Hania Moheeb, an Egyptian journalist assaulted in Cairo's iconic Tahrir Square, says attacks aimed at shaming women into silence will not succeed. By NBC News' Susan Kroll and Tracy Jarrett.
Cairo's Tahrir Square, once the staging ground for the massive uprising that ousted Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, is quickly becoming notorious for something very different: an organized campaign of sexual assaults, activists say.
The past year has seen an increase in attacks against women at demonstrations, but recently they have been particularly rampant – and, according to witnesses and activists, they have been following similar patterns.
On the two-year anniversary of the revolution on Jan. 25, at least 19 women were sexually assaulted in and around Tahrir Square in one night, some with knives, activists said. Dozens more cases have been reported in the two months since.
“The message to women is, ‘You should stay at home, you should stop protesting, you should feel stigmatized,’” said Hania Moheeb, an Egyptian journalist who was herself assaulted in the square that night.
Moheeb, who writes for two English-language magazines and for a documentary program on Nile TV International, recently met female activists from around the Middle East at a conference in New York on women’s rights since the Arab Spring uprising. She described that at one point that night, she was certain she would die.
Moheeb, 42, was trying to pass through the square when two men grabbed her from a group of women who had formed a circle around her, apparently to protect her.
“In a few seconds, tens of hands were all over my body, under my clothes, ripping … off my clothes and violating each inch of my body,” she said.
The men were “continuously giving the impression that they were helping out while they were the same perpetrators and attackers,” she added.
They dragged her to the outer edges of the square where another group of men came forward, saying they would help and take her to an ambulance, Moheeb said. But they stopped her as she tried to pull her clothes back on, carrying her half-naked to the ambulance.
“What I know for a fact is that my body was being violated up until the last second before I was put in the ambulance,” she said.
Over the days following her attack, Moheeb heard from other women who were also assaulted on the same night, at the same place and in the same way – using the same techniques down to the very last detail.
Some activists believe it is an organized tactic aimed at silencing opponents of the Egyptian government, but there has been no evidence to prove that is the case, Moheeb said. No single group has been charged in connection with the assaults as of yet.
Nonetheless, Moheeb fears there will be retribution for her telling her story and worries for her husband and parents. Although she is pursuing justice through the courts, she says she holds out very little hope that anything will be done.
“The justice I need,” Moheeb said, “is the justice [for] the Egyptian people. The success of the revolution will be success for them.”

Violence, protesters return to Tahrir Square

It happens here in the US also. I just don't know why they make a big deal out of it when it happens in other places,
I say we should kill all rapeists, but they cut me off before I could type that.
Gang rape does NOT happen here in the US

Gee, isnt Obama all for womens rights and yet he pushed for the Arab Spring and the muslim brotherhood taking over Egypt. Didnt he just send Mubarak F-16s and tanks? Bravo Barry, Bravo!
Just ask Lara Logan how she feels about Obama

And she sounds stoned.
oops, Typo, not Mubarak, I meant Morsi
fed up your an idiot, you must be a man, gang rape happens all the time in america, we are no better than any other country we treat women as second class citizens too. IE: lilly ledbetter...really. Im thinking your an old white man.
I think that Hania Moheeb was very brave or at least as brave as she could be given the circumstances she was subjected too.... How the hell is it shameful to be attacked, the attackers are the ones shamed here acting like a pack of animals who have never seen a women before.... We share our world with our women and have for a long time and it is a better place for it too.... now we know where the real animals are in this world today, Hania Moheeb has just told us about them in her own words and shes smart for knowing that this was by no means her fault for attempting to free....
Dear Wondering,
No you are a apologetic idiot! So you are saying that if someone else commits a horrible act its ok if someone else does the same thing. Just keep wondering.
Oh you must be a lesbian.
This is different. This is men recognizing their self-proclaimed superiority over women evaporating into thin air. And they're responding exactly the same way that bigots and racists always respond; exactly the same way that racists responded in the Civil Rights era to desegregation and bigots now respond to same-sex marriage. With hatred and violence.
No one ever said gang rapes don't happen in America. But we usually lock them up when they are found guilty. Unlike in uncivilized countries where they execute women if they report a rape.
@ Mary, All rapists should be killed? Does that include female rapists too? You know, like all the female school teachers having sex with underage boys? According to US law Rape is defined as 1. Having sex with someone against their will. 2. Having sex with someone who is under the legal age of consent. The law does not differentiate between the sexes. Rape is rape.
Our court system is so female biased it makes me ill. If a 34 year old female teacher has sex with a 14 year old boy......probation or six months in jail. If a 34 old male teacher has sex with a 14 year old girl......15 years. This sends the message that female rights are more important than a male's. Can someone explain this to me?
What else would anyone expect from muslims?
Gee whiz Fedupwithfed.....you sure are dumb as a rock...Mubarak was overthrown over a year ago.....and,No....Obama did not "invite" the Muslim Brotherhood into Egypt, they were already there. How can an outsider invite someone into another nation ? Your IQ must be about 88.
I'm an American male that lived in Egypt for 18 months, ending in February of 2013.
You cannot even begin to compare sexual assault in America to what happens in Egypt!!! I have seen this with my own eyes over a dozen times. It is SHOCKING! I never knew people in today's world could behave this way in public. They have no respect for women.
In America if you are around large groups of sober people in the middle of the day, you would not worry about teenagers and grown men groping you. In Egypt it is a normal thing. Here, most people would stand up for others if they witnessed this. There, they say "Well, she shouldn't be showing her arms/hair/shoulders!" or they say nothing at all.
To top it off, when this happens to a woman over there, there is nothing you can do about it. Despite what you may read, there are no enforced laws in Egypt. Unless, of course, it is something to do with women's bathing suits....that is strictly enforced.
My friend was followed, groped, and assaulted in the middle of the day. She was just walking home from work. She was able to scare away the man that was trying to kiss her by biting his lip and screaming. She could do nothing but cry and continue to walk home.
Not all people do this in Egypt, but the fact that it is a daily occurrence says something. This, and MANY other reasons, has solidified my opinion of this country. It is a disgusting disgrace to humanity.
Sounds like you could make a small fortune in Egypt selling pepper spray!
I guess this is the result when you make worshiping one religion a law. Sexual suppression is an ugly thing. Im not a fan of religion but im sure glad when the crusades happened we didnt end up primarily Muslim over here
Rape is not sex it's a power game played by men who are fearful that they are not really strong men
Gang rapes happen everywhere. But this is a little different. I did not see any information saying she was sexually raped (penetration etc.) This attack is a statement by the Islamist men of Egypt, denigrating women and telling them they have no rights in the new Egypt. The revolution is over and the liberal revolutionaries have failed. the Islamist fundamental Muslim Brotherhood is in charge and women, minorities, infidels all have no rights.
In the US, we hear about rape cases in the news, sure - a crime of opportunity by jerks. But a public incident like described in the article, NO. Kind of like that female journalist covering the original Egypt protest while Mubarek was still in power, in a public gathering with bystanders around- she was sexually assaulted as well.
But it must not be muslim guys doing it, right? The whole region is a bunch of cavemen. The women's male relatives should arm them with small concealed pistols, so the ladies can do the public a service.
Mr. Doodles (horrible M.O., please change it) I agree with your sentiments. Those who have commented here... (who so conveniently default by way of their own self cultivated intellectual laziness and ignorance) to there somehow being a "moral equivalency" as to this matter both here and in the Muslim world are as always and as is always the case with this crowd (Reactionaries)... dead WRONG! The Arab civilization and the Muslim world have much to be proud of but in this one regard... their treatment of women is horrendous. For to long non-American Muslim males have grown up as if boys and not as the men they should be. The female form has become so fetishized that the sight of a wrist, a cheek or a women unescorted is considered now somehow bizarrely provocative and a signal of intent. The rationale that it was and always will be "her" fault is a self inflicted delusion, an excuse for bad behavior or worse. This rationale at its core allows for these little boys to take no responsibility and to act as children... without restraint, control or discipline! Where is the reason... where is the simple thought that she could be my daughter, my sister, my wife!
fedupwithfed,
I don't know what country you're living in but we most certainly do have gang rapes here in the USA. Not just gang rapes, but gang rapes of children. Are you not familiar with the gang rape in 2009 in Richmond, California where a 15 year old girl wasbeaten and gang raped by seven 15 to 20, while up to 20 people stood by watched and video taped? How about in 2011 when an 11 year old was gang raped by 5 juvinilles and 14 men in Cleveland, Texas?
And since you want to go off topic for Obama bashing, make sure you also bash those who brought us there, because of 9/11 , no not that I mean, WMDs or wait, there's no WMDs? Okay, not that but uuhhhh the uh, the uh, the uhhhhh freedom agenda, yeah that's the ticket, the freedom agenda ... who brought us the Muslim Brotherhood. I'm all for bashing Obama on his drones policy, and on fast and furious, lack of transparency, and for not demanding that the new black panther that offered a kidnap for hire on Zimmerman not be charged among other things... but that is not one of them.
Mr. Doodles,
Shame on you for deminishing any violent rape and violation of anyone's civil liberties, especially sexual violence against our mothers and sisters, because it is more prevelent there. THAT DOES NOT JUSTIFY IT. I don't care if it is improper touching, date rape or violent gang rape, this culture must stop. Women have the right to their own bodies, PERIOD!
Crystal-Clear,
Or force them to marry their assailant like the 16 year old girl that committed suicide in Morocco last year.
Jack,
While that could be an intentionally bigoted statement, the fact is that in that in many cultures women have restricted rights. Haredi Jews treat their women the same as the most dour Islamic fundamentalist. That does open the discussion, though, to whether it is healthy to have such separation between men and women. When I was stationed over there, I thought it was an odd culture. I heard a phrase that was coined to reference their relationships with one another, "men are for pleasure, women are for children." I don't know how much stock to put in that, as US Americans are less intimate with other males as they are in other cultures. I read an article about Afghan men being treated for anal warts and being lectured that the cause was homosexual behavior. They said that was impossible because they were not homosexuals. I've read about night clubs in Saudi which are havens for homosexual behavior. Lawarnce Wright makes a good point about their relationships with each other, "it's tough to be a suicide bomber when your girlfriend says you can't." If they have no interaction with one another, and in some cultures aren't allowed to date. Primal instinct may kick in. It in no means, and no way is a justification, but it may be part of an explaination. It is clear, though, that woman's rights are becoming a global issue, and I welcome it. My mother was one of the first women that her University allowed, she raised strong women as my sisters, and my wife thanks her for raising such a wonderful son. I've never had to put the poon on the pedestal, because I always knew... women like to be challenged, but respected (and dominated safely behind closed doors)
enda-1100294 - you took that the WRONG way... When I said "you can't compare it", I meant that it happens MUCH, MUCH more often there.
....and where did I say that behavior is justified??? My post agrees that it is disgusting and wrong...
...I'm a little confused as to how you got that interpretation from my post.
Tank Carson - sorry you don't like it, it's an inside joke that you would approve of if you knew the story
I have always said that if not for women us humans would still be living in the woods. Groups of weaker women would get together and make a stand against the larger and stronger alpha male. They are what is really needed for a revolution to happen over there. Unless they make a stand things will return to a "normal" Shia ran country. I was hoping that Egypt would progress and not go backwards in time.
Women are important to families just like men are and I see the other side of the argument. The idea that a single parent can raise a child as well as two people can has to go. Super mom is not getting the f***ing job done. She is to busy trying to multitask everything that everything single thing suffers to some extent. Just look at the education levels, crime rate, prison levels, nutrition, etc. and it is clear to see that there is an advantage to having a parent stay at home. Even when there are not children around it still benefits to have one person stay at home. Hard to have a cheating partner if there is only one sex at the workplace (besides gay relationships of course). Why do we have separate bathrooms still?
@Seven "Our court system is so female biased it makes me ill. If a 34 year old female teacher has sex with a 14 year old boy......probation or six months in jail. If a 34 old male teacher has sex with a 14 year old girl......15 years. This sends the message that female rights are more important than a male's. Can someone explain this to me?"
Yes it is heavily biased depending on what the crime/charge is. One of the reasons for "rape" being different is due to how a penis works. If it is flaccid and limp then it is pretty hard to have sex with it. Therefore, in order for a woman to have sex with a man and "rape" them they have to be "into it". Male on male rape is a whole other story however, but that was not what you are asking.
@Enda "I've never had to put the poon on the pedestal, because I always knew... women like to be challenged, but respected (and dominated safely behind closed doors)"
LOL...a man who listens to all the lies and BS that he is told by women. Only morons put the poon on a pedestal since it is so easy to get now a days, but that does not stop others from mindlessly chasing after it. It is a woman's own personal "drug" they can sell you, and if you do not want to have some of it and chase after them then you must be gay or there is something wrong with them since most women lack self esteem.
Women do not like to be challenged I hate to break it to you. They like to win like everyone else does. They like to be chased after, how is that a challenge to them when they are making up the rules? You are kissing their a$$es plain and simple. Who does not like getting their a$$ kissed? If they cannot win then they will leave since there is a flock of vultures circling in the wind. Many women are addicted to the feeling of being chased after and every 3 to 5 years or so will get a new man that has not had the poon yet, and will kiss their butts like their old man used to until he got the same poon for 5 years. If a man has not had the poon yet he will treat you differently then if he has had it plain and simple. If a man has not had it then that is the reason he is being nice to you more then likely even if they say they are not.
Most men that stay in relationship with women here in the U.S. always differ to their women on almost everything. They only challenge a women on the "important" things and are a dog the rest of the time being a "good boy". They also either cheat or get cheated on many times. It is either lie and play their stupid game, or to lie and have them play your game. There does not seem to be an in between anymore.
Respect is due to their public image in the community/society and you better not embarrass them in public or make them look bad. Just look at all the time they spend to get ready and dress up most of the times just to impress others. Mess up their "perfect" social image and they will also leave you. Just remember to be a "good boy" and to not speak your mind or have an opinion in public about anything important.
"Dominated behind closed doors" after being forced to be "good boy" all day long, and you now want me to be a bad boy... How much more one sided can a relationship get and WTF do I get out of this after being your slave/dog all day long? Cannot mess up that public image, show, act, front most women put on for others, etc.. I find that many women want the impossible and should really stop reading all the romance BS since it gives them a false image of what a man should do in a relationship almost like what some women say about porn.
Many women are not happy unless I can ride a horse down a mountain while sword fighting with one hand and writing a love poem in the other all while singing her a love song all at the same time. They are twice as quick to stab you in the back and twice as quick again to apologize for it. American women have it good now a days, yet they still complain. Many women could be sitting on a beach in paradise and still find something to complain about. "It is to hot and I am sweating, there are insects, food is taking to long, etc." they will find something to say something about. Go band together and do something important like help out your fellow women instead.
Mr. Doodles,
I garnered it from the phrase, " you cannot even compare sexual assualt that happens in America to what happens in Egypt."
The amplitude of sexual assault is the same, even if the frequency is more elsewhere; it most certainly can be compared, and most definitely for any victim. Perhaps you phrased it wrong, but IMO it diminishes those that are victimized here. Remember, every two minutes a woman is sexually assuallted in the USA, 54% go unreported, and 97% of assailants never spend a day in jail.
Tired,
Two things we'll probably never understand, black holes and why women date d-bags.
Like I posted, I never had to put a woman on the pedestal, and I got plenty without having to be a d-bag. Women do like to be challenged, that is why they date d-bags. They mistake arrogance for confidence. No woman wants to date a push over, at least I've never met one. Every person, not just woman, wants to be respected. And women do like to be safely dominated in the bed room, some even demand it. (50 shades of gray is a best seller, genius.)
Your stereotypes and generalizations are outdated.
@ TIRED, Thanks for you comment but you are actually wrong. Sorry to point this out. Many years ago three women tied up and raped a Priest in New England. When they were taken to court it was scientifically proven that even if a man is "Not into it" he will become aroused if stimulated properly even if it is against his will. Just as women who are raped become lubricated. It is an involuntary action. Any young man can tell you this as we all have had erections at inappropriate times. This is not me saying this, it was proven in court by experts. The three women ended up doing some time in the penitentiary, for how long I do not remember.
Every place where Obama supported freedom is now under Sharia Law.
That's untrue.....state your case, don't make blanket accusations with a dumb 11 word sentence.
Freedom Girl....shouldn't you be in the kitchen fixin' dinner?
Don't you mean Bush? Iraq was secular and the woman were free to dress as they wanted and to work outside the home. After Bush invaded the religious groups took over and now woman are being beat and raped for not being fully covered and for leaving the house without a male relative as an escort. And Afghanistan hasn't gotten any worse for women but it sure hasn't gotten any better either.
Running of the Bulls? in Egypt?
SHlT HAPPENS!
marywhatever,
You have no idea of what it is like in Egypt, so your statement is rubbish. Women in the States are certainly subject to random acts of sexual abuse, but what is happening over there is an organized movement to suppress women violently.
Freedom Girl,
Why don't you crawl back under your rock with the rest of the GOP and TPers?
Spot on SingBiker: Egypt is doing the same thing that is going on in India - it IS suppression, simply put.
Terrifying. And you know whats even more frightening? That most men would act the same way everywhere all the time if they didn't fear the consequences of law. Don't tell me Im wrong. Those men in Egypt are no different from men everywhere else in the world. The only difference is that right now there is no law and order in Egypt to make the men accountable for their crimes. Im not a Republican by any means but Ill keep my gun thank you very much.
Gupzi: YOUR WRONG. (Don't tell everybody to NOT to tell you that you're wrong and especially not me. If you think there is good in everybody, then you obviously haven't met everybody and even more obviously not me. ~I'd explain that to you, but you're going to have to figure that one out on your own as it is later in the evening than you think.)
You forget one thing, mate: CULTURAL DIFFERENCES. While 'tis true that currently, this is all toward keeping the women's movements in Egypt and India down, it is much more like the 1940's in these nations with their ideas about where women fit in (and more importantly, where they aren't welcome to fit in). The difference is NOT just 'no laws to make men accountable': the difference is WHY there are no laws and WHY the few that they DO have are ignored by the police, city officials etc, etc. Women are property, 'gets' or 'things'; they are denied a great deal (including the fact that they also possess something called a sex drive as only men are allowed to have those) - they're 'dames' and 'broads' in the 1940's sense of the words.
You're also wrong in the grand assumption that men (LAWLESS MEN) would not respect a woman's right to chose anything (including NOT you). Some of us were brought up differently than your knuckle-dragging culture implies.
Your a fu(king idiot. Thanks for classifying all men as rapist you loser.
People who resort to foul language insults usually do so because they arnt smart enough to think of something more clever to say lol!
Fu(k you.
Are you joking or are you really that ignorant Jim? Either way you gave me a good laugh lol!
Amazing that they permit inmates of the psycho ward like Jim-Ohioan to use computers!
What's wrong with Jim's comments? Nothing, take a good hard look at gypzi's, libby.
Gypzi I take your comment as an insult to the man I have always been. It's a shamefully arrogant statement that says every man wants you. I been with 5 woman in almost 50 years now. I have tried my best to only be with a woman who wanted me for me. I was married to two of those women. One past away not long ago and I mourned her death even after we had been parted for many years. It's pretty obvious to me that you choose to be around that kind of men because I know a good many who believe as I do. Who look forward to meeting women out in this world today who deserve the kind of respect they would love to give them. I wouldn't care if she made more money than me. Or if she had more respect from other than I do. I'm married to a woman just like that and I love her very much and have no want for any other women.
Right on and well said
Being raised a Buckeye, I take offense to Jim's crudeness - you typically have to drive 15 minutes outside of any Ohio town to find that sort of backwoods no class language. (Ode to Jeff Foxworthy)
Anyway, my son would NEVER assault a woman's person in any way, and in fact knows to go for help immediately if he ever encountered such a situation (one guy can't fight 4 at once). That, and he has a gun in his car trunk - and on vermin like the article describes - would love to use it.
I hold to my opinion that YOU are wrong Alex. I believe in any society that loses its law and order(whether that society be advanced or somewhat primitive) the number and nature of atrocities committed by men against women would sky rocket. And I think "most" men would be guilty of such offenses. So you're saying you arnt one of those men. I hope you're right but don't expect me to believe you unless the situation fell upon us. I just think most men would not be able to resist selfishly pursuing their own sexual gratification upon women they found attractive if they believed that forcing themselves on those women would have absolutely no negative consequences for them later. I think you are a fool and naïve to believe otherwise. But hey, that too is just my opinion :)
PS: You're reading comprehension doesn't seem to be up to speed either by the way. You seem to think I said "Every man" would commit sexual offenses against women if they had no negative consequences to fear. In reality I said "most men" would.
@Gypzi,
I'm in full agreement with AlexTheBlade. I have personally stepped it to intervene in situations where women were about to be harmed by someone intent on doing them harm. I've even done it OCONUS.
You are using a mighty wide brush there.
P.S. @Gypzi, most men I know would behave the same as me in the same situations.
You're all missing the point. Islam encourages abuse of women. That's the point.
Actually Pray Hard, I think we are purposely discussing a "side point". Well, I am anyway and I suspect the others are as well. Speaking for myself, I fully understand whats happening in Egypt. I just believe the same thing could happen anywhere if the social structure breaks down and stays broken down for long enough.
Thousands of German Soldiers raped and then killed Jews in World War II
Russian soldiers crushed the German Army, and then thousands of Russian soldiers raped German women....
Note, that I said thousands, NOT Millions and certainly not ALL of those soldiers...
During World War II, over a hundred thousand Japanese Army soldiers were taken prisoners by the USMC and the US Army.and tens of thousands of these unarmed Japanese soldiers were tossed out the doors of cargo airplanes, to their deaths, thousands of unarmed Japanese soldiers, prisoners, on American troopships, who were on the way to Prisoner of War Camps, were thrown into the ocean by American servicemen.....
American soldiers on conquered Pacific islands, hunted down, and killed unknown thousands of starving Japanese hold outs who were out in the jungle, starving and unarmed....American Hunting parties, just for sport...I have known such American soldiers who did this and who were later in life , overwhelmed with guilt...
How about VietNam, the MyLai Massacre of children, women and babies by the US Army, and the thousands of VietCong Freedom fighters who were tied up and tossed out of American helicopters ?
WAR brings out the worst in man...
It really is quite surprising that this story even gets mention on MSN. Afterall, women being raped, groped, assaulted, violated, (later to possibly be stoned to death for the crime) is simply a major part of islam and is certainly not news on the garbage-strewn streets in grubby islamic cities.
That is why even the quintessential frumpy thick-eyebrowed, mustached, bedspread wearing muslim woman is still at risk of the same treatment everytime she goes out the front door. But Western women’s lib movements are so engrossed in lesbian rights that they absolutely have no time to be outraged by such trivia.
And by the way, taking away the threat of negative consequences(whether they be social or incarceration in nature) is the only way to discern the true nature of ANYONE-man or woman. Consider the internet for example. Consider the ignorant, rude and entirely anti-social comments so many people make in these comment sections and places like them. People dare to do that because they believe they are anonymous. In other words, they are showing their true nature because they have nothing to fear by doing so. This same phenomenon would work the same way in real life if people had nothing to fear for behaving in grossly selfish, destructive, and adverse ways(if it is in their nature to behave that way). I could probably say this better if I took some time to formulate it but I just wanna get it out and get some sleep lol.
WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTTTTT?????????????????????????????????
Islam violating women, treating them like dirt, beating the crap out of them, raping them, etc....?
WHY is NBC turning Islamophobic???????
It's always interesting when two protected, politically correct groups get into a tussle, in this case Islam and
Women's Activist Groups, to see which side the media will criticize.
They will invent a villain then, typically Jews or White men or the CIA or Israel or the US.
Let's resort to an old favorite - "It's Bush's fault!!"
This will happen more and more as we export Liberalism around the world.
It has nothing to do with liberalism or conservatism. It has to do with Islam. You seriously need to get a brain. In the war against Islam, you're no better than the most liberal dhimmi useful idiot for Islam. Educate yourself about Islam and you might be useful.
I don't know why anyone is surprised. When the 'Arab spring" started I wasn't thrilled. I just knew it would end with all the most horrible elements of Arab culture rising to the very top. Hatred of Jews and hatred of women. Unfortunately, Arabs have always lived down to my worst expectations. Show me one group of Arabs who can behave like human beings and I will be very amazed.
What I would like to see is a worldwide WOMEN's "spring"--how about mobs of women banding together and refusing to take any more oppression. Give 'em some weapons too!
This story is nothing new except to those who don't keep up with these Islamic "revolutions", "Springs", etc. Being sexually assaulted, then being stoned to death for "shaming the family" is part and parcel of Islam. Oh, no, you say, it their "culture", not Islam. OK, why then do approximately 91% of these things occur in Islamic countries? Please, pray tell, fill ... me ... in. Oh, go ahead, blame it on Timothy McVeigh or a Zionist conspiracy or Bigfoot, maybe.
Pray Hard, it's not just Islam.
It's also a parcel of the bible. If a man finds his bride is not a virgin he shall take her to her fathers doorstep and stone her.
Silly religions. That's why I believe in secular humanism.
That's not what the Bible says. He is to take her to her father. Nothing about stoning her adultery is when you are with a married person. Not when you propose marriage. By the way if there was no doctors and your privates swell up like a balloon you might ask someone to finish you off with a rock. Isn't it nice of God to let someone finish you off in that case? If you knew the price was death would you tell anyone you did it? Only when the pain got so bad you didn't care if they killed you.
Weren't these the people that did not want our former ally? Hmmmmm, then again, aren't these people muslem? Like our President of the United States? Man alive, has our country gone to hell, or what? Such leadership!
Another Frustrated Republican trying to make a point that doesn't exist Freddy? lol! I get such a kick out of you guys. Obama has never been a Muslim-except in your wishful thinking. Then again, theres nothing wrong with Muslims. Most are just as peace loving as any Christian, Jew, or Buddhist. Every religion does or has contained a group of dangerous fanatics.
Yes Gypzi, every religion has dangerous fanatics. The problem with Islam is that the percentage of dangerous fanatics is about 10,000 times greater than the other religions.
this is out of control, the females should do their own burning bed syndrome , or cut the offending member off and feed it to the nile crock's, there is no valid reason to do anything as bad as being raped by a few? desert dwellers that probably sleeps with monkeys and goats
If benevolent aliens wanted to intervene with the human race they would create a virus to sterilize all high testosterone males. A virus that would take a century or more to eradicate, would spread everywhere and cause no other harm. After a few generations the threat that the human race would extinguish itself would be greatly reduced. Not to mention fewer criminals, religious lunatics , economic recessions and truly equal rights for women.
You people are such haters. Why can't you let muslims be muslims in muslim countries? Would they write articles about how horrid Catholics are for praying the rosary, or Jews lighting candles? Then why can't they practice islam in the manner in which its inventor, mohamat, said it should be practiced? Read the koran. They have an islamically accepted version at the muslim student associations web site. Keep in mind that they consider this the unchanging word of allah, the god created by mohamat, good for all people at all times. Read the koran.
Human rights, and especially women's right have no borders or religious restrictions. Islam needs to change or eventually one half of the worlds population will change it whether they like it or not.
Steve, if you have read the Koran, then you know that Mohammed did not create Allah. He also said the Jesus Christ was not the son of God but a Prophret just like him. Also there is no Jihad in the Koran. Rape is a sin in the Koran.
These woman should arm themselves with AK47 that will stop these sicko men from raping real fast. Shot there dicks off problem solved.
How could any woman want to be a moslem, the most backward, ignorant and oppressive religon toward women on the planet.
I'm still wondering why women become teabagger's ... By some of the comments pertaining to this outrageous story, I wonder if some of you are even human ?
It seems to me that those men feel so emasculated that they need to violate women in an attempt to keep the fairer sex in their place. To me this is no different than the fundamentalists in our Congress who want to deny women reproductive rights. They just have to keep us under their control, no matter how misguided the method.
There is only one way to stop this. The U.S. must give Morsi Brotherhood more money, lots and lots of money. Billions upon Billions ought to do it. After all isn't Egypt a Fledging Democracy??
Did someone just actually say " Why would a women want to be a Moslem"?
You are kidding right? Like You actually think that in countries like Egypt, you have freedom of religion like you do in the US....after, say, Your Mom and Dad are Moslem, the neighborhood You grew up in is Moslem, etc
How embarrassing to be an Egyptian "MAN" today! To compare them to ANIMALS is too much of a compliment! Animals are way more evolved then Eyptian men.
They treat their animals better, these camel humper's ain't fit to be with cattle!
I don't really know much about sex in Muslim countries since I've never been to the ME and am not Muslim (and don't really know any Muslims). However, based on the level of repression of sexuality I see in that culture, it would not surprise me that gang rape is far more likely in those environments. We've all heard the tales from the Iraq and Afghan wars about how our soldiers always found massive amounts of porn when going through the hideouts/homes/computers of Jihadis. These terrorists are still just human men; the hormones flow through their bodies just like any other man. The problem is their culture won't let them do anything about it----they have to get married to have sex and even then, their women are so covered up they can't even enjoy that. The men can't go to the cathouse, or the strip club, or do anything that allows them to vent this desire. Don't even mention what Islam thinks about women when they are on their period. Deep down, Islamic men really are angry at women; angry at their power over them. Yet they are afraid of losing their grip on this power; of freeing their women to use the sexual power nature gave them. This constant tug-of-war between their natural desire and their learned culture makes these guys very unstable when it comes to sex. Women beware....
@ Gypzi I think you are wrong, I raise my sons to treat everyone with grace and respect and to aid those that need it. They have consistently shown themselves at school to stand up for those being picked on and assaulted. Do not lump all men in with a group that act on nothing more than their base impulses. It is true that there are a lot of them out there, but not all men are like that. I know several men, most of those that I associate with that would not stand for the mistreatment of anyone, much less a woman or girl.
