Obama appeals to Israelis: Give justice to the Palestinians

President Barack Obama on Thursday urged the Israeli people to put themselves in the shoes of Palestinians and recognize their "right to self-determination, their right to justice." NBC's Chuck Todd reports.

President Barack Obama on Thursday urged the Israeli people to put themselves in the shoes of Palestinians and recognize their "right to self-determination, their right to justice."

In a televised speech at the Jerusalem Convention Center, Obama said there should be "two states for two peoples."

Breaking off from his prepared text, he said that he recently met with a group of young Palestinians.

"Talking to them, they weren’t that different from my daughters, they weren’t that different from your daughters or sons," he said.

"I honestly believe that if any Israeli parent sat down with these kids, they’d say, 'I want these kids to succeed, I want them to prosper, I want them to have opportunities just like my kids do,'" he added to applause.

Obama, on the second day of his first official trip to Israel, warned that "the only way for Israel to endure and thrive as a Jewish and democratic state" was through the creation of an independent Palestine.

That state had to be "viable" with real borders, he said, criticizing the building of settlements in the West Bank.

President Obama receives applause from a crowd in Jerusalem Thursday by challenging groups that reject Israel.

He urged ordinary Israelis to put pressure on their leaders to achieve a future in which Jews, Christians and Muslims could live in peace.

"I also know that not everyone in this hall will agree with what I have to say about peace. I recognize that there are those who are not simply skeptical about peace, but question its underlying premise, have a different vision for Israel’s future and that's a part of democracy and the discourse between our two countries," he said.

"Peace is necessary, I believe that. I believe that peace is the only path to true security. You have the opportunity to be the generation that permanently secures the Zionist dream, or you can face a growing challenge to its future," he added.

President Barack Obama shakes hands with Israel's President Shimon Peres after Obama was presented with the Presidential Medal of Distinction, Israel's highest civilian honor, during an official state dinner in Jerusalem on Thursday.

At a state dinner in Jerusalem Thursday evening, Israel's President Shimon Peres awarded Obama with Israel’s highest honor — the Presidential Medal of Distinction — emphasizing what Peres called his "unforgettable contribution" to the security of Israel.

U.S. support for the Iron Dome missile defense system had been instrumental in saving Israeli lives, Peres said.

As Obama sat at the dais with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife Sara before a room full of Israeli dignitaries, Peres called out the U.S. president's "tireless work to make Israel strong to make peace possible."

Peres said he was "convinced" the United States "will do whatever is necessary on the Iranian threat."

Obama said he was accepting the award "on behalf of the American people."

Israel must avoid 'isolation'
In his address at the convention center Obama stressed that America would always support Israel, echoing his comments Wednesday that the U.S. was Israel's "eternal" ally.

But he said peace had to be made between "peoples" and could not be achieved through military hardware alone.

"Given the frustration in the international community, Israel must reverse an undertow of isolation. And given the march of technology, the only way to truly protect the Israeli people over the long term is through the absence of war — because no wall is high enough, and no Iron Dome is strong enough and perfect enough, to stop every enemy that’s intent on doing so from inflicting harm," he added.

There was a warm, official welcome for President Obama in Ramallah. In the streets, away from the Palestinian government compound, street demonstrations. NBC's Martin Fletcher reports.

Obama said Israel could not be expected to negotiate with anyone "dedicated to its destruction."

But he said he believed that Israelis had a "true partner" in Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, along with Prime Minister Salam Fayyad. On a visit to the West Bank earlier Thursday, Obama condemned the Palestinian Hamas party, which holds sway in the Gaza Strip and is a rival to Abbas' Fatah movement.

President Barack Obama embraces Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas upon his arrival at the presidential compound in the West Bank city of Ramallah on Thursday.

"So many young Palestinians have rejected violence. There’s an opportunity there. There’s a window," he said. "Peace is possible."

At one point in the speech, someone in the audience began heckling Obama, who peered toward the back of the hall to try to see what was happening.

"This is part of the lively debate we talked about," he said, referencing a line earlier in his speech. "This is good."

He joked about media reports that he and Prime Minister Netanyahu do not get along. It was just a "plot" between him and "my friend Bibi" to give journalists something to write about, he suggested.

Earlier, Obama met with Abbas in the West Bank.

After his helicopter touched down in Ramallah, Obama was greeted cordially by Abbas and the two hugged.

"We cannot give up on the search for peace, no matter how hard it is. ... Too much is at stake," the president said during a joint news conference.

President Barack responds to a heckler in the crowd during his speech Thursday to the Israeli people at the Jerusalem Convention Center .

'Misery' of Hamas
He sounded hopeful about Abbas and the Palestinian Authority and reiterated U.S. willingness to help.

"The United States is deeply committed to the creation of an independent and sovereign state of Palestine," he said, adding, "Simply, Palestinians deserve a state of their own."

When asked whether he thought a halt to further settlement activity was required before peace talks could begin in earnest, Obama demurred.

"If the only way to even begin the conversation is that we get everything right from the outset … then we’re never going to get to the broader issue, which is how you actually structure a state of Palestine that is sovereign and contiguous," the president said.

"The core issue right now is how do we get sovereignty for the Palestinian people and ensure security for the Israeli people," he added. "If we solve those two problems, the settlement problem will be solved."

The president praised Abbas for his leadership and sharply criticized rival group Hamas for the "misery" of Palestinians in Gaza.

For his part, Abbas said he had "renewed confidence" in U.S. assistance with the peace process after meeting with Obama.

"We have conducted a good and useful round of talks," he said through an interpreter.

Abbas called for an end to Israeli construction of settlements in Palestinian territories.

He warned that continued building of the sites was causing Palestinians, particularly the younger generation, to lose hope that Israel and a sovereign Palestine could peacefully co-exist.

When young Palestinians see the settlements, he said, "they do not trust the two-state solution anymore, and this is very dangerous" for the future.

Two rockets that may have been a show of protest were fired into southern Israel close to the border with the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip early Thursday.

I agree. The democrats have some areas/policies I can't agree with as do the republicans. They both need to compromise just a little bit more,. Also, Some would argue the Republican policies of "wealthFAIR" is what got us in this mess and is very much wrong with the country.

P.S. When Obama was reelected, people said the Republican policies of telling me who I can marry, what my religion should be, my family values, and that legitimate rape is okay (god said so), was WRONG for this country. Which I agree with 100%

Both parties are corrupt

Hmmm.. No offense, after reading your comments, it seems you think the republicans are 100% correct, for I have yet to see you call out their failures. :).

Yes, perhaps Obama should meet with the Greeks in their capital at Constantinople, or with the Buddhists in Afghanistan, or with the Jews of Medina, or with the Christians at Hippo, or the Zoroastrians in Persia. Perhaps he should visit Saeed Abedini at Avin prison or console the Syrian/Iraqi Christians whose churches have been bombed and their populations expelled by terror.

Perhaps he should meet with the family of Rami Ayyad. Rami was the owner of the LAST Christian bookstore owner in Gaza. After his bookstore was burned, Rami was dragged into the street and beaten to death by an angry crowd of Palestinians because he was non-Muslim.

Perhaps Obama should visit Hamza Kashgari a non-believer arrested and internationally extradited for some rather vanilla blasphemous tweets. Perhaps Obama should visit the graves of the millions of murdered victims of Blasphemy charges.

Generally I support Obama, but in this case he seems naive and undereducated. Islam is obsessed with hegemony and thought control and it is clearly and distinctly written in their holy books. They are to commit themselves to war and subterfuge until all other religions and cultures are extinguished or subjugated. Why do we condemn Nazi-ism yet give a pass to this similarly insidious ideology? The Palestinians have expressed on multiple occasions their adherence to this Islamic doctrine and its incorporation into their government constitution.

Israel is the size of New Jersey. The surrounding terrorist nations are more than 100x their size.

Why not break off a piece of Iraq or Saudi Arabia and create a Palestinian state?

Thousands of square miles of dead space surrounding Israel, but Palestine wants a piece of Israel.

Hmmm... maybe because they choose war over peace???

I thought the Muslims have to give 10% of everything as one of their pillars. So, maybe one of these super wealthy terrorist princes can build them a state of their own.

You need to go back to your history class, the Arabs declare war and attack Israel and Israel defend their territory, Israel won the war and the Arab lost part of their territory including Palestine territory, non of the Arab countries give a Sh$@# for their Palestinian boithers and they stay like refugies for years, Israel is the only state that provide help. Arabs used Palestinians in their 7 days war but never compensate for their lost. Since then Palestinians are killing civilians Jews , blowing thousand of rockers hitting hospitals , schools , using suicides bombs and car bombs. Israel have the right to defend their self and keep the territories they took. That is a war, this is how Mexico lost their territory, also this is how Bolivia, Peru lost their territory, and many other countries, but none of those countries send rockets of suicide bombs, can you see the difference.

If Truman hadn't backed the creation of Israel in 1948, which restricted Arabs from going to some of their holiest places this might not be an issue today. Or, if we had made Israel our 51st state, it may not have as well. Perhaps we should have minded our own business back then?

I would really like to know how Obama would propose a "contiguous" Palestinian state. Is he going to propose cutting Israel in half to connect the Gaza Strip to the West Bank or does he just not understand what the word contiguous means. The best way to advance the peace would be to completely ignore Hamas and the Gaza Strip for now and reach an agreement with the Palestinian Authority on the West Bank territory. Hamas definitely does not want peace and so long as they are in control in Gaza there will never be a peace deal that includes decisions regarding Gaza. This was made abundantly clear by Hamas choosing the visit of Obama to the area as the time to break the peace deal the Egyptians brokered several months ago and start launching rockets into Israel again. The best bet is to forget about Gaza and reach a deal with Abbas on the West Bank. That would completely marginalize Hamas and would probably cause the people to turn on them in order to bring about peace in Gaza as well. Of course I doubt Abbas would agree to this since it would probably result in Hamas loyalists trying to assassinate him.

Why not break off a chunk of Arizona? The point is, Iraq and Saudi Arabia are not ours with which to be doing such things. ( which goes to the root of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict!) The extremist Muslims find any excuse for violence: Visits by foreign dignitaries, bar mitzvahs, teenagers dancing in a nightclub, peace talks, other religions... The only opportunity for peace is if every non-Muslim on this planet converts to Islam. Oh, I almost forgot, they even murder other Muslims. Oh, well...

"Article Thirteen:

Initiatives, and so-called peaceful solutions and international conferences, are in contradiction to the principles of the Islamic Resistance Movement. Abusing any part of Palestine is abuse directed against part of religion. Nationalism of the Islamic Resistance Movement is part of its religion. Its members have been fed on that. For the sake of hoisting the banner of Allah over their homeland they fight. "Allah will be prominent, but most people do not know."

The problem over there is not that lack of a palestinian state but the presence of the state of Israel. Someone should explain to him the history of the place and go over all the US foreign policy over the past 60 years trying to befriend both sides and see how that worked out every time.

You see, all we have ever done is take out a checkbook and "buy" something that looked like peace. Now that worked in the 20th century...but the big picture is this is what happens when outsiders take a crayon and draw boundaries and declare states in the middle of a fight goes back thousands of years that two states want to exist in the same spot. He wants more of that solution? Any "time sharing" on the land was done via wars.

The PALESTINIANS DO NOT DESERVE A STATE OF THEIR OWN.

At any time since 1948 and including the present time, they could have had a state of their own, with tons of international help with needed finance and assistance with any growing pains. But, they have chosen to forgo such land and such international assistance. Rather they have chosen to deny Israel her own state, chalking up buckets of bloodshed, including, among other blood, both the blood of Israeli children and the blood of their OWN children.

President Obama is a Christian and until you can give us some poof otherwise, you won't mind if I call you a LIAR, will you? But even if he were a Muslim he'd still be 100 times the President that the last Rethuglican President, and I would have no problem voting for a Muslim if I believed that he or she would be a good President. Jordan gave them the West Bank (of Jordan). they are accepted by all Arabs, this whole terror war is about the injustice against the palestinians. What the heck are you thinking? where do you get your ideas? The grand parents of today's palestinian lived, owned land and were at peace until they where thrown out to create Israel. This terror war started in 1945. England let the irgun and stern gang use terror to displace these people.

on another note, ask a Jewish person what a "Goy" is. don't listen to what they say, just watch their facial expression. you will see the look of embarrassment and understand, that you are a Goy, or Goyim.

The first time i heard that word went like this. I was 8 years old, the temple across the street was letting out after mass. The sound of screeching tires and then impact was heard. people started running to the corner. One woman about ten feet from me was really upset, almost crying, she was speaking Hebrew, but I knew she feared for who ever was hit by that car. the husband went into the crowd and returned a min latter. he waved his hands in a motion that we use when trying to calm a person down, he smiled at her and said "Is Goyim". the woman stopped being upset. they left. i found out years later that "goyim" is "non jews". you are a Goy. not so important.

Is this better?

If Truman hadn't backed the creation of Israel in 1948, which restricted Arabs from going to some of their holiest places this might not be an issue today. Or, if we had made Israel our 51st state, it may not have as well. Perhaps we should have minded our own business back then?

WE caused this.

HOTTICKET-2304234

WE caused this.

Nailed it.

And it all started back in 1948.

And the result has been nothing but a miserable, perpetual hemorrhoid, not to mention a worthless money pit; for our Country ever since.

You both have a limited view of history. It actually extends back before 1948. That was just when the world tried to make things right. It is the Jews who have been restricted from going to the most holy of their sites. Between the Babylonians, the Romans, and the Muslims, the Jews have been robbed of their most holy sites for nearly two thousand years. The Temple Mount in old Jerusalem is the site where God gathered dust to create Adam. It is the site of Abraham's binding of Isaac and the location of two Jewish temples. It is the Muslims who desecrated the site with the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock after their typically violent and murderous conquest of Jerusalem in 637 AD.

How do both of you reconcile this in your limited understanding of history?

Arab critics of Israel speak of Jewish migration to Palestine after World War I, neglecting to mention that there has been a substantial and continuous Jewish presence in the land for over three thousand years, and a steady Jewish majority in Jerusalem. Nor do they care to remember that when, after World War II, the General Assembly proposed to partition Palestine, this followed an earlier (1922) and illegal partition by the British which gave almost 80% of the land promised to the Jews by the Balfour Declaration to create the Arab state of Transjordan. Thus, at the time of the 1947 partition vote in the United Nations, the Jews had already been unlawfully deprived of four-fifths of their entitlement.

However, the Arab State of Transjordan captured East Jerusalem, expelled all Jews and destroyed or desecrated all Jewish holy sites. This is the time when Jerusalem became "occupied territory." In addition to defying the U.N. Mandate, Transjordan also occupied the west bank of the River Jordan. No longer limited to being "Trans" (across) Jordan (the east bank), Transjordan reduced its name to simply Jordan, now ruling over both the occupied west bank and the original east bank of Jordan.

But this annexation of the "West Bank" by Jordan was not recognized by any nation of the world - except Great Britain and Pakistan. Jordan was even denounced by its Arab allies, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt and Saudi Arabia, who wanted to expel Jordan from the Arab League! It is claimed that 600,000 Arabs fled "temporarily," but temporarily became permanently when the Arab invaders failed to destroy the new State of Israel. David Ben-Gurion adamantly argued that the 600,000 figure was a lie. "The refugee issue is one of the biggest lies, even among our own people...I have all the figures. From the area of the State of Israel, only 180,000 Arabs left in 1948. There were 300,000 Arabs altogether in Israel and 120,000 remain."

In the 1967 Six Day War, under the threat of being "pushed into the sea" by Egypt, Syria and Jordan, Israel actually liberated the "occupied territory" of Jerusalem and granted free access to Jews, Christians and Moslems to worship at their respective holy sites. Israel also liberated the "West Bank" and Gaza. How easily recent history is forgotten. By comparison, Israel's administration, despite its faults, has been much more humane.

In the Six-Day War, Israel captured Judea, Samaria and East Jerusalem. But they didn't capture these territories from Yasser Arafat. They captured them from Jordan's King Hussein. I can't help but wonder why all these Palestinians suddenly discovered their national identity after Israel won the war.

The truth is that Palestine is no more real than Never-Never Land. ...Palestine has never existed ...as an autonomous entity. It was ruled alternately by Rome, by Islamic and Christian crusaders, by the Ottoman Empire and, briefly, by the British after World War I. The British agreed to restore at least part of the land to the Jewish people as their homeland.

<<<<<<<“Weren't the Arabs living in Palestine for hundreds of years or millenea before the Jews came? Why the Palestine reclaim the land for their own.

As I lived in Palestine, everyone I knew could trace their heritage back to the original country their great grandparents came from. Everyone knew their origin was not from the Canaanites, but ironically, this is the kind of stuff our education in the Middle East included.

...The fact is that today's Palestinians are immigrants from the surrounding nations! I grew up well knowing the history and origins of today's Palestinians as being from Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Christians from Greece, Muslim Sherkas from Russia, Muslims from Bosnia, and the Jordanians next door.

...My grandfather, who was a dignitary in Bethlehem, almost lost his life by Abdul Qader Al-Husseni (the leader of the Palestinian revolution) after being accused of selling land to Jews. He used to tell us that his village Beit Sahur (The Shepherds Fields) in Bethlehem County was empty before his father settled in the area with six other families. The town has now grown to 30,000 inhabitants.

I dare you to give us one shred of legitimate EVIDENCE that President Obama is a Muslim. Oh wait, your side doesn't believe in science, evidence, or learning. The Rethuglicans and Tea Klux Klan members to just make stuff up.

Vince: You have said nothing of value except to degrade me with name-calling in order to make your point. Only stupid people do that because they have no proof that he is not a muslim. Obama spends more time campaigning for muslims than he ever does for christians. Where is his voice in dealing with the atrocities that are going against christians in the other muslim countries? Where? If you haven't heard about them in the news, it's because they are not important to him.

That is why I have to question his affiliation. On every political debate he is more often taking a muslim's side than he is a christian's. Again, have to wonder? Hmm.... Only a blind person like yourself would not be able to see it.

President Obama beat the best and brightest that YOUR side had to offer, not once but TWICE and received over 50% of the popular vote each time, something that only 3 other people have done in the past 100 years. This isn't about political posturing. He has already won the Presidency. This is about how he does in that office. Only people like yourself can see this as being petty on my part. Goes to show you, you care more about looks than about the people you voted into office; in other words, what they stand for.

Are the Palestinians a separate and unique people, different from the other Arabs? When did the notion arise - of the Palestinians as a separate Arab people?

  • There is no language known as Palestinian. There is no distinct Palestinian culture. There has never been a land known as Palestine governed by Palestinians. Palestinians are Arabs, indistinguishable from Jordanians (another recent invention), Syrians, Lebanese, Iraqis, etc. Keep in mind that the Arabs control 99.9 percent of the Middle East lands. Israel represents one-tenth of 1 percent of the landmass.

But that's too much for the Arabs. They want it all. And that is ultimately what the fighting in Israel is about today. Greed. Pride. Envy. Covetousness. No matter how many land concessions the Israelis make, it will never be enough.

Redvirginia (#1.57): Absolutely!

PaulJohn: This didn't start in 1948, but your claim that it did does support your Neo-Nazi views. The start of the modern-day Arab-Israeli conflict can be traced to the Battle of Tel Chai and Nabi Musa. The master Muslim terrorists predated even the Nazi murderers by 20 years. Look up the 1920 Nabi Musa riots that happened long before Stern and Irgun were conceived. The activities of the Stern and Irgun were but a drop in the ocean compared with the number of homicide bombings perpetrated by the Muslims against all religions since the 1920s. PaulJohn: You and your reasoning skills (or lack thereof) are indeed pathetic.

"Nabi Musa was a pilgrimage holiday that flooded Jerusalem with Muslims. It had been instituted by Salah a Din to counter the large number of Christian pilgrims who swelled the city at Easter. The troubles began on the morning of April 4. The pilgrims were greeted by rallies and demonstrations that included incitement speeches and calls to massacre the Jews, led by Hajj Amin el Husseini, his uncle, the mayor of Jerusalem, Musa Kazem al Husseini and Aref el Aref. The Arabs chanted "Filasteen Arduna wa'al yahud Kilabuna" (Palestine is our land and the Jews are our dogs) "Itbach al Yahud (slaughter the Jews) and other slogans that became the hallmarks of such massacres. British police applauded."

The following was taken from:

Exposing False Zionist Quotes II (Quote Busters II) by Ricki Hollander (October 4, 2004)

"Hanan Ashrawi routinely propagates the common but false claim that land not owned by Jews in Palestine in 1948 belonged to Palestinian Arabs. In fact, historically, under Ottoman and British rule, most of the land was government owned. According to statistics from the Survey of Palestine, which was published in 1946 by British Mandate authorities, and later republished by the PLO-affiliated Institute for Palestine Studies, Jews owned 8.6 percent of the land and Arabs owned 28.6 percent. But the Arab total included Bedouin grazing land (8.4 percent) and waste land (13.4 percent), neither of which was legally ownable according to the prevailing Turkish and British land laws. Not counting Bedouin grazing land and waste land, Arab owned land totaled only 6.8 percent. But, even if one counts land in these categories as Arab owned, the majority of land in Palestine in 1948 was state land, which did not belong to Palestinian private owners. Because there was never a sovereign Palestinian Arab state, this state land cannot be said to have ever have been "Palestinian owned."

I don't see how anybody can argue against the Palestinians deserving their own state. After all, they have sent so many suicide bombers into Israel and blew up buses, killing women and children. I mean just think for a moment about how they rain rockets randomly into Israel trying to kill more and more women and children. Aren't these the type of people that deserve their own state? Isn't this exactly what the world needs, another terrorist state?

Isn't it interesting how President Obama will usually be the first to tell us that something isn't our business and we shouldn't be involved........well......until it involves establishing another terrorist state....then we are all up in that....(rolls eyes)

Intolerance is written in every doctrine. That is why doctrines, in general, suck.

Your own doctrine is total intolerance of Islam. That is why you are unable to see Muslims as people, instead you see them as automatons with a single purpose; interestingly enough, exactly as you are, in opposition to them. You are yourself indulging in subterfuge, lying about the fact that their texts are a lot more than just opposition. They would have been unable to build a global civilization if it was as you cliam.

All religions are self-contradictory. Hell-fire and brimstone, as well as love and universal brotherhood can be found in all of them. Hinduism, for example, preaches both apartheid and love.

I TOTALLY agree with the president. I mean, somebody's got to get those beachfront properties on the lake of fire and brimstone. Who better than the Palestinians to occupy those residences? There could be a cute little piece of land in the middle of the lake called Islamic Island right next to the al-Qaeda All-inclusive Pleasure Cove. The way to get there is on the Hamas Highway. Of course, your mail is full of infidel invites to keep them company with fresh, new faces. Could you imagine the view from Mount Mohammed? Every day, you can enjoy the Sunni sunrise and the Shiite sunset. Wow, to live in such a 'state'. I wonder how that would be? Both sides are looters, stealing value that producers in our society create, and redistribute it to those that don't.

Neither side are looters. This whole idea of politicians being looters or all corrupt is stupid. It is rooted in complete lack of understanding that the money that we give to the government is used to provide us security and services.

Now, you can argue that the distribution of resources is done improperly. You can argue that the cost of some services is too high and that parts of government are inefficient.

But if you want to argue that the government should not exist at all, then you are welcome to find one of those libertarian paradises in Africa with no government and 0% taxes and put us all out of your misery.

A few examples.

ACA-created to force everyone to buy insurance. It was written by insurance and drug companies for their benefit, not ours. Health insurance does not equate to health. It did nothing to force them to control costs. Health care does not create value, it is maintenance of society, yet drug companies and health insurance companies are sure getting rich off of it. I am not healthier for it, I simply must give it to them. Looting

Wall Street-The buying and selling of stocks, manipulating markets that were once a real investment vehicle for those that thought this company or that company would do well. Wall Street does not create value, the companies listed do. And how many get exponentially wealthy not lifting a finger looting off their backs.

How about the welfare state. We gave a trillion dollars in welfare and healthcare for welfare last year. Just because the masses can vote themselves money from the treasury does not make it right. Looters.

Obama appeals to Israelis: Give justice to the Palestinians

Hmmmm,

Hey Barrack Hussein, and just who have the “Palestinians” given justice to?

Here’s a simple little quiz for all you Palestine/Terrorist lovers.

1. When was the country of “Palestine” founded, and by whom?

2. What were its borders?

3. What was its Capital?

4. What were its major cities?

5. Name at least one “Palestinian leader” before Arafat (who was Egyptian).

6. What was the language of the “country of Palestine”?

7. What was the prevalent religion of the “ancient country of Palestine”.

8. What was the name of its currency?

9. Choose any date in history and tell what was the approximate exchange rate of the “Palestinian” monetary unit against the US Dollar, German Mark, British Pound, Japanese Yen or Chinese Yuan on that date.

10. Since there is no such country of “Palestine” today, what caused its demise, when did it occur and who conquered it?

11. Why did the “Palestinians” never try to become independent until after the devastating defeat of invading Arab states in the 1967 Six Day War?

Anyone able to answer ANY of the above questions will receive the Barrack Hussein Award for creative and imaginative propaganda.

In response to KC Bones and RedVirginia

Between the Babylonians, the Romans, and the Muslims, the Jews have been robbed of their most holy sites for nearly two thousand years. The Temple Mount in old Jerusalem is the site where God gathered dust to create Adam. It is the site of Abraham's binding of Isaac and the location of two Jewish temples. It is the Muslims who desecrated the site with the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock after their typically violent and murderous conquest of Jerusalem in 637 AD.

So, Israel has decided to take-out 1400 years of hatred including their hatred of the Nazis on a people who didn't deserve it? Funny how you omit older history, which says that Israel was a populated place when the Jews crossed the Red Sea coming from Egypt. What happened to those people?

So the Palestinians are terrorists? You know what? The Israelis are too. There is plenty of proof that the founders of Israel engaged in terrorist activities against the British and against the Palestinians before the UN, in their ultimate stupidity, gave the Jews land without being able to defend the land that they gave to the Palestinians. If Czechoslovakia hadn't donated a bunch of surplus Word War II arms to the Jews we might not have had this problem either.

Remember the King David Hotel incident? Was that a terrorist action? It was just one of dozens of actions by members of the Jewish Irgun and Stern gangs that killed both British and Palestinian citizens in the years leading-up to 1947. You talk about how many Jews lived in Israel before the 1947 UN Partition, and there are figures that your own government admits to that show in the late 1800s, immediately after World War I, and again in the 1930s that the number of Palestinians outnumbered the number of Jews by anywhere from 8-1 to 4-1, after the British government tolerated several decades of illegal Jewish immigration in addition to the allowed legal quotas. Even in 1947 there were more than twice as many Palestinians as there were Jews, after 10 more years of massive illegal Jewish immigration, so why should Israel have been given more than 1/3rd of the total land?

Actually, given the amount of land and property that the Jews in Palestine owned in 1945 the amount of land given to the creation of a Jewish state by UN and the British government was extremely generous. Tell me why Israel should have had any of the land in the southern part of the country, as there was no Jewish ownership of land there? Tell me why over a half-million Palestinians were ethnically-cleansed and driven from their homes by Jewish troops, homes and land that they had owned for hundreds of years, land that was not included in the UN Mandate? You don't view that as a genocidal action?

Remember the Jaffa Massacre, or the Lydda Massacre, in both cases where Palestinian civilians routed from their homes, their property was stolen, women and children were raped, and men and boys were murdered by the bus load by Jewish troops? Tell me how those actions were any different than what the Nazi's did to the Jews at Kiev? How about the Tantara Massacre or any of a several dozen other massacres of Palestinian civilians on land that was given to them by the UN Mandate? What the founders of Israel did was terrorism and then genocide. All of your early leaders are guilty. They were all wanted for war crimes trials at the Hague. Should the Palestinians have the right to want to fight back, and try to reclaim their homeland, which was also promised to them by the Balfour Declaration as well as numerous times by the British government since then?

http://www.australiansforpalestine.net/history/massacres

How about we talk about the 1937 Peel Commission report, where the Jews agreed to a State considerably smaller than the one given to the creation of Israel in 1947? Where does it say anywhere that Jerusalem was supposed to be a Jewish city? In both the 1937 and 1947 partition plans, as well as in the 1938 plan that the Palestinians agreed to, Jerusalem was supposed to continue under UN oversight, in order to be fair to both sides.

Here is a link to the full Peel Commission report. It does load pretty slowly. Pay attention to the maps at the end of the document, as they show what the Jews agreed to in 1937, as well as what the Palestinians countered with in 1938. The two sides weren't that far apart either.

http://unispal.un.org/pdfs/Cmd5479.pdf

Here is the ancient history that you so conveniently forgot to mention about Palestine and Israel:

Palestine was known in ancient history as the Land of Canaan. When Abraham migrated to the Land of Canaan it was a well-developed country. The Philistines entered the Land of Canaan from Crete about 1250 B.C. and settled in the coastal areas. They established five kingdoms, Gaza, Ashkelon, Ashdod, Gath and Ekron. They were the people who gave Palestine its name, and the Land of Canaan since Roman times has been known as Palestine.

About 1100 B.C. Israelite tribes entered the Land of Canaan at Jericho. They conquered a part of the Land of Canaan and established a kingdom in Judea about 1000 B.C. About 935 B.C. the kingdom was divided into the Kingdom of Israel in the north and the Kingdom of Judah in the south. About 725 B.C. the Kingdom of Israel was conquered and many Israelites were taken to Babylonia. About 600 B.C. the Kingdom of Judah was conquered by the Babylonians. The Israelite tribes were either exiled to Babylonia or were absorbed by the Canaanites. This means that Israelite rule over a part of Palestine lasted only about 400 years, during which time the majority of the population were Canaanite and mixed Canaanite-Israelite. Many of the Israelite kings of the two kingdoms followed Canaanite religions.

The Greeks conquered and ruled the Land of Canaan from 330 B.C. until 70 B.C. The Romans conquered and ruled the country from 63 B.C. until 614 A.D. Jesus Christ was born and Christianity spread in the country. Many Jews in Palestine became Christians. Many of the apostles were Jews.

As a result of strife between Jews and Christians many Jews left Palestine for neighboring countries. The Arabs conquered Palestine in 638 A.D. and exercised a profound influence on the country. The indigenous population of Palestine at that time adopted the Arabic language and many became Muslims. Arab rule over Palestine lasted from 638 to 1517 A.D., except for a brief period of Crusader rule. The Ottoman Turks ruled Palestine from 1517 until 1918, during which time the indigenous population of Palestine remained Arabic in language and culture.

Quoted from Australians for Palestine
http://www.australiansforpalestine.net/history/pre-1948

Here is the problem:

The Jewish founders of Israel were guilty of terrorism and genocide. They ethnically-cleansed between 500,000 and 700,000 Palestinian civilians off of land that had been promised to them, murdering 10,000 non-combatants in the process, with another 30,000 to 40,000 dying in forced marches without food or water in 100-degree heat. Every allegedly "terrorist" action that has been directed at Israel since then is in direct response to this unaddressed genocide.

http://www.palestineremembered.com/Acre/Palestine-Remembered/Story725.html

There is no other way to look at it.

Yes, President Obama was quite right to re-affirm the goal of the re-creation of a Palestinian State, and he needs to be commended for taking a strong stance in-support of the Palestinian cause. Israel needs to be very certain that their continuing US support is conditional on making serious progress on the establishment of a Palestinian State, which must include an end to settlement building in occupied territory and may have to include some givebacks of Israeli land to the creation of a Palestinian State too, in order to ensure that such a state is viable. Farmland and defensibility is key.

You Jews love to say that the UN gave you an undefensible State.

You need to give the Palestinians back some land in order for their Statehood aspirations to be viable, otherwise there will not be peace.

How about return to the 1947 UN boundaries, or even the 1967 boundaries? You want peace in Israel? How badly do you want it?

Or does the Israeli military-industrial complex need this now 65 year old conflict to continue in order to justify its continuing existence at current funding levels?

I'm one American who is fully in-favor of cutting Israel off completely until this issue is resolved. I vote Democrat too. I am a White middle-aged American who is sick and tired of this ongoing genocide, sick and tired of the fact that my tax dollars are used to fund it, and it is way past time for the entire rest of the world to impose a just solution if we are unwilling to.

In 1914 the Muslims declared jihad against the west (again - wasn't the first time in history) then joined the Germans in WWI - Muslim extremism is nothing new. That was the final nail in the coffin and ended centuries of Ottoman oppression... Please, really how can you make a prediction like that and keep a straight face.

1-he regularly attends church...Christian services, you nincompoops!!

2-remember all the fuss in 2008 about comments his MINISTER (of the United Church of Christ) Rev. Wright had made in his sermons?! Obama-haters were all too happy to accept his Christian identity back then, when they thought they had dirt they could use about his friendship with Rev. Wright.

3-He consistently says he is not a Muslim, but a Christian. Move on, folks, issue resolved.

Why do you IDIOTS think that because he has a non-traditional name and a black father that he is a Muslim? And why on earth does it MATTER? Oh, I know why it matters: because you IDIOTS are racist bigots who still can't get over the fact that a black man with a funny name won a presidential election...twice!! If you can stir up even more hate by constantly lying about his faith, maybe you'll win over some converts. You know what--just because you say it over and over, doesn't make it true. I am appalled that this nonsense over the President's religion and birthplace still persists, and I'm not Muslim either!

    he regularly attends church..

I may be wrong but I don't think Obama regularly attends church.

    Anyway, have a serious question:

At the podium why did Obama use the US Presidential Seal in Israel and did not use it in Palestine?

People not to take foreign policy advice from:

1.) Those who believe all Muslims are terrorists.

2.) Those who believe Obama is a Muslim (i.e. Black people with foreign names must be Muslims).

3.) Those who believe that Obama is simultaneously an extremist Muslim and extremist Christian (some people need to get their story straight).

4.) People who believe in theories that have been debunked by an overwhelming number of facts (the Barry Soetero conspiracy theory, the birther conspiracy, etc.)

5.) Anyone who believes that only one side is at fault or "the bad guy" in this conflict. (Israeli's aren't the only ones encroaching on other's land, Palestinians aren't the only ones who have used bombs and terrorists tactics).

So, if you follow this advice -- about 90% of the comments on here are not worth reading.

Jim: first of all, palestinians are SEMITES. from the same semitic tribe as those who call themselves jews. They were citizens of Palestine, who's name was CHANGED to Israel. They had legal deeds to homes and farms till 1946 when they had been cast from their homes by two terror groups. the Irgun and Stern Gang. Their currency was English because it was an english possession till 1946. The Gov. of Jordan gave the people the "west bank of Jordan" be cause they had no place else to go. (NOTICE THIS LAND IS EAST OF ISRAEL). Israel want's it. legally, only Jordan can claim this land unless the world gives the palestinians what EVERYBODY ELSE HAS.

the SAME ARGUMENTS CAN BE MADE ABOUT THE JEWS. most of them migrated from Europe after WW2. This is no more "their' home land than anybody else's.

But instead arguing with you, i will say this. if even ONE people are denied the right to exist, then NOBODY has the right to exist. your hatred, your misinformation, and your blindness to reality have been taught to you by people in the media and your party. enlighten yourself, try to live the principles you claim to endear. George PaulJohn:

You need to go back further than 1948. Despite what you want to believe. Palestinian Jews ( now called Israeli jews) were always there. They did not migrate from Europe. So for you to think the land just belonged to the muslims that lived in the area is wrong. Furthermore when Britain handed over the land to the Arabs ( in what became the Jordan Territory), they set aside a little bit of the land for the Jews as well. That land iswhat was known as Israel today. The Palestinians could have moved into the Jordan Territory, but they refused. And the arab muslims living in the Jordan Territory drove the Jews that were living there, out. So they went to Israel too.

Those who believe Obama is a Muslim (i.e. Black people with foreign names must be Muslims).

Siobhan: According to you, Obama is not a muslim. However, according to everyone else, Obama is heavily influenced by muslim traditions. Not at all what a christian would think like.

So for that reason, and that reason alone, most people still think he is muslim. It is no different. Just like many people can tell that a person is not a christian even though they say they go to church. Your attitude shows a lot more to people than you think it does. We know Obama is lying.

To you IDIOTS (yes, I am resorting to name-calling, but I'm calling a spade a spade, so to speak) who insist that President Obama is a Muslim and want PROOF that he is NOT:

Supper65: Since what has Obama done for christians in need? Those that are suffering in other countries. He has supplied their torturers with free aid all in the name of promoting islamic unity. Where has he stepped in to help the christians in Egypt, those in Iran, those in Pakistan? All he's been doing is sending his MUSLIM brothers aid, while he continues to put up the act of a christian in the US. Anyone can see that.

Half of the things he stands for are in direct violation of biblical teachings. I thought you said he was a christian(hahah)? Maybe you are fooled and he really is the antichrist, afterall it has always been said that people's minds would be closed to the truth.

JoAnn, there are only two possible answers.

        1. The incompetent crew forgot the Seal in Israel. Hell, they can’t even remember what type of fuel to put in the “Beast”.

        2. Barrack Hussein is a coward. He didn’t want to “offend” his brethren. Remember his famous quote, “I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.”

Of course the unwashed masses still believe he’s a “Christian”.

Let the Palestinians put themselves in Israeli shoes! Israel doesnt bomb them every day!

Palestinians can go back to their countries of origin.....oh thats right, they dont want them back either, so its now Israel's problem? Palestinians dont want peace, they want to kill the Jews

and those children you talked to Barry, you know, the ones that walk up and torment Israeli soldiers are TAUGHT this by their parents! Hate breeds hate!

WITH LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL.

The very notion of a “Palestine”, having ancient attachments to the Holy Land going back to time immemorial is one of the biggest hoaxes ever perpetrated upon the world. There is not, nor has there ever been, a distinct “Palestinian” culture, language, capital, currency or any list of leadership.

You may as well try to convince me there is a Lost Continent of Atlantis.

There was never a serious Arab-Palestinian national movement until 1964…three years BEFORE the Arabs of “Palestine” lost the West Bank (Judea and Samaria) and Gaza as a result of the 1967 Six Day’s War, which remember, the Arabs started.

Israel first became a nation in 1312 B.C., two thousand years before the rise of Islam! In 586 B.C., these first ancient Jews in the land of Israel (Judea) were overrun and Israel’s First Jewish Temple (Solomon’s Temple) on Jerusalem’s Old City Temple Mount was destroyed by Nebuchadnezzar. Many of the Jews were killed, enslaved or expelled, however many were allowed to remain. These Jews, over the next 500 years, rebuilt the Nation of Israel and also a Second Temple in Jerusalem on the same site as Solomon’s Temple. Thus, the claim that Jews suddenly appeared 67 years ago, right after the Holocaust, and drove out the Arabs is revisionist nonsense!

In 70 A.D. it was the Roman Empire’s turn to march through ancient Judea (Israel), and destroy the Second Jewish Temple, slaughtering or driving out much of the Jews. The Romans, without success, had tried to impose their many deities on the Jews, and they were certainly unwilling to regard a Roman Emperor as a divine being.

After multiple uprisings against Roman rule, in which over one and a half million Jews were killed, enslaved or driven out of their homeland, the Roman Procurator in charge of the area called in his scribes, he asked the historians who had been the worst enemies of the Jews in past history. They told him it was the “Philistines.” He then ordered all maps altered to reflect that the Land of Israel (Judea) would be labeled “Philistia”, which was further bastardized into Palaistina, to dishonor the Jews and attempt to obliterate them.

The name “Palestine” was invented. Of course Muhammad used this invented name to be used for his invented religion over 1,800 years later to try and steal the Jewish homeland.

In 636 A.D. when Muhammad and his Arab murderers came to the land, they did not establish any Arab nation there, let alone a Palestinian nation. They were simply Arabs who moved into a geo-political area called Palestine. It was NOT the Jews who “usurped” the land from the Arabs, as many love to propagandize. It was the Arabs who overran the Jews.

Remember, The Dome of the Rock Mosque was built atop the ruins of the second Jewish Temple, NOT VICE VERSA!

For 3,250 years multiple people, religions and empires marched through Jerusalem established by King David. That region has been ruled by Jews, Assyrians, Babylonians, Persians, Greeks, Maccabeans, Romans, Byzantines, Arabs, Egyptians, the Crusades, Mamelukes, Turks and finally, once again, the Jews in 1948. None of these people ever did, or were even inclined to, build a nation of their own, except the Jews!

The Jews have the most legitimate “birth certificate” of any nation in the world. No nation has fought against so many enemies and empires as the Jewish people. Every archaeological dig in Israel unearths more and more proof that Jews have had a presence there for over 3,000 years.

No nation, other than ancient Israel and again in 1948 with the rebirth of the 2nd Nation of Israel, has ever ruled as a sovereign nation on this land. The Arabs and their newly invented religion of Islam only appeared in the 7th Century A.D.

I have no hate, misinformation or blindness to reality. I only have facts, something you Libbies don’t believe in. Your parochial history lesson is an obvious result of your education in our criminal government run Public School system.

As far as your claim that, “if even ONE people are denied the right to exist, then NOBODY has the right to exist”.

You’re right. The problem is, the Jews have over 3,000 years of legitimacy to Israel. You, nor anyone else, cannot deny that.

If the “Arabs” and their “Arab Spring” are serious, there are millions of square miles of land around Israel in Syria, Jordan, Egypt, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and other “Muslim Brotherhood” nations that can just give the “Palestinians” some land to begin their “nation”. Islam is the “religion of peace” so it shouldn’t be difficult for these nations to pony up some land for “Palestine”.

Once again, I’ll ask you to take the quiz I posted above. You know it’s factual. Your hatred for Israel is understandable because of your indoctrination by a dysfunctional education system and YOUR parties the Liberal/Progressive complicit medias hatred for the “Zionists”.

Go away Spanky, you’re way out of your league in this history class.

Lol.. "everyone else"? Really? That alone pretty much tells me that you are literally making up whatever claims you are about make. But still, I'll even give you the benefit of the doubt. Which Muslim traditions does Barack Obama take part in? What evidence is there that Obama is Muslim and not Christian (or are you one of those people who asserts he is both?). Give me factual support for your claims.

The main evidence that Obama is not a Muslim is the fact that he 1.) asserts he is a Christian, 2.) has gone to Christian churches for much (if not all of his life), 3.) engages in Christian traditions.

But, of course, you have decided he is Muslim. And, you being the clear expert on Obama and his religious beliefs, should be listened to. Yup.

Look -- by your reasoning, I can claim you are Muslim. And even if you tell me you aren't and go to a Christian church and yada yada yada, as long as I assert "Nuh-unh, you're a Muslim!" that makes you a Muslim.

Obama toured a technology exhibition at the Israel Museum to have a look at cutting-edge products being developed in the country, including a potentially revolutionary battery that uses air and water to release energy stored in aluminum. The makers say it could power a car that would have to stop only for occasional water fill-ups.

Great. No more petroleum. Bauxite will be king.

Israel is such a tiny country and their enormous tech advancements are gifts to the world. Too bad Israel is not appreciated as it should be.

Tech development, the original idea was probably American. A long time ago to most of you, this country got the bright idea to think up something and not develop it, but to sell it to someone else and let them bear the expense of development. what a concept you also sell any jobs it creates and profit after development and marketing. The idea of a car that runs on water I heard of back in the 80s in an article with an American Scientist. The Liquid Screen on gameboys and such, American idea and partly developed and sold to the Japanese.

The energy industry has become the engine of the world. If anyone were ever able to come up with an idea to make it free, that engine would stall. Imagine how many peoples jobs would no longer be necessary. From every oil company and worker down to the gas station attendant, utility worker, country that derives its revenue from it, to every country that pegs its currency to a petro dollar, would be devastated.

I think we would be talking about a few billion people.

You asked about Israeli inventions helping us. Here are just a few:

The USB flash drive was invented by Dov Moran in 1998 in Israel at a company called M-Systems. IBM later manufactured it in the United States.

Before Twitter and Facebook, there was ICQ. This early instant-messaging program — aptly named “I seek you” — was developed by Yossi Vardi at Mirabilis Ltd. ICQ catapulted the popularity of instant messaging and was sold to AOL for more than $400 million.

Developed by Argo Medical Technologies of Israel, ReWalk is a light suit with motors at the joints, offering greater mobility to people with spinal injuries or diseases. Users choose a motion — standing, sitting, or taking steps — by remote control.

Technology that can open a computer file and send it directly to a printer was developed by Tel Aviv-based Indigo in the 1990s, allowing companies to print without blocks and plates. Hewlett-Packard acquired Indigo for $720 million.

Copaxone, a revolutionary drug treatment for multiple sclerosis, was the first Israeli drug approved by the FDA, in 1996. The drug was developed by Michael Sela at the Weizmann Institute of Science, Rehovot, and is manufactured by Teva Pharmaceuticals.

IsightTec, a company based in Haifa, has developed ExAblate, a system that ultrasounds the body and thermally eliminates certain types of tumors, providing treatment in a noninvasive manner. The FDA approved the technology in 2004.

Seems everyone is related to Mr. Obama (Treyvon Martin).

The purpose of this trip is for what ? Mr. Obama just pulled out information from his previous campaign speeches.

But...."It is great to get away from Congress"....said Mr. Obama.

At least the Israel folks didn't throw any tomatoes at Mr. Obama.

Where have you been? It's not Israel that can't figure out PEACE, it's their psycho neighbors that don't want PEACE.

Yes...they suffer from the same problem we do. We have a small number of psychos who refuse to allow anything to get done in our country, too. Most Israelis and Palestinians figured out peace a long time ago. There's a small faction on both sides that keeps shooting and making sure that tensions are always escalated.

How did Obama get so many of the Jewish religion to vote for him in 2012? He clearly has no respect for Israel, the borders, or of the Jewish and Israeli people. How in the U.S. they would elect a man that was so much against them both as a person and as a religion is beyond me.

But one other point Mr. Obama, if you are so supported of people being held down by a government and believe the people should have their own country I might support that if you would allow some of us to create OUR own country, with dedicated borders, here in the U.S. to get away from a United States government that is keeping us from succeeding. Keeping us from prospering.

I would like US to have a lively debate. I also believe it would be good. I want a place where those who actually believe in the Constitution and believe in smaller government can run our own country. You certainly would support that wouldn't you? Fairness to the people? We conservatives will pitch in and buy 20,000 acres somewhere (Montana, Wyoming, Texas, Florida, Tennessee, etc.) and develop our own economy. You give us dedicated borders. Isn't that fair? Isn't that what you are saying? Don't you want us to have opportunities? Away from the restrictive regulations, federal departments, and federal laws that restrict our ability to succeed?

I would expect you to support the rights of conservatives as much as you respect the rights of Palestinians.

In response to KC Bones and RedVirginia (#1.56 and 1.57)

By the way Reno, Israel is way ahead on tonnage of rockets fired at Palestine as well as on bombs dropped on Palestine too.

In fact, there ought to be a rule about firing or dropping that much more tonnage.

The Palestinian rockets carry less than the force of a World War II pineapple grenade, and Israel routinely responds with blockbuster munitions directed at apartment buildings.

There are always two sides to every story.

Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas has again denied Jerusalem's Jewish history and the existence of the Temple, referring to the "alleged Temple" in a statement this week.

The use of the term "alleged Temple" to deny Jewish history has been Palestinian Authority policy under Abbas for many years. Palestinian Media Watch has documented that the entire Palestinian Authority leadership and the structures under its control actively and repeatedly use the term "alleged Temple.""Alleged Temple" 97 times:

Palestinian Media Watch checked its archives and found that the official PA press reported the use of the expression "alleged Temple" at least 97 times by heads of the PA, its institutions and its media, just in 2011 and 2012. This number refers only to the use of this term. The PA has denied Jewish history in Israel and Jerusalem hundreds of times as part of its official policy, and has also fabricated an ancient Palestinian history in the land. Mahmoud Abbas himself in a speech that was read by his advisor on the eve of Israel's Independence Day, both denied Israel's history and falsely claimed the existence of a 9000 year-old Palestinian history, adding: "Netanyahu, you are incidental in history. We are the people of history. We are the owners of history." [PA TV (Fatah), May 14, 2011]

                PA leaders cite "alleged Temple"
The following is a partial list of PA officials, institutions, and others cited in the PA press who used the term "alleged Temple," some of them numerous times, in 2011and 2012

Pres. Obama just doesn't get the Middle East, and their relationships from beginning of time. There are peaceful Palestinians living in Israel!

There is no Negotiating with HAMAS the Terrorist Organization, Abbas, their Leader (HAMAS) nor their people---Palestinians born in Palestine, have a gun in their baby hands, and brainwashing throughout their entire childhood. It is the Palestinians who are going to have to change their violent ways.

The baby child who was paraded through the streets of Palestine, killed said it was the Israeli's; no ABC got it wrong. It was the Palestinians who killed this child with a rocket that went astray. It has now been documented. Blame everything on Israel.

Three Rockets flew into Israel 2 days ago. This is a daily occurence--They, with Iran want to wipe Israel off the face of the map---all of them---

What was this meeting with Netanyahu--there were rumblings he would come back and negate the lovely kumba ya meeting with Bibi---What does Netanyahu say. We all know what he is thinking but is gracious in his welcoming.

"It will come home to Roost", as the Rev. Wright said, when arriving in the US, back to placating the Extreme Terrorists, Muslim World---How's Morsi doing with all his money?

I don't trust them, and I have difficulty trying to understand why Obama would after what he has experienced with the radical element of Islam, its as if he is incapable of learning. the radical part of the Palestinians already said they wanted it all I don't see compromise in that attitude, Israel gave them to large areas one on the West bank, and another on the Gaza strip and instead of governing themselves and living in peace they use the land as a staging point for attacks on Israel, that's not peace, they lost some land due to their violence, these people are not capable of running a Camel daycare let alone a Nation of misfits and murderers, they talk of peace while they plan destruction. some Palestinians are fine people but their radical brothers will even go as far as to use their children for human Shields and constantly attack Israel, as long as those psycho's run around killing both Palestinians and Jews or who ever happens to be in the way there can be no peace. if you bought a thousand sq miles of desert from Egypt and brought in irrigation made the land suitable for living and prospering on taught them to farm the sea and build them Islands to go with the land they would still continue to fight. when the extremist finish with one enemy they just focus on the next and that is any one that does not think their brand of Islam, Obama needs to learn that he had a Muslim upbringing he should know the way.

@John, Arab's and Muslims copied and learnt from Indians when it comes to both Astronomy and Mathematics. India is the mother of Astronomy and Mathematics both.

Indians figured out that earth was round, that it went around sun way before Copernicus. Indians also measured earth's circumference almost 99% or better correctly. What we call pythagorus theorem is also Indian. Calculus is Indian. Additive identity i.e. zero is Indian. Number system is Indian. Indians measured the time for earth to go round the sun absolutely accurately. They measured pi to nth degree. The list just goes on ..

If you look at Arabs and Muslims - they too have contributed heavily to science culture and civilization. And I won't get into the political debate. But as far as Astronomy and Math is concerned - it is hands down Indian sciences.

George Paulson: Since you ask about the technological contributions from Israel that have helped us be aware that: Israel devotes 4.8% of GDP to R&D-more than any other country in the world, in recent years 4 Jews have won Nobel Prizes in Chemistry and Economics. The Israeli business sector offers innovations in many areas such as: Life Sciences where they are 4th in the world in biotechnology patents per capita, 3rd in the world for technological readiness, 2nd in the world for venture capital start-up and 1st in the world for availability of qualified scientists and engineers. Israel excels in developing new water technologies, global communication, homeland security, the semiconductor industry and agri-technology. Of course, George, you have probably never heard of cell phones or computers or security systems and certainly you wouldn't be concerned about water quality or decent food, not to mention the polio vaccine and other medical advances that have come out of Israel or from Jews. The world would be a much less pleasant and poorer place without the contributions of Israeli/Jewish research and technology so a little gratitude is in order.

Do you want to know why there can be no peace ?

It's as simple as the article's quote:

then we’re never going to get to the broader issue, which is how you actually structure a state of Palestine that is sovereign and contiguous," the president said.

                The issues are -

                1. The term "contiguous". Just LOOk at a map of Israel and imagine a "contiguous" Palestinian state which encompasses Gaza, West Bank, and Jerusalem. You will SEE that it is impossible.

                2. The trickery: Everyone (except the actual players in the region) say that this is completely about "land". Not so. The Palestinian demands are a) land (meaning pre-'67 borders); b) RIGHT of RETURN; c) reparations.

Thus, Israel is to give all land back, (without getting "peace") and THEN the other preconditions are first then addressed.

Kinda like Obama's position that the Republicans give the Dems everything the Dems want, and only THEN, do the Dems "talk" about what the Repubs want.

You said:The Palestinian rockets carry less than the force of a World War II pineapple grenade, and Israel routinely responds with blockbuster munitions directed at apartment buildings.

So because Palestine has smaller rockets Israel should just ignore them ? Or should they put away their blockbusters and just use sling shots ? The purpose of fighting back with more power is to get them to stop!! They have held back long enough,Palestine and the extremists want the Jews Dead All of them and use their own people as shields then scream when they get killed and act like it was out of the blue...Even if their rockets are smaller they still kill just as dead.

How can Odumbo claim to be Israels life long bud one day, they say the Palestinians deserve a state the next, unless said state is on another planet. I don't think Israel will be too accommodating to them, nor should they be. Odumbo is either evil or one stupid SOB, take your pick.

I think probusiness was right on the money to compare the radical extremists in the middle east to the radical extremists here at home. There are a lot of similarities, aren't there? For starters, both are far more interested in their bibles and their guns than in getting along with their neighbors...

Palestinians born in Palestine, have a gun in their baby hands,

Whoa, take it easy, hotshot. Let's not get carried away with our desire to kill children. Besides, you're wrong. There are tons of Palestinians who, despite suffering personal tragedies, not only accept the validity of Israel, but argue for peace with them. You just haven't read some of the basic texts.

Just read Izzeldin Abuelaish's "I shall not hate". Not every Palestinian is a bogeyman out to get Israel. But Israel sometimes makes them bogeymen so they can build settlements in the West Bank.

Obama is asking for two states--Israel doesn't have to give up any territory for that.

John, that's progress... something will eventually take the place of the energy sources we now have... and the current jobs will be irrelevant... just like once upon a time there were many many people in the livestock, carraige and buggy whip making businesses to support transportation... who ended up making cars...

Could be fusion... could be dark matter... rest assured those new industries will also need people to build and run them....

There are people here who absolutely depend on a continuous conflict so that their fundamentalist ideologies can survive. That goes for both sides.

One thing we can be sure of: the people that won't accept peace will never accept that their side plays a part in continuing the violence.

                Your quote:

-Israel doesn't have to give up any territory for that.

vs. the Obama quote in the article:

then we’re never going to get to the broader issue, which is how you actually structure a state of Palestine that is sovereign and contiguous," the president said.

NOW - please look at a map of Israel, and TELL us....how can the Palestinian state "contiguous" between Gaza, West Bank, and Jerusalem NOT result in Israel giving up territory ? The two positions are mutually exclusive - a PHYSICAL and GEOGRAPHICAL impossibility.

                Please educate me, Strato.

Israel has given much of it's Territory to the Palestinians!!! More and More--under the charge of past Presidents, to what seemingly what would make a Peace Agreement. Who would fire the first rocket/bomb?

What did the Palestinians do to all the Settlements in the Gaza Strip?--They tore them down!!! Housing for their poor, and uneducated. Palestine, the great place, where they want to keep their citizens down in poverty, knowing nothing more than killing, fighting, and hating the Jews---that's all.

HAMAS has done a great job; they also running the Palestinian Government with AK rifles at the head of Abbas--he a sympathizer, like Karzai in Afghanistan.

All babies born, are taught from day 1 to kill, and torture Israeli's; the Jews---as someone has said here, they use their own children as Human Shields--wonderful group---the Israeli's/Jews believe in life, and life is a Miracle---thus, cherishing the will to live---The Extremists cherish the KORAN, killing, suicides, torturing anyone who disagrees with this ever growing Religion in the entire World.

One day they will rule the World with their Religion---Who will fight them?

Oldtimer -- the U.N. created the Country of Israel. The Israelis settled the barren land, fought wars to keep their Country.

I really don't believe that neither Israel nor the people of Palestine "trust" O'Bama. They were kind but will be glad when he leaves. Once again, O'Bamagives passionate substance free speeches and likes to tell others how they should run their countries. This advice coming from a so-called leader who is destroying his own country. When the Palestinian people rid themselves of the terrorist group Hamas, there can be peace. When Hamas stops sending rockets into Israel, there can be peace. Israel should not return any land won in battle back to those they defeated. They should not give anything to those that call for its destruction.

Here is your 1947 UN Partition map, just in-case you haven't seen it before.

                  http://mideastweb.org/un_palestine_partition_map_1947.htm

How about giving back all of the land attached to Gaza shaded in tan?

As well as most of the land shaded in tan in the West Bank and in northern Israel too?

Say, what is that white area around Jerusalem anyway?

How about going to the end of this web page about the Peel partitions and see what the Jews agreed to in 1937 (Plan A), and what the Palestinians agreed to (Plan B).

                  http://www.mideastweb.org/peelmaps.htm

Why do you Israelis think that you should own any more of Palestine than the UN Mandate gave you, and why do you think that US taxpayers should continue to fund your now 65-year genocide?

Oh, and by the way, it is the Republicans that are guilty of trying to destroy the America where I grew-up, in-fact they have been guilty of it ever since Ronald Reagan and even Jerry Ford were in office. Remember the Arab Oil Embargo? Whose fault was that? Nixon? We should have let Israel go then, as it would have been a whole lot less-expensive for the average American.

We have talked peace in Israel for over 50 years that I know of, and every time that we get close, Israel adds more conditions, or they try to get revenge one last time. If the Palestinians had been able to respond in-kind, most of Israel would have been reduced to dust long-ago too. Why do you Israelis think that you can keep getting away with what you have done?

I wonder if it is only me who is sick of all this "anti-semite" label whenever anybody talks about peace with Palestinians? I mean everybody knows Palestinians or Muslims are no saints. But that shouldn't mean they live like animals. So what's wrong in saying Palestinians deserve a state provided they do A B C ... ? Put some conditions and work towards it. It looks to me Arafat was doing ok and then he was assasinated. Same happens on the israeli side ... whoever tries to make peace dies suddenly. That's why all these pro gun nuts need to look at guns and war profiteering from a different angle. While guns may be preserving your freedom .... it is creating violence the world over because nobody forces these war companies to keep track of who they sell what.

The Jews and Arabs have hated each other for almost 4000 years. They have the same father (Abraham). It's a fascinating historical and biblical event of hatred. Obama will have no effect on a 4000 year old issue. One is foolish to believe otherwise and Obama is a fool to believe he has that kind of power of persuasion or even the right to pontificate to the two nations of people. He is wrong in meddling. It's a family issue.

Just another world tour for Obama. He will demand Israel make peace with the Arab/Islamic nations and for sure not to protect themselves against Iran. Peace for Israel only means giving up more land and as Obama does, bow down to Muslims. Keep those fences up Israel, let Obama talk to Jordan about giving up some of their land to these Palestinians, they got more than enough land. I compare the Palestinian people to Mexico which continue to populate the U.S. These people are good at wanting what other countries have as their land is a piece of #%#$. Kick this idiot out of your holy land. Shun him as he has been doing to you for years. Don't believe a word he says as his words are meaningless. The first thing Israel should do is get rid of the Dome on the Rock as allowing these Muslims to erect this dome gained Israel nothing. The Rock would then be free for everyone to visit. This land is holy and I support Israel completely. Stay strong and don't give up one inch more of your land. Obama is definitely not looking out for your best interests, the people of the United States are but their voice is being ignored since he has been in office

I had some sympathy for the Palestinian cause until witnessing the failure of the Camp David peace talks in 2000. It was evident that the Palestinian people would reject any peace under any circumstances. They were not interested in even hearing any offer the Israelis made.

It is foolish to think that peace can be had against the will of the Palestinian people. Let's move on to other pursuits. If the Palestinians ever decide to change their outlook, we can revisit the issue then.

"The Palestinian rockets carry less than the force of a World War II pineapple grenade, and Israel routinely responds with blockbuster munitions directed at apartment buildings."

As Ster points out (post 2.41) (and I’ll paraphrase) - what you’re suggesting (because Israel’s weaponry is superior), that a man can assault me on the street with a knife. I am in poissession of BOTH a knife and a gun. YOU would have me drop the gun and fight with the knife (because it wouldnt be “fair” to use my superior weaponry.
                            This is foolishness.

                            Further, your post 2.59's quote:

                            Jeff

So you are OK with Israeli troops firing automatic weapons and killing Palestinian kids that are throwing rocks?

Here is a very correct analogy that shows the difference between the Palestinian missiles fired at Israel and the ones that Israel fires back:

The Palestinian missiles are a lot like shooting bb guns, and the Israeli response is like shooting a 155-mm anti-tank weapon in-response.

The warhead on a Palestinian missile can put a dent in your car, and it can also put a small hole in your roof, whereas the warhead on an Israeli missile can destroy an entire city block.

I also found recent scientific evidence yesterday that the IDF is guilty of grossly overstating Israeli deaths, injuries, and the damage inflicted by Palestinian missiles too.

                            http://mondoweiss.net/2012/11/dissecting-idf-propaganda-the-numbers-behind-the-rocket-attacks.html

Here is typical damage when a Palestinian missile actually hits something. Note that it didn't even knock the picture off the wall or break glass on the counter either.

                            http://www.corbisimages.com/stock-photo/rights-managed/42-37921172/disrael-kills-four-gaza-militants-after-rocket?popup=1

Here is typical Palestinian damage when Israel retaliates. Remember that the Palestinian missiles are not guided missiles, and that they are only slightly larger than Estes model rockets, but the Israeli missiles are modern first-world missile technology that have a targeting accuracy rate measured in feet, so this strike was completely intentional too.

                            http://www.demotix.com/news/1629475/gaza-after-israeli-airstrikes#media-1629283

Here is another interesting piece. Does Israel actually encourage Palestinian rocket attacks?

                            http://www.sott.net/article/253631-Israel-Encourages-Palestinian-Rocket-Attacks

Like I said, there are two sides to every story.

Treating Mahmoud Abbas like some kind of a 'statesman' is beyond stupid. The Palestinians never had their own state. They are squatting on Israeli land. Obama should go and play golf.

Since 1948. That land was originallly owned by Britain. British gave up land 80% to Arabs( Jordan Territory) and decided the other 20% should be given to Israel. Bottom line, Palestian JEWS have always lived in that land along with the Muslims.

Now those Palestinian Jews are called ISRAELI jews.

It's kind of funny, a number of people claim that Palestinians want to commit genocide, that they want to kill off all the Jews. As evidence for this desire, they cite the claim that Palestinians deny the right of Israel to exist.

But they also refuse to accept the Palestinians as a people. By your own logic, you also want genocide.

I only asked for evidence to prove that the Palestinians are squatting on Israeli land, which you failed to provide.

Byron - nope, you are confused. The argument that some Palestinians want genocide comes from the numerous public threats made by Arab political officials to wipe Israel off the map.

There is another argument that peace can be achieved through a two-state nation. That is negated because neither side is willing to recognize the other's right to exist.

Superskunk - you may Wikipedia the '67 war for the evidence you seek.

Mr Obama is asking to be rational to a group that is incapable of rational thought, and will turn right around and stab them in the back, again!

The problem with your post (3.5) is that you ignore that the land that is presently called "Palestine" was, in fact, JORDAN (West Bank) and EGYPT (Gaza); thus, these "Palestinians" were , in fact, Jordanians and Egyptians.

When Israel won the land in '67, and neither Egypt nor Jordan wanted the land back, the inhabitants were ppl without a country and thus reverted back to "Palestinians", i.e., from "Palestine" which was the name of the region before the Britains took it from the Ottomans. How far back do you want to go ? At the turn of the century between C.E. and B.C.E., the land belonged to the Romans - Do you want to give it to Rome ? Or, before that, it was Israel's - you CERTAINLY dont want to give it back to THEM, right ? Or, do you want to go back even farther ? Let's find some Cannanites, Hittites, Emorites, Prizites, Jebosites, Girgashytes.

Jeff, those lands where all but empty until the Irgun and stern gang pushed the palestinians there. Jordan and Egypt gave those lands up because there where more palestinians living there than their own people. Nice try at slanting things though. Keep up the good work, netenyahoo and the devil love you man.

It's time to cut bait and go home. Since 1948, every US President has tried to help Israel and the Palestinians resolve their differences, but that's simply not going to happen. Let's put a full-court press on becoming energy independent and let them work it out with the UN. The foreign aid we've sent to both parties could be better spent here at home.

My guess is that Israel would be willing to sit with Pope Francis I to talk peace, but that the Palestinians would either refuse or demand total surrender of Israel as a precondition of the talks.

BTW, while my guess is just that, a guess, it is an educated guess based on recent history.

Mr. President please explain why the terrorist Palestinans need their own state? To continue killing Israelis is the only thing Palestinians want. I visited Israel a few years ago and the only time Israel responded to the Palestinians was after Israel or its citizens were attacked. My second day in Israel the Israeli army had to travel south because the Palestinians were firing rockets into southern Israel killing innocent Israelis. the day after my Jerusalem tour a Palestinian gunman entered a Jewish seminary in Jerusalem and opened fire killing 17 students. I am sorry but I don't support terrorist palestinians and no one else should listen to these Killers.

Actually Canaan was the land of the Hebrews (Jews), they were conquered by Egypt and went into slavery for them. Moses freed them and took all of the slaves....Hebrews back to their land Canaan. The Many Hebrew tribes lived in the area now known as Israel, in fact the Land of Canaan was much larger than Israel now days. Just some facts!!

First, accept the fact that you are an apologist. You use our actions as justification for the mass killing of CIVILIANS. No doubt you use the same justification for the killings of civilians in Israel. And DONT start that crap about more Palestinian civilians dying than Israeli civilians. First, Israel does not TARGET civilians - Islamic terror DOES.

Second, you'll say that Israel doesnt do enough to limit civilian casualties - yet you have NO problem with the civilian casualties the U.S. inflicts on Afghans and Iraquis. Collateral damages is ok with you, so long as Israel is not the one inflicting it.

Third - NO. The reason Islamic terror hit OUR soil is because it was not snuffed out in the 70's when the casualties were "only" Jews.

Ma'alot - where Islamic terrorists machine-gunned a KINDERGARTEN; Quiryat Shemonah, families.

Munich - as opposed to where CIVILIZED nations, for centuries, put wars on hold, in deference to the Olympic spirit.

                                            Take your apologist CRAP elsewhere.

Jeff, there is a huge difference when American troops push through a city or town, compared to Israeli troops. American troops cautiously enter a building to ascertain who may be inside. Israeli troops blow the building to smithereens, not caring who is inside. Usually it is women and children, which is a reason the casualty rates for them are so high.

Many Israeli soldiers expressed dismay at what they were required to do. Israel drops cluster bombs and uses white phosphorus. The Israelis have absolutely no empathy for others. If you are not a Jew, you deserve to be slaughtered.

Palestinian mortar fire is called rocket fire by Israel, implying that Hamas is using rockets, when in many, if not most cases, it is just mortar fire. The Palestinians have a lot of catching up to do, because the Israelis, using American made and supplied weapons, such as F16s, kill many, many more Palestinians.

America has to stop all aid to the parasitic demons called Zionists. They will suck our nation dry and then look for another host to bleed.

RalphH you speak with forked tongue. I've been there and your lies are not believable.

Hmmm Mr Obama has the option of playing golf or speaking to whom he wants, because he's President of one of the greatest countries in the world. By the way if Netanyahu felt that he could stop the urban violence by visting the Bloods, Crypts and Hell's Angels I'm all for it. I am sorry the people didn't elect you to represent the US, sounds like your accute grasp of foreign policy and forward thinking approach would really resolve the Isreali/Palestinian conflict--not that I think anyone really could, not even President Obama. Unfortunately, anyone in the POTUS position has to try to ensure the region stays somewhat stable.

I get all that. However, visiting Palestinians is something the Sec. of State should be doing. Not Obama. It totally takes away from his speech with Netanyahu. It was bad enough to begin with when the Israeli's were already quite aware of his latest antics. Such as giving military and financial aid to Israel's enemies. i.e. F-16's Helicopters, tank parts, and 1.5 billion $$ in cash to the Muslim Brotherhood in Eghypt. Then, sending that idiot Kerry to give the rebels in Syria 60 million $$ who are allied with Al-Qaeda who are just as bad as Assad. Then, he goes and visits the Palestinians as though they were actually credible and a country. Hamas in Gaza are nothing more than known terrorists to the international community and labeled as such even by us. The next thing you know, he'll want to visit them. While his intentions are good, his action are void of respect for the Israeli's to resolve their own problems.

J Chet, if you drop the stupidity in the first have of what you said you would get a lot more respect by just saying what you said in the end. the only sensible card you put on the table.

F-16s and helicopters going to egypt? No Helicopters and the F-16 is out dated 3-4 plane developments back. As long as Egypt keeps on doing what we are paying them to do they will continue to get our support. This is a deal the goes back to Bush/Cheney. It is in addition to a deal we had with Egypt that goes back further yet. As for Syrian Rebels, you do realize they are fighting Hamas? I don't see nothing wrong with some food, medical supplies and some bullits to help us out for when we go to Iran. ( hope not but think it is inevitable).

Farty Redhead, Big deal on the 50% poll. That doesn't meaan a thing they poll every single thing that the president does. Not a general over all. that was a poll taken on the President a bout Gun Controll. Heck they even got a poll on how well he shoot Basketball. Now a days the President can't even FART with some having some sort of rating poll on that. If all you do is follow Polls and drink Troll Aid this tells me you are a follower and want to be excepted by a group, any group. I don't follow groups I gather facts, asses the info, form a thought/opinion and follow my own path. If someone agrees with me that's fine, if they don't that is time for debating the issue. Debating with me can be pleasant or a heartbreaking experience, that is up to you and how you handle yourself. So Farty grow up and be a person on your own. You have a right not to be led around by your Nose Hairs, it says so in the Constitution.

                                              The BIGGEST question for me?????

Why did such a VAST MAJORITY of Jewish ppl vote for Obama once....AND THEN AGAIN IN 2012?

I thought Obama's treatment and attitude towards Israel would have an impact on the American Jewish voter. But I was wrong about that. Proof that the D party can do no wrong. What a bunch of sheep!

I am Jewish and American, I had to abstain from vote on the last election, because I was facing a choice form hell.

I disagree with republicans on almost everything, so the fact that they support Israel more than democrats do forces me too choose between my concern for the country I live in and my friends and family in Israel.

My friends and family were split almost evenly on that election.

Those who voted for Obama argued that all American presidents were always supporting Israel for a reason, and Obama will as well, even if he doesn't want to.

It turns out they were right, and I am glad they were right.

Eli- I think if Romney had run on his own platform that made economic sense he would have won. However that being said the Republican party believed he needed to tilt more to the right and thats what lost it for him.

After the President lied to America in the last Presidential debate about Benghazi there was no way I was going to vote for someone who lies and and believes we should accept a lie as the truth. Neither party truly represents the American people just the Corporations and special interest groups that line our politicians pockets. I am sorry to say this but nothing the President says is truthful. He told the American people that Obamacare is not a tax. The Supreme Court ruled Obamacare a tax and the justice said you have to be careful who you elect.

The solution in America is that the politicians should have the same social security, medicare and retirement as Americans have. Politicians should not be eligible for retirement unless they have served 20 years. I also believe that we should vote all politicians out of office after their 1st term unless they have done something great to improve our standard of living. Seems like Obama just wants to tax us to death. He is part of the problem.

But Palestine had nothing to do with 911? Also, I consider homemade bombs to be a lot less effective than drone strikes or air strikes.

It's not like the US won their freedom through peaceful protest. Just something to think about.

Larry, you may not like the Brotherhoods' form of Government, I really don't like what was done after they took over. It is, however, their Country and their Government and their Constitution. We do have a deal with Egypt that goes quite a ways back and as long as they are our friends and do honer the deal they will get our support. Egypt is not one of our enamies.

Killing innocent people that are no threat to you in their on country dose not make Mc Cain a hero. Decades have past and is in on the subject. The truth is known by the by the entire world. We were in Vietnam for the French along with banking and money interest. We had no right, morally, politically or otherwise to be there. Mc Cain thinks we should still be bombing.

Obama is not nearly as stupid or dumb as Bush, not even close.

You're comment is right about one thing, Bush did set the bar VERY high for Failure... Just look at his lemmings and their inability to 'connect' the dots of history.

                                                        Moderate in Madison,

I like how "libbies" are wrong to blame bad things on Bush (like a recession that started during his term.. that's somehow Obama's fault, apparently). But, whenever Obama does anything good, you give credit to Bush.

Actually, the oil production is related in part to how Obama handled the government and private permits.

You're right. During Bush's time was one of the first times it broke 14k. And nowadays not only has it broken 14k, but it has broken 14500 for the first time ever. Thus, this one area of the economy that has not only recovered but surpassed itself prior to the crash. Good job, Obama.

Bin Laden's dead: Give it a rest. Obama made the call. In the 8 years Bush had the opportunity, he instead shifted mosted of the focus to the Iraq War. When Obama first ran for president, he said he would shift focus away from the Iraq War, focus more on Afghanistan, and find Bin Laden. He has fulfilled every one of those promises.

Iraq War: see Above. Obama did exactly what he said he was going to do.

Unemployment: So, are you telling me that unemployment is suddenly calculated differently than it was in Bush's time? It's not. It's the exact same calculations. The unemployment rate is down to 7.7%. There are more people working now than were working at the end of 2008. 6 million jobs have been added in the past 3 years. All of this information can be find at the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

I'll also add some other accomplishments:

Investments in alternative energies. All the conservatives LOVE to bring up Solyndra. What's hilarious about that is the money that was slated to go toward various companies to help develop alternative technologies, 10% went to companies that failed. Do you know where the other 90% went? Companies that are turning profits. Funny how selective individuals are in the information they pass around.

                                                        Repeal of DADT.

                                                        Passed the Lily Ledbetter act.

Fought for and helped pass the Violence Against Women Act. Has made sure the programs under this act will be fully funded.

Pushed for legislation to regulate credit cards and banks from overcharging on fees, raising limits without advance notice, etc. so that people can stop getting screwed by these things.

Despite the myth that Obama is killing small business, he has pushed for and gotten tax cuts/tax credits for small businesses, expanded programs which give loans to those who start up small businesses, etc.

Has expanded benefits, help, and tax cuts for veterans.

Obamacare passed. (I'm sure you'll howl and whine about it, however Obamacare is one of the largest overhauls of the medical system that has been passed in a long time. You may not like it, but insofar as trying to reform the medical system, it is one of the biggest accomplishment in at least 30 years).

I could go on, but I don't have literally hours to recount the number of accomplishments that Obama has fought for and won.

You may not like Obama, that's fine. You may not agree with him on many things, that's fine. But, please just stop lying about what Obama has and hasn't done. The facts are out there -- educate yourself.

Yet all You Obama followers can't see that He is Bush on steroids ! He has increased the loss of Our liberties, and ran up more debt in 4 years than Bush did in 8 ??? Where is the outrage ?? And as far as Obama being smarter than Bush, do You realize Bush has a genius IQ ? You all say Obama is so smart, yet We've never even seen college transcripts ! He thought there was 52 states, real smart Guy ! I just feel it's pretty hypocritical to bash Bush, and not Obama, when He is simply Bush on steroids !

The American people have no government. This country is run by banks, wall street, insurance companies, and Israel. If we don't force real change these pigs will soon have us in depression and chaos.

Our big banks have been getting billions in 0% loans. They are using our own money to rape us by manipulating the commodities market. Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanly and one other control 80% of all oil trades. Meanwhile, our public owned corporations make record profits from cheap foreign labor and pay low to no taxes. Foreign banks are crammed with American cash.

It has been obvious that our government is owned for decades. If the people had representatives we would force our public owned corporations to pay our minimum wages wherever they go. this would show a little regard for workers and bring back many jobs fast. Instead, we give them special treaties and tax breaks for outsourcing. We are in desperate need of a government of and for the people.

Wow Mike because obviously all those are just the atheist right? in 2008, 34.2 million Americans (15.0%) claim no religion, of which 1.6% explicitly describes itself as atheist (0.7%) or agnostic (0.9%)

Less then 1% atheist, yet they cause all the problems in the country. Own a computer and smart phone or sneakers? odds are that you too are ignoring human rights violations. How about drive a car, or do you consider it ok to fund it, just not ignore it.

You need to go reread that bible for yourself and not listen to what idiot been preaching it to you. No man is without sin. So your little "I'm a Christian Conservative so my stuff don't stink" rant there is not only arrogant but astoundingly stupid.

I would think if one does not want to discuss their beliefs openly stay in the closet and don't share them on a public open discussion forum. AKA the world wide internet.

It totally takes away from his speech with Netanyahu. It was bad enough to begin with when the Israeli's were already quite aware of his latest antics. Such as giving military and financial aid to Israel's enemies. i.e. F-16's Helicopters, tank parts, and 1.5 billion $$ in cash to the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt.

Even Kruschev personnelly met with Kennedy and other Presidents, both at home (Russia) and abroad (at the Whitehouse). He was even allowed to drive the Presidential Limo one time for a distance, It seams he had quite the leadfoot. It is good when leaders talk togather it leaves nothing up to interpitation.

South Korea has a new President. If ww3 were to start, it would be there. I realize the President has a huge busy agenda and travel committments. However, I would think he would be more concerned about a clear and present danger as opposed to one that is a year away and have something better to do than meddle in Israeli/Hamas/Palestinian politics. IMHO he should have either visited the female new President in South Korea or invited her to the U.S. for a talk instead.

If the Israelis were to do that it would mean that the Israelis would have to start firing rockets into the gaza Strip and opening fire and killing as many Palestinians as possible. this president doesn't have a clue. i've visited Israel and the Israelis respect all of the people in Israel irregardless of their religion. While I was there the Palestinians were firing missiles into Southern Israel killing innocent Jewish civilians and a Palestinian gunman opened fire in a Jerusalem jewish seminary, killing 17 students the day after our tour went there.America should Not recognize the Palestinians until they decide they will stop teaching their kids to kill Israelis.

I'm no fan of a coward who will lob an aimless missle into a crowded area and then beat it back to his/her rat hole. But on the other hand maybe there's good reason the Palestinians are so pi$$ed. And for that matter, the Israelis have valid reasons to be defensive. I fear for the region and that matter the world, because what happens in the mid-east has repercussions far past borders.

One thing that will remain a big bugaboo in the region is the idea of manifest destiny. There are more than just fringe elements from both sides who claim the entire area as god-given, from all of the West Bank to the sea. It's a bit eerie to hear the most adamant of these voices speak on the land, because whether an Orthodox Jew or conservative Muslim, their eyes, their tone of voice say, "God has spoken and who owns the land is non-negotiable."

So it seems, if even in the minority, there are enough of these conservative Jewish and Muslim voices, different sides to coin, ringing out dangerous rhetoric and hamspringing the process of peaceful co-existence. I'm not sure, nor have I heard from studied experts, how such deep-seated beliefs are resolved so that a two-state solution is conceivable. I'll try to remain hopeful.

How many Muslims were celebrating with joy and candy to their kids did you saw it on TV? I did! The sad thing is that no matter what President Obama or Mr. Clinton, Mr. J. In early June, 1967, the combined armies of Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, and Syria massed at Israel's borders. This is not conjecture - it is fact. As the armies got into position, they claimed that it was only "war games". Once in position, President Nasser (Egypt) gave the U.N. peacekeeping force 24 hours to vacate or face death in the coming onslaught. The U.N. (nutless and gutless as they are), stated that, as they were a "peace keeping" force, and not a "fighting force", they were 'buggin' out. (cant blame them - they were 800 peacekeepers, vs. 400,000 Egyptian soldiers).

SO - now you're going to say what ? That the Arabs were justified because they wanted West Bank and Gaza back ? oh, wait - the Israelis didnt CAPTURE WB or Gaza UNTIL the '67 war.

Faced with this turn of events, Israel attacked.

                                                                      3. 1972 Yom Kippur war ? - try again. Israelis were in their holiest of holy days. They were attacked.

sooo, Stupiter...to what war are you referring ?

In compliance with the 1920 League of Nations Resolution, two-state solution was implemented in 1922 when british administration of occupied Israel allocated more than 70% of Israel territory to palestinian arabs and created Transjordan (now Jordan) where today over 90 percent of the population identify themselves as Palestinian Arabs. Every party, including UN, EU, US, etc., must respect League of Nations Resolutions, adopted and accepted by UN in 1945. Therefore, all so called "palestinians" must be relocated there. Enough stealing Israel land. Britain and Jordan must compensate Israel for stolen land and natural resources.

The highest ranking Soviet bloc defector, KGB Major General Ion Mihai Pacepa, in his documentary book "Red Horizons" rote:

"The peace process is, and has from the outset, been nothing but a charade. It all started with the creation of a fictitious "Palestinian People" who allegedly demand political self determination. This collective noun was created by the Soviet disinformation masters in 1964 when they created the Palestinian Liberation Organization, the "PLO". The term "Palestinian People" as a descriptive of Arabs in Palestine appeared for the first time in the preamble of the 1964 PLO Charter, drafted in Moscow. The Charter was affirmed by the first 422 members of the Palestinian National Council, handpicked by the KGB.

He's got time to manipulate spending to purposefully cause hardships just to drive home an agenda on the sequestration, but no time to meet with Reid/Boehner? This guy is an immature juvenile. The Book of Exodus tells how Moses leads the Israelites out of Egypt and through the wilderness to Mount Sinai, where God reveals himself and offers them a Covenant: they are to keep his torah (i.e. law, instruction), and in return he will be their god and give them the land of Canaan. The Book of Leviticus records the laws of God. The Book of Numbers tells how the Israelites, led now by their God, journey onwards from Sinai towards Canaan, but when their spies report that the land is filled with giants they refuse to go on. God condemns them to remain in the wilderness until the generation that left Egypt passes away. After thirty-eight years at the oasis of Kadesh Barnea the next generation travel on to the borders of Canaan. The Book of Deuteronomy tells how, within sight of the Promised Land, Moses recalls their journeys and gives them new laws. His death (the last reported event of the Torah) concludes the 40 years of the exodus from Egypt.

Of course the texts in it are going to favor the Jews over the Muslims. They wrote the book. Did the book mention the so called promised land was actually already inhabited by other people. Like much of the land already had been. If anything they come from Egypt if that's where they escaped from.
