Israeli police officers stand near the remains of a rocket fired by Palestinian militants after it landed in the town of Sderot on Thursday.
JERUSALEM - Two rockets exploded in a southern Israeli town near the Gaza border on Thursday, the second day of U.S. President Barack Obama's visit to the Jewish state, Israeli police said.
One of the rockets damaged the yard of an Israeli home but there were no immediate reports of injuries. There were also no immediate claims of responsibility issued in Hamas Islamist-ruled Gaza.

This is clearly the work of Iran, sending a message via Ham-as, or Hezbollah, maybe both to our President. I am not a huge fan of President Obama, but he is still the American President and Israel an ally. It seems to me that the Palestinian people would be civil and on good behavior to impress Obama that they are at least trying, not the case. Syria's Assad is now using chemical weapons and I am quite sure, Turkey will invade soon. So, I think these people want to encourage a war beyond what has been normal in the area, Iran is just wanting to be nuked, firing just one missile from Iran would mostly cause an exchange that would end Iran as a country, at least as we know it. Israel would probably come out unscathed, totally. I believe that the job isn't finished in that part of the world, and maybe why the clown in Alghanistan wants us out, is that we would need a base, we have plenty of options there. GOD bless all in the world who wants peace, and those who are just evil can go to hell.

Israel has been fighting an existential war since their inception nin 1948. They were attacked in '56 and '67 - where they took back some land used to advance the attack on them. That land, the West Bank and Golan Heights, should never be given back to the offenders or the Palestinians. Israel earned that land during the war. They were again attacked on Yom Kippur '73. The attacks still come, but from less organized groups than Syrian, Jordan and Egypt. They came from political/terror groups residing in Gaza. I've been to Gaza. There was nothing really permanent there, but the Pals built a city, allow rockets to be flung towards Israel from apartments and complain when there is a Military response. Too Bad!! When a Pal carried his 10-year old son into the street and cried that the Israelis killed him during the last Gaza Intifada, the world condemned Israel. Well, Israel investiogated and found the bullet was a Palestinian bullet. The boy was killed because the WORLD would react against the Israelis. No major publication covered the fact that the boy was shot by his own people.
What I could never understand is how the Palestinians would allow rockets to be fired on a day of significance into Israel, while President Obama is visiting and would like to push for a two state solution. It is self-defeating to allow these events to occur, and when have we ever heard of the Palestinians catching the perpetrators, while issuing apologies for the behavior of the zealots the Israeli's feel they must defend themselves from?
Both sides need to stop aggression or the Israeli's will continue to inhabit the West Bank and territories the Palestinians lost during the six day war. Hate for the sake of hate will never resolve the differences. An all out war will devastate the homelands of both peoples. There is nothing to be gained! Pride doesn't mean anything, if the land is lost to a nuclear holocaust, because of religious zealotry!
Or is it like a cross each nation must bear, in order to show the world they are willing to be martyrs, rather than accept that there can only be a solution when the weapons are removed from the negotiations? Waving swords, throwing rocks, and shooting rockets is what uneducated people do, like monkeys shaking sticks!
There can be no resolution until each side can control its own people. This is more like a family feud that never ends, because grandpa taught his kids to hate the neighbors and started fights with them, and the neighbors retaliated exactly the same way. There can be no solution without both families wanting peace and restraining the grandpas, with force if necessary, to keep them from ignoring the needs of the children and the return to civility.
Tossing rockets into the neighbor's yard only guarantees another generation of war. If the meek shall inherit the earth, then the meek must restrain the fools who love the thrill of war and have learned to love hate, more than they love life!
How many lives must be lost before both sides stop pointing fingers and sit down, come to a resolution that neither side will enjoy, and walk away in full agreement because that is what true patriots do? Ending the disagreement is more important than being right! Both sides claim righteousness, and there shall be no peace until two wise men lead them out of the wilderness!
No land deserves to have blood spilled upon it. Yet people forget that! They forget themselves that man can learn to adapt, and prosper, as long as economic structure and jobs sustain the people who have stopped the fighting. Or has greed and righteousness convicted both families to eternal strife, in a prison of their own making?
This is the story every nation hopes for a peaceful solution to, but the two families must want it enough to put the weapons down, come to an agreement, and then abide by it! No more rocks and rockets. No more hate. The new generations must learn to trust again, without reservation! And the greedy must be punished when they create the conditions that lead back to an unsustainable situation. The greedy must be part of the solution, and not allowed to use the differences to enflame the families for the wealth they can gain by selling weapons, while pushing for more war. Peace and harmony are the only solution, not weapons and hate! Purity is no longer possible in our world. We must learn to work together , for the common good, or we shall perish, or our children will, at our hands.

viknat, you DO know the Bush Admin authorized US Foreign Aid directly to the PA BEFORE the current Administration, correct? As did Administrations BEFORE Bush.

Bush was only the 4th US President to use WAIVER to send direct aid to the PA. Obama is now the 5th.
