in general let alone any level of respect for radicals and murderers. I do appreciate your opinion even if I don't share the same enthusiasm. all the violence is not necessary. the so called fighters are cowards that attack at random and hide behind children as they kill children. they are a noxious people. if they had no Jews to hate they would select another group to hate. they hate us and we are feeding them, while those wonderful business people you refer to buy them weapons and rockets so they can kill Israelites, the thing they don't concern themselves with is how many of their own they get killed in the process, its a group of people incapable of reason and full of hate. that is why they can't get anywhere with the rest of the world. they don't deserve anything, they haven't earned anything, but Obama will stand behind them just the same and the unrest will spread because of it. like I said don't feed them. O won't be happy just ruining America he will want to do the whole planet.
Islam is full of sayings of wisdom to aid the understanding, they resemble ours in meaning like" a shoe in the door "="a camels nose" meaning if a camel gets his nose into the tent the camel will follow " " a storm starts with a single drop of rain " the Object of Islam is to build their mosque on top of your cathedral's and capital buildings, do you think the Tundra in the capitol would work for the base for a huge mosque, all those capital domes could be turned into mosque, just like everywhere else the Muslims conquered the dome in Istanbul used to be a catholic Basilica for the eastern Roman empire the capital of Constantinople before the camel got in and the rain fell. oh well that won't happen in America till they finish in Europe.
I think the Palestinians are just excited that obama is coming to visit them. They want to put on a good show for another member of the Muslim Brotherhood.
other than costing us millions and millions what exactly will this trip accomplish. Obama should stay home and work on problems here.
@Washington;Why would he want to do that? what would his attempting to fix Americas problems do for his Excellency's bid to lead the world, besides he couldn't fix a dog fight against a blind dog, hell he cant even come up with a budget, that's his first job assignment and you can see how well he did with that, he just demands that the Senate give him all that he wants, if he wants more raise taxes and borrow him some more money, what do we need a budget for? we can just print more money, just like the socialist always do, who cares if it causes a lifetime of savings to dissipate. its very important to be liked around the world so we need to give till it hurts then give some more. besides Berry's Father had a dream and its Berry's responsibility to make that dream come true even if it destroys America, he cant even designate responsibility to have a budget drawn up and he is supposedly running this country, that is when he isn't flying off somewhere on one of his so called working Vacations, that generally involve golf and basket ball. the look on the faces of the Republicans when they try to work with him is self explanatory, a shocked look of disbelief that this man could be so incorrigible, and so delinquent of reason, totally void of common sense he is not here for us, he is not here for anyone but his fathers dream, his only ambition is to buzz around in the big sky ride and play all day at our expense, he is such a great leader that his Idea of running the government is to ask the state governor's to put pressure on the republican Senate to make them give him his way and then run off to play WTF?, I guess he forgot that allot of those governors are Republicans, as far as doing for the nation he has done nothing, Nada thing, except divide the people into two groups reasonable and stupid. he is big on the civil rights movement of the 60's to bad we are no longer in the 60'she might have made a difference. the country is leaderless and nothing can be done till the leader shows up and I don't think that that is going to happen, the American people have a pretty statue of a hero to worship now that Rosa Parks is immortalized in the Capital but she refuses to feed people and by the time MrO is done with us we are going to need food, to take our minds off the draft that blows through the living room under the bridge. your Obama not mine Obama believes the only problem we have in America is the Republicans wont find a way to give him more money. dumb Republicans don't they know what a credit card is.
I am one in the crowd that raises there hand for the "you dosent care "...
If the UN and the US will stop giving the trouble makers money the trouble will stop. The Jews got the deed to the land and the UN gave it to them in 1949. To late to ask them to give it back now. Let the Jew handle the problem and take away the money and we will all live in peace. Of course NBC would have nothing to report.
You are indeed blind these people care only about wiping Isreal off the map they don t care about anything else and when that is done they will come for us you are just ignorant.
and you need to adjust the tinfoil on your head. What part of we are broke don't you understand.
If we are broke, why are you at peace with our money going to Egypt and Pakistan?
Maybe the World will get "Lucky" and the closet Anti-Semite Hussein will take one from his home team muslim brothers while overseas. Then they can say "we're sorry" we were just trying to KILL Jews.
After systematically and extremely efficiently eliminating most of the muslim extremist leaders, I'm sure the muslim radicals all DO want to shoot President Obama.
we can only hope
How dare you appropriate the moniker "Captain Kirk" while hoping for the assassination of the President of the United States.
You do know that Captain Kirk was fictional, right?
There have been no Israeli deaths in the West Bank for a year and in return for practicing restraint the Palestinians have received nothing except more settlement building. Uprisings re-occur when people realize that peaceful resistance isn't working at all. If the Israeli's want to maintain peace and encourage the Palestinians to do likewise they have to move off the dime about establishing the two state solution and stop screwing around about land swaps. The Palestinians already have territories separated geographically in the WB and Gaza. If you look at the map of the WB with the areas Israel wants to keep the map looks like swiss cheese. An independent state can not exist and function with that geographical profile.
Palestinians have achieved nothing by being silent. I don't support violent uprising but they are likely thinking they have nothing to lose by doing so since they have achieved nothing practicing peaceful resistance.
Practicing restraint??? Are you serious? Please use your real name, Snooki, we know it's you. No one is THAT stupid.
WHEN have they tried peaceful resistance? Was there a full month where Israel wasn't subjected to rocket attacks? There wasn't.
We are talking the West Bank, not Gaza, which isn't under control of the Palestinian Authority and the Israeli's are not building settlements in Gaza.
I am using my real name which is more than you can say Snooki. Try engaging in conversation, discussion and debate without reducing yourself to insults, disrespect and displaying your own stupidity. How much is McCain and Netanyahu paying you to shill for them?
I will tell you something Anita, you must be a sympathizer to the cause or you have your head up your A$$ cause you are totally clueless about the problem and what is causing it.
Captain - see paragraph two of comment 23.2.
The problem is much more complex than "Israel good, Palestinians bad" though that appears to be the position of lots of people drinking the Israeli kool-aid.
I am and have been for decades a supporters of Israel, their right to exist and their claim to Jerusalem. Islam has plenty of holy sites including mosques built on the spot where Mohammed's brother-in-laws best friends daughters babysitters cousin spit on the ground. Jews have one - Jerusalem - and it should be an Israeli city. Nonetheless, the politics of Israel is still directed toward eliminating Palestinians from the West Bank by bull dozing their homes, cutting them off from their fields and paving over it all with housing projects for Israelis. There is no attempt on either side to try to integrate these populations because to do so would be to eliminate the Jewish state. Israel controls movement in, out and within the West Bank, can control resources moving in and out of the WB, collects revenues moving across the border and withholds the Palestinian share of those revenues any time they get cranky.
Yasser Arafat was the worst internal enemy Palestinians ever had and in the words of Eban, "...never missed an opportunity to miss an opportunity." There is plenty of blame to go around on both sides but the point is that the WB palestinians have been essentially quiescent for some time now because the Israeli's said there could be no negotiations while there was violence. Well the violence has subsided and there is still no negotiation.
Israel is our ally but they are not the 51st state. They would turn on us in a minute if it were in their best national interests (we still have one of their spies in our jail system) and the US should be concerned with our national interests first. Israel's attempts to influence the last election should annoy every single US voter.
I simply understand why the WB populace would see the occasion of the US President's visit to raise some hell because the world will be paying attention and they need to make noise while people are watching.
@Anita-2036926, "There is plenty of blame to go around on both sides but the point is that the WB palestinians have been essentially quiescent for some time now because the Israeli's said there could be no negotiations while there was violence. Well the violence has subsided and there is still no negotiation."
You rebuke your own statement. Subsided violence does not equal no violence and Israel cannot negotiate with the "Palestinians" because Hamas (who control Gaza) and Fatah (who control the WB) have completely different agendas and doctrines. So until there is a unified representation for the "Palestinians" that recognizes the right for Israel to exist in peace and security there will be no solution.
Any decision for the WB to "raise a little hell" as a show for Obamas visit would not do the WB any favors. When you hope to have a dialog with somebody; poking them in the eye before hand will not help you win you any favors. It will more than likely just get you poked in the eye right back.
Ok, so the Snooki comment was over the top.
But there were news articles about violence in the West Bank just a few days ago, before that prisoner died. I can't say how he died, McCain and Netanyahu don't give me any kind of update scribbled on the checks they send me. (That's a joke btw, but I know most of the haters here won't comprehend that)
But he certainly wasn't arrested for being peaceful and handing out flowers.
The devil is alive and well in this part of the world, thriving on the hatred and death of innocents. Indeed he is smiling about a job well done...
And our world worries about an asteroid impact destroying us? By what right do we have to survive in this world. We are an infestation and blight on this beautiful planet, wantonly killing and pillaging at will. But we will get what we deserve, I believe. And the balance will once again be as at was before....
YOU are an infestation and blight for sure, the rest of us are not.
you could say that the introduction of man with his greed for land and his need for boundarieswas a failed experiment. the world has been around for billions of years and in the big picture man is a relatively new addition to the equation, I don't believe with what I have seen of man that he will be around much longer and that will be better for the planet then having these vile creatures running around hating each other because they don't think alike. man will make a fine fossil fuel for the future inhabitants, sooner or later the Gods will get it right. they have to! the Planet is at half life. lets see we are in the 5th world so there is time for another 4 or possible 5 more alterations before the planet expires I think that's good use of a petri dish.
can u imagine being Obama meeting Palestinian officials? So how do you like the robot bombing that is killing your children? HA HA HA we do whatever we want so suck it.
America if you don't wake up and start taking responsibility for your war crimes a great war will surely find you. History will repeat itself and the horrible economy will be the last of your worries.
Wake up and call congress, call your senators and ask that all the unconstitutional wars come to a halt as well as the assassinations through drones strikes END!!!!
And then everyone who hates us will fall in love with us, and everything will become just peachy, right?
