Why bother with the nation building part, just leave a smoking hole and be done with it. Between the complete instability of Kim Jong Un and the fanaticism of the Iranian Ayatollah, the world is a very scary place right now. I have a suspicion that the latest nuclear test in North Korea was done for the Iranians. I think they either tested an Iranian design that was built in North Korea or the Iranians actually built it and smuggled it to North Korea to put the core in and test it. Even if this is not the case, do not think that the Iranians are more than a year from having a working weapon unless action is taken to stop them. If Iran actually succeeds in getting a weapon, which is looking more and more likely with Obama's refusal to commit to doing anything about it, it will only be a matter of time before one gets used. I do not know if it will be fanatical Ayatollah trying to take out Israel or the lunatic Kim trying to make good on his threats towards the US and South Korea, but one of these crazies may just detonate one in a populated area.

Yes American lives are worth the risk to prevent tragedies. It's just that the way we go about evaluating tragedies is filled with irony. When genocide was taking place in the Balkans, American might was grossly delayed in stamping it out. Republicans who have no moral compass and no political principle other than disagreeing with the opposition party were against any action to stop the genocide. Republicans specifically said that not a single American life should be risked to stamp out genocide where hundreds of thousands of humans could be murdered. Any soldier's life that was lost would make Bill Clinton culpable for his courageous but admittedly belated stand against genocide.

If American lives are worth sacrificing, then why do we regard Palestinian lives as worthless? Israel has had a policy of stealing Palestinian land for its entire existence, and subjecting Palestinians to inhumane treatment, and then Americans whine when a small minority of Palestinians become terrorists. American immorality concerning Palestinians may be the biggest factor in the rage that many of the Islamic countries direct towards the US.

Why didn't America regard the overthrow of Iran's democratically and pro western government as a tragedy? Oh that's right because America and Britain are the ones doing the overthrowing and the ones who installed the Shaw of Iran, just because Iran wanted a fair share of the profits for the oil that was being extracted from their lands. Americana's own actions directly led to the eventual takeover of Iran by radical Shiites. Now America is whining because Iran may finally obtain the ability to fully protect itself from outside influence.

Sounds harsh to say but genocide in the Balkins wasn't anywhere close to a threat to our national security. A nation who freely and openly states that it wants to wipe our allies off the world map....well IS.

Palestinians, in my view, represent not much more than a well organized group of terrorists and don't possess the means to inflict catastrophic damage onto our nation as a whole...so no national threat there.

Let me know when the UN is inspecting US and or Israeli military bases. It is not required under the NPT. The idea you can claim any site to be nuclear and then roll in and inspect it is stupid. On top of that the sat pictures that some have used to support nuclear weapons work at military sights look striking similar to those we used to support the attack on Iraq i.e. they show nothing. Problem is, is that although we can espouse how much we don't want a WWIII or anything like that. These countries have called jihad on Israel and US multiple times. Iran called it on us in the 70s (so technically we are at war with them right now)! The problem is their mindset and the fact that most of them operate under a tribal, "warlord" mentality. This means that they only respond to the biggest baddest mofo out there who will not hesitate to lop off heads to make his point clear. It's hard to raise an olive branch when they respond with sharp objects.

USAF and Goodguyfl, If there is an issue between Israel and Iran, Iran would loose in a big way. Israel is already a nuke power they just don't say much about it. I agree that Mecca should be left untouched by any weapons as it would be a slap to any muslim. USAF is most likely correct on the fall out if Mecca was attacked. I do not agree that all muslims would arise world wide if Iran was attacked. I think a real good compromise would be to nuke in the correct area to have a fair amount of fallout hit Mecca. @Perry and todays South korea is not the same one from 60 years ago they are much more capable of defending themselves against the north and I don't believe any American deployment would have to involve large numbers of ground forces but rather slant more towards Naval and Air power contributions. However China will also have to be a consideration in that scenario. It's a tough one to predict. If it happens I say let the South Koreans handle the bulk of the fighting on the ground supported by American units already present and Add a contingent of naval and air support.

the US is a bully!!! they start wars in middle eastern countries, w/o any evidence what so ever. The middle east is filled with poverty and woman and children who have no voice of their own. all these people died in iraq and no weapons of mass-destruction was ever found. I think as humans we need to speak against countries that bully the weak, at the end of the day the people on the top send their children to European Schools, drive their fancy cars and live in their big homes.. what happens to the displaced babies, tolddlers, and mothers who lose their husbands and have no way to feed their children..... come on people put ourself in their shoe for just one minute, this BS is not about US, IRAN, ISRAEL, OR KOREA, this is all about the almighty dollar and who will walk away with more of it..... what happened to Iran a few years ago when the youngsters died trying to bring in change to their country will happen one day around the world. Michael Jackson said it best, in his song Man In The Mirror; we have to make that change and stand up speak against the abuse of humans, woman and children....

the US is a bully, we have problems in our own backyard and we are constantly going else where. Lets help all the soldiers that come back messed up fighting wars which makes no sense. Help them, so when they come back they have a home, a job , and their dignity. just go to downtown LA and see how may soldiers of Vietnam are now begging, and are pushing carts because their government has failed them.

The problem here is that we all sit around and blame Iran and the Muslims but non of you have any idea how the other half live. How would you feel if you could not feed your children, or be able to save them from the bombs which may fall on your home.... woman and children people, babies...

these wars are created so that the people on top get richer, their children get good education while the poor and unfortunate, and no word of their own get killed....
