TEL AVIV - Israel has disciplined soldiers from an elite unit after a YouTube video emerged that allegedly showed them dancing at a Palestinian wedding while they were supposed to be on armed patrol.
"The IDF views this as a serious incident. The soldiers exposed themselves to unnecessary danger and were disciplined accordingly,” a spokesman for the Israeli Defence Force said on Thursday.
The video shows at least two soldiers wearing flak jackets and helmets, and carrying their weapons dancing to South Korean pop star Psy's hit "Gangnam Style." At one point one of the soldiers is lifted onto the shoulders of one of the party-goers.
According to local media reports, the soldiers from the Givati Brigade were in the West Bank town of Hebron, which has long been a flash-point between Israelis and Palestinians.
The IDF would not elaborate on how many soldiers had been caught or how they had been disciplined.
