All I have to say about the whole Israel Palestinian issue is both sides have more than enough blame to go around and there are groups on both sides that I believe don't want the conflict to end. I do think there is a large group of the average people there that would like to see peace but there are those in power that don't want it. For me I'm fine with us being an ally to Israel but I'm not fine with all the aid we send them, or Egypt for that matter, and like others have said, I see little return for all we have spent on them or others in the region. I keep hearing how Israel can take care of itself, well then great, let them do it. I'm also not fine with the large amount of influence they have in our government and on our foreign policy. If we help them then they need to understand who has most say here. They want to do their thing then our money goes away. Israel's interests are for them first, US second, if that. Any of you that are so super supportive of Israel need to learn that they have done just as many bad things as Hamas and the rest, and if you like them so much move there and stop putting their interests over the US. Same goes for all the sell outs in DC.

The US should just pull all aid from the entire region and be done with it. Only when a serious and meaningful attempt to find a peaceful solution is agreed upon should we come back.

Yes, I would say that we are very much involved up to our noses in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, and I would prefer if the President made our continuing financial support conditional on the providence of much-greater freedom for the Palestinian people, which might have to include some compensation for the land stolen and the lives lost, as well as some return of Palestinian lands too.

When you wait to the last minute to do everything, of course there is still time. But that is not a very good strategy, just look what happened with the sequester. There should be room left for error or unforeseen events. This is not some college exam or term paper you can wait until the last minute to study for or write.
