Subscribe to RSSAMSTERDAM — The Netherlands raised its alert level for terrorist attacks to "substantial" on Wednesday, citing an increase in the number of Islamist militants traveling from the Netherlands to Syria, as well as a radicalization of Dutch youth.
"The chance of an attack in the Netherlands or against Dutch interests abroad has risen," the National Coordinator for Security and Counterterrorism (NCTV) said in a statement.
"Close to a hundred individuals have recently left the Netherlands for various countries in Africa and the Middle East, especially Syria."
The agency said individuals fighting for radical Islam abroad could return and "inspire others in the Netherlands to follow in their footsteps."
Political changes in the Middle East and North Africa have made space for an expansion of radical Islamic groups that are no longer under the control of security forces, the agency said.
Dutch police and intelligence services have deployed extra personnel to investigate suspect individuals and monitor sources, the agency said.
The Netherlands has not suffered a major terrorist attack, but a radical Dutchman of Moroccan origin murdered the provocative filmmaker Theo van Gogh, who was critical of multiculturalism and of Islam, in Amsterdam in 2004.

i'm not certain i'd ever wanna be associated with any of those atrocities. gee, those syrians are REALLY mean-spirited, what with shooting, raping and otherwise committing antisocial sodomite crimes against their own people. this is NO way to inspire national pride.

This is happening all over Europe but it is their own fault, the political correctness and the Culturalism allowed it happened. Muslims are taking over Europe little by little, they abandon Christianity to live a secular society now Muslims transform youth into radicals, that is call " evolution". The attacking to a Dutch newspaper for Muslims followers , for the publication of the cartoon of Mohamad , did not give them a clue about the raising of radicals in their country.

Just as there are extremists in every Religion, which some people seem to think Christianity is immuned *rolling eyes*, some are just more boystrous than others. Look at the Christians here in the USA who seem to think having an arsenal of weapons (like the military) to protect themselves against "The Evil Empire" *rolling eyes*, as many like to refer to the US Government & Military, might take over and force everyone into slavery...like that of the old Roman Empire Era. Becoming a citizen of a European country is even more difficult that becoming a citizen here. I know - I lived in Belgium for years. 'Liberal' Europeans countries aren't 'letting in droves' of Muslims, or anyone else.
And neither are we.

Given sufficient time the Netherlands will be indistinguishable from Islamic countries in the Middle-East. By the time the politically correct embracers of multiculturalism in the country comprehend the end game of such a philosophy with an Islamic component it will be to late.

Why they were left in the first place?
Some nations like Britain, France and others love to give asylum even to Islamic terrorists/criminals wanted in their own nations!
Then they spend huge monies on trials when they are involved in terrorist activities at many stages (including EU rights) and then take some action.

The last I checked, the number of immigrants coming into this country is far lower than when Clinton and GWB were Presidents!! There are fewer H1-B Visas being issued and the cost to become a US resident has tripled under Obama! (I know because I paid for my friend's citizenship as a birthday gift. It was not cheap...I forfieted a trip to Hawaii.) I also worked for an Indian Company at the time when the cost of H1-B Visas were tripled and the number being issued fell. The company was not thrilled having to hire more Americans. It meant they had to pay more. This same company got hit big time when they were exposed for keeping the tax returns of their H1-B Visa employees. Tax laws prevent employers from taking a penny from its employees' tax returns even as a condition of employment. Too bad the USPS did not pick up on this when thousands of tax returns were being mailed directly to the company's HQ, where I worked! Oops, I should not have put the bug in an Indian employee's ear to see a tax attorney...just as I left the company for a better opportunity because they wanted me to train their workers to do my job! :)

Theo van Gogh was not critical of "multiculturalism"! He was openly gay! What he was "critical" of was the violent and homophobic immigrants from the arab world that kept on flocking to what used to be a completely progressive and inclusive country, so much so that said immigrants were not even being stopped from flooding in. Your error is tantamount to slander against someone committed to social justice and environmentalism.

Theo van Gogh embraced freedom of speech and died for it. He dared to criticism the treatment of women by Islam in a movie. For this he was murdered by a Muslim , Mohammed Bouyeri.
Bouyeri attacked Theo on the street in Amsterdam in 2004; he shot van Gogh 8 times and tried to decapitate him with a knife. He left 2 knives implanted in Theo's chest with one attaching a note that threatened Western countries , Jews and others seen as critical of Islam. Bouyeri is a second generation Islamic migrant from Morocco.
At his trial , the murderer stated that he had no sympathy for the victim's mother because she was a non-believer , a non Muslim. He said , if given the opportunity he would murder again. Lastly , he argued that , "in the fight of the believers against the infidels violence is approved by the prophet , Muhammad."
Islam does not recognize the right of anyone to criticize it. Islam rejects freedom of speech , press and religion. Islam denies women equal rights with men.

Anonymous and those hacker groups that want to free Manning and also support Assange are part of the terrorists counter-intelligence efforts to twist the war against them in the same manner that the war was twisted during the Vietnam War which caused political dissention and the evenutal loss.

Instead of playing the blame card use such energy by finding websites and Facebook listings that are located in the area and disseminating propoganda that America is in support of the African people in their fight against the terrorists.
The first rule of war is too control the intelligence and counter-intelligence where the enemy is operating.
Permiating such websites and Facebook or MySpace pages with support for the Africans against the terrorists WILL reach the terrorist commanders. When they realize that they are surrounded by support for the Africans even on the Internet the terrorist will become disenhearted and will not have any place to turn to.
The terrorists attacked the world on 9.11.01. Its only favorable that such an attack be returned in kind.
There was a reason for European nations driving out Muslims hundreds of years ago. They learned that Islam is incompatible with western culture. Combating Terrorism - New Job oppurtunity for singers and other talent. There is an untapped resource around the world involving radio stations. If a platform was created where a website was created that sponsored radio stations around the world then we would be better able to understand the cultures from around the other side of the world. A monthly fee would be charged for the service where the subscriber could then listen to any radio station from the world that they wanted to. An in station video cam along would be present along with subtitles in the subscribers native language....Job creation....technological job creation....the list goes on an on......Fighting the global war on terrorism one radio at a time.

I left America to live in one of those “liberal European countries.” Since 2006, the laws for immigration have been strengthened almost annually.
Currently, one has three options:
1) Stay here for up to 90 days; visa not required for citizens of most Western countries;
2) Renounce your current citizenship and take full citizenship, which requires, among many other things, being proficient in the local language (along with an authorized diploma to support it), knowledge of the country’s history (which goes back over 1,000 years), proof that you can support yourself and any relatives who may accompany you, proof that you have health insurance for yourself and all family members, proof that you have registered your address with your local police precinct, a valid passport from your former homeland, proof that you have a valid lease or own a home, proof that you have good credit, proof that you have never been convicted of a crime, and a lot of other qualifications including swearing allegiance to the country; or
3) Live here as a resident alien, which means getting a visa good for one year at a time, annually going through an increasingly grueling nightmare of bureaucracy (which usually takes about two months provided you have all your papers in order) involving most of the qualifications listed above for full citizenship.
Recent changes in the law have made a diploma in the local language mandatory even for a one-year resident alien visa, as well as proof not only that you have a lease and health insurance, but that you have paid for them each month for the previous year (and anyone who wants to be here for more than 90 days MUST have health insurance, for which the premiums are based on your income), registration with the police (which you have to change if you move, even within your district), original birth certificate, etc.
I might also mention that we are regularly on lists of the 10 countries with the highest standard of living; crime is minimal, with violent crime virtually non-existent (and let me mention that statistics show the number of legal firearms in the country is equal to approximately half the population of the country); and even McDonald’s can use only domestic beef (and all genetically-altered food is banned; we’re very “green”).
So it may not be as easy as you think to get into – and live in – any old “liberal European country.”
Expatriate====== It's a known fact Muslims have larger families that others in Europe. No need for more immigration just wait for the inevitable outcome. There are several books written on this reality.
